You should of talked about when there was a moment in the first round when there around 1:22 left, it looked like Fedor wanted to go for a football kick(soccer) and was going to BLAST Rogers in the head with a kick but waited a second then started to throw punches. If these were Pride rules, Rogers would of been done and dusted right there.
Rogers has a punchers chance effect. His initial fury and KO power is immense but he gases early and needs to address working on other skills for mma. Bretts defense executed ok at one point when he covered his face to Fedors wild swings.
Fedors takedown and submission tactics always presents big puzzles to fighters. Brett seemed frustrated and eventually lost ground with Fedor in Fedor mode and the missle launched with accuracy.
Brett did well considering but needs more training.

If you watch the time warp version of the fight I posted, you'll see that Rogers's first jab wasn't hard and that he landed about three shots in the g & p, which didn't do much. Meanwhile, Fedor took Rogers down repeatedly, stunned him with a shot, and almost got an arm bar in the first round. And his KO was, if you look closely, a counter punch, keyed off Rogers's step into his left jab. Now it's time to test Fedor against a big dude who CAN wrestle. Josh Barnett, where are you?
Fedor was not that impressive in that fight,. The standup was even and he was getting hammered on the ground. Great finish in the 2nd but Rogers is not exactly a stud heavyweight..

Even before Brett started his gnp Fedor has Brett's left arm in his crosshairs, then blows starts raining and Fedor is about to cinch it, but the cage made it easy for Brett to roll around and escape, that would most likely be the end of it in a ring.
No shadow over Brett though just using whatever is availible.
But the grabbing of the cage in the clinch when big john was not able to see was very close to beeing punishable.

Fedor won round 1. Rodgers was so anxious to get him but he couldn't.The fun part is that Fedor outplayed him in the game Rogers thought he had the advantage - meaning striking. On top of that Fedor was throwing him around and all Rogers managed to do is just push Fedor against the fence and hold him there for while despite his huge weight advantage. Fedor definitely impose his will on Rodgers through the entire fight and he confirmed it post fight when he said the fight went according to plan.

if you rewatch the GnP he got hit twice really, the others missed, then he got hit with the job in the beginning, and that's it.
But then Fedor hit him really hard in the first round even which ended up in another Fedor takedown, and then if you see towards the end Rogers was exhausted, and Fedor was completely fine.
i think he won it on points too, but in terms of his gameplan, I think it was even better, he tired brett out in the clinch

I've been watching Fedor for years and here's something you may want to know that you may have noticed I tell you this. Fedor has the history of harassing his opponent in the opening round and making sure his opponent uses their strength early in the fight. This is why he wanted to throw Rogers so that he'll use an enormous energy. I grinned after that moment. His done this many times. From now on, please notice this technique each time he fights. I've watched Fedor from day one. Lets say we have mutual friends back home.
Fedor never really has a plan. He doesn't he studies his opponents & learns their weak points & their strong ones just to see what he is up against which is normal. All fighters do it. But when on the ring it's a different story all together. He goes with the flow & to someone with his gift everything is done automatically. He doesn't even think of what he is going to do. Will see once on the ring that's his response!
That's why they compare him to Kasparov mentally because when Gary was asked how is he able to setup moves a head. His respond was I don't know I don't think about it when I'm in the game everything happens automatically.
Same with Fedor he pretty much is able to adopt, change positions, He doesn't think about anything once in the fight he just fights it's hard to explain but that's just the case his nose is broken Oh well just wipe it & keep going & I don't think he even though about that.

fedor looked like he would have alot of trouble controlling larger fighters like brock lesnar or shane carwin he is an incredible fighter who can win from any position but his small size is a MAJOR weakness
Brett Rogers weighs 280 and is 6 ' 5". Carwin and Lesnar are definately better wrestlers, but I don't think they are much stronger then rogers. The unfortunate thing is I am not exactly sure how good Brett Rogers is. I would like to see Rogers fight Brock Lesnar to see if Brock could control him on the ground better then Fedor did.
Fedor knew there was a punch cost of going for the arm bar when Brett was mounted. He has done that move a lot, and he knows he will take a couple punches on it. It wasn't a "gift" as it was the cost of that opportunity, but it was impressive that Brett got out. Other than that credit one jab to Rogers, a reversal, and an escape.
Ok but lets be honest, you can't possibly call fedor nr1 p4p. it's obvious that he has weaknesses. Some of his skills are outdated and he has trouble with the size of todays hws. So when fedor loses Im not calling him a bum but I am going to say that it's been coming.

Actually you still can call Fedor the best P4P, you cannot always dominate opponents 30Lb heavier any given moment in the fight. Put somebody 30Lb heavier in front of GSP, Silva or any other contender for "best p4p" and we will see their dominance or lack of weaknesses ;)

Who is best p4p? See the loss coming? Everyone else has losses... Don't forget Fedor fights Sambo as well so he is probably fighting more often than all the fighters.
Fedor`s armbar attempt was not just defensive, pounding was provoked by Fedor (as he always does being on his back) look at Fedor`s left arm before pounding, at first he controls Rogers right arm, then releases and touches Rogers right elbow inviting pounding with the only plan- armbar. Rogers was fast and only after 8 punches Fedor secured the left arm for armbar. So what I wanted to say- Fedor could prevent pounding as many other fighters do by hugging or controlling opponents arms.
Yeah finally someone else who recognises this, Fedor never defends ground and pound like most fighters do, he controls one arm so he can hit the armbar.

Analyst,I use to agree with you in almost every point of your predictions.That being said,I think you must be CRAZY if you think Rogers won the first round.
Please,re-watch the fight and see how the only thing Rogers did was to land a jab at the beggining and the flurry of punches in the middle of the round.Fedor drop him once,scored a couple of takedowns,and attempted a couple of subs too...

doliveij, I agree with you. When I first watched the fight, I thought Rogers could have stolen the round with some of that ground/pound. But after the juices cooled down, and I re-watched, I thought Fedor out worked and out classed Rogers.
By the way. I really liked Rogers, and still do. But, those after fight comments showed him as a sore loser. But I still think Rogers has a bright future.

If you watch the time warp version of the fight I posted, you'll see that Rogers's first jab wasn't hard and that he landed about three shots in the g & p, which didn't do much. Meanwhile, Fedor took Rogers down repeatedly, stunned him with a shot, and almost got an arm bar in the first round. And his KO was, if you look closely, a counter punch, keyed off Rogers's step into his left jab. Now it's time to test Fedor against a big dude who CAN wrestle. Josh Barnett, where are you?

Fedor was not that impressive in that fight,. The standup was even and he was getting hammered on the ground. Great finish in the 2nd but Rogers is not exactly a stud heavyweight..

Rogers landed a jab that bloodied (possibly broke) Fedor's nose, held him against the cage and landed some knees, and reversed into the top position and landed some gnp.
Fedor rocked Rogers, took him down twice, and had an armbar attempt.
4 significant events to 3. I think Fedor won the first round.

I agree about the cage part, i assume your talking about the armbar. Even before Brett started his gnp Fedor has Brett's left arm in his crosshairs, then blows starts raining and Fedor is about to cinch it, but the cage made it easy for Brett to roll around and escape, that would most likely be the end of it in a ring.
No shadow over Brett though just using whatever is availible.
But the grabbing of the cage in the clinch when big john was not able to see was very close to beeing punishable.

nice analysis bro. but i didn't see rogers winning the 1st. aside from cutting fedor with the jab and landing a couple of strikes from the GNP that didn't seem to hurt fedor, he was rocked i think twice by fedor and got taken down 3 times, so scoring wise, that was fedors round. fedor was going for his traditional armbar when he was in the bottom. props to rogers though for hanging on but no one appreciated his post fight remarks. BTW, sick intro song. keep up the good work bro!

Fedor won round 1. Rodgers was so anxious to get him but he couldn't.The fun part is that Fedor outplayed him in the game Rogers thought he had the advantage - meaning striking. On top of that Fedor was throwing him around and all Rogers managed to do is just push Fedor against the fence and hold him there for while despite his huge weight advantage. Fedor definitely impose his will on Rodgers through the entire fight and he confirmed it post fight when he said the fight went according to plan.

i thought he won the first round actually.
if you rewatch the GnP he got hit twice really, the others missed, then he got hit with the job in the beginning, and that's it.
But then Fedor hit him really hard in the first round even which ended up in another Fedor takedown, and then if you see towards the end Rogers was exhausted, and Fedor was completely fine.
i think he won it on points too, but in terms of his gameplan, I think it was even better, he tired brett out in the clinch

fedor definitely DID NOT LOSE the first or second round. clearly brett felt the impact of fedor's left hand punch much more than fedor felt the str8 jab even if fedor looked like he was in worse condition.

I've been watching Fedor for years and here's something you may want to know that you may have noticed I tell you this. Fedor has the history of harassing his opponent in the opening round and making sure his opponent uses their strength early in the fight. This is why he wanted to throw Rogers so that he'll use an enormous energy. I grinned after that moment. His done this many times. From now on, please notice this technique each time he fights. I've watched Fedor from day one. Lets say we have mutual friends back home.
Fedor never really has a plan. He doesn't he studies his opponents & learns their weak points & their strong ones just to see what he is up against which is normal. All fighters do it. But when on the ring it's a different story all together. He goes with the flow & to someone with his gift everything is done automatically. He doesn't even think of what he is going to do. Will see once on the ring that's his response!

That's why they compare him to Kasparov mentally because when Gary was asked how is he able to setup moves a head. His respond was I don't know I don't think about it when I'm in the game everything happens automatically.
Same with Fedor he pretty much is able to adopt, change positions, He doesn't think about anything once in the fight he just fights it's hard to explain but that's just the case his nose is broken Oh well just wipe it & keep going & I don't think he even though about that.

fedor looked like he would have alot of trouble controlling larger fighters like brock lesnar or shane carwin he is an incredible fighter who can win from any position but his small size is a MAJOR weakness

Brett Rogers weighs 280 and is 6 ' 5". Carwin and Lesnar are definately better wrestlers, but I don't think they are much stronger then rogers. The unfortunate thing is I am not exactly sure how good Brett Rogers is. I would like to see Rogers fight Brock Lesnar to see if Brock could control him on the ground better then Fedor did.

Fedor knew there was a punch cost of going for the arm bar when Brett was mounted. He has done that move a lot, and he knows he will take a couple punches on it. It wasn't a "gift" as it was the cost of that opportunity, but it was impressive that Brett got out. Other than that credit one jab to Rogers, a reversal, and an escape.

Ok but lets be honest, you can't possibly call fedor nr1 p4p. it's obvious that he has weaknesses. Some of his skills are outdated and he has trouble with the size of todays hws. So when fedor loses Im not calling him a bum but I am going to say that it's been coming.

Actually you still can call Fedor the best P4P, you cannot always dominate opponents 30Lb heavier any given moment in the fight. Put somebody 30Lb heavier in front of GSP, Silva or any other contender for "best p4p" and we will see their dominance or lack of weaknesses ;)

I disagree that you don't have to dominate. Boxing has had alot of champpions that have gone undefeated for periods of time, yet it's the dominance & quality of opponents that matter. Fedor's been looking shaky lately

That's the way Fedor has been fighting from day one! He is not the biggest or heaviest guy but he is the best. And he proves over & over that's why people love him. Same can be said of Randy.
How can you expect a fighter who is shorter, smaller & lighter by 40-60 lbs look dominant in the fight against a opponent who deserves to be there for his skill & ability and has all that advantage I listed. That's why we love Fedor he keeps us at the age of our seats. Plain & simple. He is the best p4p.

Fedor looked shaky? Fedor has been in trouble in alot of fights, but always gets it done. He gets cut alot, he eats shots (Cro Cop, Fujita) gets slammed on his head, then he wins. You cant have 32 proffesional fights in MMA and dominate everyone.
Fedor has this mythical misconception of being untouchable and it isnt true. He just always has his hand raised after the fight.

Fedor`s armbar attempt was not just defensive, pounding was provoked by Fedor (as he always does being on his back) look at Fedor`s left arm before pounding, at first he controls Rogers right arm, then releases and touches Rogers right elbow inviting pounding with the only plan- armbar. Rogers was fast and only after 8 punches Fedor secured the left arm for armbar. So what I wanted to say- Fedor could prevent pounding as many other fighters do by hugging or controlling opponents arms.

Outside of the 1 jab that Rogers landed that split Fedor's nose open, he didn't really do much. Even when he flurried on the ground, if you watch the replay nothing landed flush, he missed like 4-5 punches, and then hit him on the forehead with one. Fedor hurt Rogers and took him down twice pretty easily.

Roger did lose round one..he got rocked hard, and was taken down ..however i did like to see rogers getting off some good and pound and a nice reverse..but how hard is it to roll over someone that much smaller then you. all and all it was an awesome fight and im glad that fedor was tested cause he needs that time in the octagon...but also im hearing alot of people talking like did you see how bloody fedor was??? listen most of his fights he's bloody ..the man is a bleeder
