I'm sorry to correct you. It was actually more for tact reasons. When developed and first released this scene was fine. It was later cut after the events of 9/11.

Quite a few movies were edited because of the events of 9/11.

It's not really an alternate ending because this was exactly what they used in the movie. I think thepuls3 meant something else. I just can't think of the word.

But yeah this would be pretty depressing if they showed it in the movie like THAT. Sad music always makes a scene disturbing.

I've never seen the film with THIS  ending, ie: with no dialogue and creepy/sad music playing. So I guess you COULD call it an alternate one...but the actual ending is nothing like this except the animation-and it's not in slo-mo

It was the last time (until I discovered the wonders of youtube) that I saw that scene. now everytime I watch the movie that part is cut out. On Disney Channel after 9/11, they took it out 'cause there's something blowing up before crashing into something so they wanted to not remind people of it.

Personally I don't see how that's effective, if they wanna do that they shouldn't show it at all. It ruins the movie to cut a part out. Besides, there's a lot of movies with stuff like this, it's not like people will just forget.

I think the part where Max goes back into the burning X and wades through the smoke to find someone trapped and in danger of dying is another reason why they took it out. Maybe even if 9/11 didn't happen, it would still be kind of disturbing--especially with Ave Maria playing and no dialogue.
