they are fun to watch and put on a good show but they do have many quality players from competition level. they just choose to play for the crowd rather then compete or play a lot of traditional music.
Any bagpipe gurus' what make that montone humming sound when they're playin? Is it part of the ritual or part of the actual instrument. Explain please!!

it's a pipe called a Chanter. traditionaly people learning to play the bagpipes start by playing the chanter.
