  • I believe that Ernie Ladd might have been referring to Peter Maivia (RIP) as the drunken indian during this promo. Peter Maivia of course was "The Rock's" grandfather. He died of cancer in 1982.

  • @lildwayne21. Or Wahoo McDaniel?

  • LMAO at this promo. Ernie Ladd was definitely one of the greatest heels of all time. His promos were intimidating, but at the same time funny as hell. OMG this promo is hilarious.

  • Lawrence Fishburn on steriods

  • @bigroy38 You are sooo right loi

  • 77 Line Backer for the San Diego Chargers

  • LMAO... who was the "drunken indian" he was referring to? I gotta love his comment about Tony Atlas

  • @roylucier It was Chief Jay Strongbow.

  • @mongoosesvd Oh, Strongbow. IIGHT....good lookin' out.

  • @lildwayne21 I'm pretty sure the Big Cat was talking about Wahoo McDaniel.

  • No, I have heard of you, really. Before the Mulkey Brothers wrestled for Crockett, they wrestled in Mexico as a trio. You are the long lost third Mulkey Brother!!! Way to go, whitey!!!

  • NFL=Steroids and concussions gone amok. Just look at excellen1 on here. He can't understand why nobody likes him. HA HA HA HA. Football rat, rright sweetie?

  • Too bad Ernie Ladd's knees were shot from football. Would have been even better.

  • Wow, there was straight up racism in these interviews back then.

  • Also, is Gordon Solie looking sharp as a tack in this clip or what?

  • @frrrrrunkis If you're using "sharp as a tack" as a euphemism for "like a pimp," then yes, Gordon was looking sharp as a tack.

  • Apparently Ernie Ladd got his wish and Tony Atlas *was* sent back to Africa. Remember Saba Simba?

  • Ladd has that studio audience eating out of the palm of his hand...The Big Cat could talk shit with the best of em!

  • This was when men purely built themselves up without steroids.Vince McMahon is the biggest selfish prick that destoyed the real image of wrestling.

  • @picark Hate to ruin your illusion, but Ernie Ladd used steriods when he played in the NFL. And the Road Warriors started the roid craze in the 80s, and that's before they were in WWF.

  • @xcellken1 roids were being used in the late 1959s and 1960s. Look at Dick The Bruiser. Beer and steroids and lots of heavy lifting. They've been used in bodybuilding just as long. Outside the fact that you're only 25 years off, or more, in your expertise of steroids and football...well, what more can I say. Get at LEAST one fact correct before you attempt to post

  • @BaronTurco Hey Baron, learn to fucking read English. I said the Road Warriora started the trend of roids in wrestlung, ie, after them, just about everyobne did them. I did NOT say they were the FIRST ones to use them.God damn, I'm so fucking sick of shit for brain turds attacking every fucking comment I leave on youtube. Never claimed to be an expert either, sleeps with your mommy dickbreath.

  • @xcellken1 Education is a dangerous tool in your hands tough guy.

  • @xcellken1 Gee. Did I say something to upset you? Go tell somebody who cares, which is nobody

  • @xcellken1 If you're sick of every comment you make being attacked, then why don't you shut your drooling mouth and realize that everyone on here hates you. That's probably nothing for you, eh Tex?. The quotes you attribute to me are all not what I said at all shithead. You have no idea who I am, other than twice the man you are, if you even are a man. I hear shemales are popular down in Houston with your ilk, which explains your smattering of knowledge of gay wrestlers or promoters..

  • Of course roids were being used in the early 60s. Ernie ladd ADMITTED AS MUCH in an intervuiew in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Sorry youtube only allowa 500 word comments. I can't establish my expwertise on a subject in such a short space. Oh yeah, eat shit and LIVE!!! (think about it)

  • @xcellken1 Dick using steroids was common knowledge in the biz. I've retired from the business years ago. You've got a big mouth for someone who's done nothing more than CLAIM to have read The Observer, or your retention is poor or you aren't telling the truth, as it also clearly stated there that The Bruiser was one of the first to useregularly. The question, why am, I even answering a punk like you? I spent over 25 years working in the business. Your" think about it" is real dumb, naturally.

  • @xcellken1 And you think you're some kind of expert.? What a laugh. You give reading a bad name. Ernie Ladd has not done an interview for Meltzer's Observer. They don't run interviews and never have. I've got every issue as I've been a subscriber back to when he first started and I was still working, so you tell me exactly where Ernie said this. Of course he used steroids. It's so easy to work up a mindless cretin like you. You fucking fool should keep your mouth shut or meet me face to face.

  • @BaronTurco Here we go, another diarrhea mouth keyboard warrior. Meltzer was talking about when he intterviewed Ladd. I didn't say the interview ran in the Observer. Once again, you claim I said things I never said.

Of course Ladd did steroids. HE TOLD MELTZER THAT HE DID. IN THE EARLY 60s!!! And about meeting me face to face. I live across the street from Lakewood Church in Houston. I own a limo company. Contact every limo company in Houston. Eventually, I'll answer the phone. then its on!!!

  • @xcellken1 That translates to you're a cab driver in Port Arthur. No, you never heard of me due to your own ignorance. That's not my fault. I used different names in different territories. Since I wrestled in Houston when Paul Boesch was promoting, you weren't paying attention. You continue to hide down there in southern Texas where you're safe. Come to L.A., or how about at CAC ? And seeing what you're like, I'm not the only one who'd shut your big mouth, but I insist on going first.

  • Baron Turdo. Worked in the bizness for 25 years. So fucking famous THAT I'VE NEVER HEARD OF YOU.

Steroids were always used in the bizness. I never said they weren't. I said they became ubiquitous after the Roid Warriors became popular. Oh, I used a big word that the big dumb pro wrestler doesn't understand. Go slice your forhead witha razor blade and bleed. Maybe someone will care about you then.

  • @xcellken1 "Ernie ladd ADMITTED AS MUCH in an intervuiew in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter" is your exact quote. You;re lying so much you can't keep track of what you're doing. Turdo, that's a good one I've heard maybe 300 times from morons who don't know wrestling. You've never heard of Baron Turco? True sign of a mark. Baron Turco is my screen name, not one of my wrestling names and who gives a shit if you ever hears of me? You aren't even a fan, just a possible smark

  • @BaronTurco And you said that I said the the Road Warriors were the first to use steroids in wrestling. So you're full of shit also. I meant to say "an interview he did with Dave Meltzer, who later wrote about it in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter". Excuse the fuck outta my inexact use of the English Language.

  • @xcellken1 Oh, you "meant" to say. Now I see. You cowardly POS

  • @xcellken1 Show me exactly where I said that. You can't, because I never said it.

  • I just realized that I HAVE heard of you. You were a go nowhere, loser bum job girl in the Central States Territory in the early 70s. Then your big break came when you went to work "under" JIm Barnett. Your next big career break came when you moved to San Francisco to work "under" Pat Patterson. How's that for a smark???

  • @xcellken1 I never worked as Joe Turco. Joe was a job guy. You're wrong on all points, naturally. You sure seem to possess Gay knowledge however, so I guess mybe you were one of Pat's boys? He taught you all of the behind moves, did he? HA HA. Your ignorance is quite amusing as I sit here laughing and you continue to get madder and madder. I;m quite sure there are a lot of workers and just common knowledge in the biz you have no clue about either. You have the mind of a mentally deficient mark,

  • @xcellken1 You coming to meet me face to face. You piece of chicken shit. Arguing with you is like fighting an unarmed man. I understand that your brother is a half-wit, yet he's twice as smart as you are. Weren't you involved in that Kroger meat scam? How many professional matches have you worked? How many shoots? Everr been in the ring with Dan Hodge? Who trained you? Where did you work?

Well, nobody cares as we already know the answers. Yes-0-0-No-nobody-noplace.End of conversion Tea Bag.

  • The Road Warriors POPULARIZED roids. they weren't the first to use them. Is that better??? BTW, where is your source that Dick the Bruiser used roids? I'd like to read that, since I never heard it before. Of course, I'm no fucking expert at you...Oh yeah, you're an expert at pulling used toilet paper outta your ass!!!

  • @picark Steroids happened to be popular at the time. Too many guys used them without working out and thought they would magically grow muscles. The Road Warriors didn't even popularize them as this moron xcrement says. Graham was using them in 1969 and so were others. I'll agree with the second half of your statement about Junior McMahon, my old buddy LOL. He and I hate each other on a face to face basis.

  • Guys like Ernie Ladd, Bruiser Brody, Wahoo Mcdaniel, Harley Race. They don't have guys like that anymore. Tough and mean and all man. One of the reasons that wrestling sucks now.

  • Ernie Ladd was one of the true greats.

  • "Brutha, I'm gonna pluck them feathaz" hahahahah!

  • "Get me somebody that qualifies like somebody. Somebody that's ridin' high like that Tommy Rich that

"Uncle Tom, Tony Atlas ,like that masked varmet, like that dirty stinking filthy dusty Rhodes. Somebody that's got a repa tation. Not a drunken Indian. All his people have ever done is stabbed people in the back. Well let that be a lesson to you... I'm from the Blackfoot tribe.............

Don't try to run me off Gordon....

  • There's never been a YouTube video with a more apt title...Erne Ladd is awesome.

  • How Red Fox can be a heel?

  • Does anybody know if The Big Cat has been inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame? If not, what a travesty.

  • @frogca Yes, He was inducted into the WWF/ WWE Hall Of Fame in 1995.

  • @frogca He should be. One of the greatest heels and toughest men ever. He needs to be in. They don't make em like him anymore.

  • This is absolutely priceless! I remember very well watching Ernie Ladd on Georgia Championship Wrestling. A true great, There will never be another like him!

  • Thank God for youtube. These interviews are awesome. I could watch The Big Cat on the mic all day.

  • the Big Cat gave sum of the funniest interviews in wrasslin history...lol

  • oh man this is great. no pulling punches, just seething with hate in his eyes. awesome heel. my kinda guy :)

  • Promises

    Promises

  • Lots of great wise cracks: "Drunk Indian full of whiskey, egg suckin' dog, he belongs back on the reservation in a tee pee, pluck some feathers, cigar store indian, and masked varmint , " priceless!!!!

  • Ernie never failed to entertain. RIP

  • Ernie Ladd was one of the great heels of all-time. I don't think a lot of wrestling fans today know about him because he kinda came before the whole wrestling explosion in the early 1980's. He was a great heel and a big draw in many different territories for years. As you can see from this promo, he was a true badass who could stir up any crowd. Just great stuff. A true original. RIP Big Cat.

  • The Big Cat. What a badass monster.

  • i had the pleasure of meeting Ernie when I was a kid. Great memories.

  • "I know he's back there full of wiskey." Lol!!! Ernie Ladd was just great. "I'm going to send Tony Atlas back to Africa." They don't make them like Ladd anymore. I am cracking up as I type this stuff. RIP Big Cat.

  • Top 10 best on the mic imo in no particular order: Ladd, Rhodes, Flair, The Rock, Hogan, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson,Jake Roberts.Superstar Billy Graham, Curt Henning.

  • @captkirk9797 how the hell can you not have the guy who most of those guys say is the best ad lib mic guy of all time. the rowdy scotsman, you know his name...

  • @captkirk9797

Throw in Piper, Heenan,Okerlund and Savage and we're done.

  • @joeyd1957 And Warrior. His promos were very intense and intimidating for their day. And have aged well I think.

  • Totally awesome!

He's 6'9", 320 pounds, and his feets cover the ground he walks on! No doubt about it!!!

  • This is 1 of the elements of wrestling that is a lost art form!!!!Back then u didnt just watched 2 see the action,u loved the interveiws cause the interviews were funny as hell and the wrestlers spoke from there souls not a script!!Thats why we watched! The promos alone would make you buy a ticket 2 go see it!!!!R.I.P to all the legends not here that gave us some good memories and 2 all that kept that good shit on tapes and decided 2 post the vids, keep posting them!!!!

  • This is toooo funny..lol..lol..lol

  • Gordon dressed like a 70's porn star

  • not very PC Big Cat!!

  • He called Wahoo McDaniel a drug store Indian with a cigar stuck in his mouth.

  • He called Wahoo McDaniel a drug store Indian with a cigar stuck in his mouth.

  • "talkin' out da side o yo mouth . . . . yak yak yak - yonk yonk yonk!"

  • Damn shame he and T bolt Patterson never tag teamed. "You REALLY better call somebody!"

  • @Staszu13 They did team up in IWA. There is a youtube clip of them teaming up against 2 jobbers.

  • @RonthaRon Oh yeah, I did see that after this one DOH!

  • The Big Cat was solid. It takes art to be a good heel.

  • pluck those feathers

  • I know he was full of whiskey......LOL

  • Great promo. You don't see anything like this anymore. RIP

  • the Great... cat Ernie Ladd --R.I.P--

  • "Egg Sucking Dawg" is a song by Johnny Cash Aand The Muppets." No question about it.

  • Ladd was even a heel playing in the AFL! Other players hated playing against him.

  • Former Kansas City Chief Ernie "The Cat" Ladd, one of the greats. Rest In Peace big cat.

  • @jteleha He was also a member of the San Diego Chargers. I believe he was arguably one of the best talkers in the 70's and early 80's. And we can agree he was one of the greats.

  • @jteleha Don't forget he played briefly with the San Diego Chargers as well.

  • Boy rasslin was good back then, it truley sucks now

  • There was also a shoot when Ernie asked Gordon if he had been drinking - cause "I smell whiskey in the ring...it must have been that drunken Indian then..."...

  • I'd say Flair vs. Ladd as far as promos was about even too...even though arguably the WWF had the bigger names, we enjoyed Georgia Wrestling's angles and interviews way more, some great personalities! Someone PLEASE post the match where Ladd DID pluck Strongbow's feathers! It was hilarious!

  • Gordon in sunglasses. Must had have a few too many Screwdrivers the night before taping.

  • @RayNDeere

Lol, that might have been true...but I did see way back someone said he had an eye infection.

  • I'M GONNA PLUCK THEM FEATHERS!!!"

  • "What do you think about that Gordon?"

    "Shut up out there!"

"But that egg-suckin' dog drunken Indian"

"I know you're out there somewhere watching television full of whiskey"

"Masked Varmint, I'm gonna unmask you and show the world that you are indeed a criminal!"

    LOLOLOLOL......ROTFLMAO!

  • Comment removed

  • In terms of funny heel promos, I gotta put Ernie's heel promo here with Shawn Michaels Hulk Hogan impersonation in 05 and The Rock's "Rock Concert" in Sacramento.

  • Where's his crown?

I used to laugh like hell when Ladd would did in to his trunks and the announcer would say, "HE HAS SOMETHING IN HIS TRUNKS!!!" I always wish somebody would shout out, "YEAH, IT'S HIS JOHNSON!!!"

  • If it was Stan Hansen or Terry Funk saying those exact things I would cringe, but coming from the Big Cat it;s hysterical!

  • I loved the big cat back in those days. I've always enjoyed the rawness of the old school wrestlers. I never took offense to the racial overtones, I just laughed at it. Mr. Ladd stated he enjoyed when the fans used the N- word toward him because he knew he was doing his job. A true legend.

  • This man can talk an has a great voice!

  • Amazing statements by Mr. Ladd about Chief Wahoo McDanial. Mr. Ladd is heard ranting out racist epithets. Mr. Ladd himself refused to be type cast as a Black/Negro/ African American "Soul Brother" wrestler. Wreling is known to incite emotional fan responses by hyping up the differences such as religion, national origin, culture, size, color political views, sexual orientation, etc.

  • who's the drunken indian he's talking about?

  • Actually it was Chief Jay Strongbow, who actually came down to Georgia in 1979. There was a classic, hilarious clip on youtube in which Ernie Ladd stuffed Indian feathers down the mouth of Chief Jay.

  • @RonthaRon

I remember that clip, back from Georgia Wrestling! That WAS hilarious!

  • So much racism packed into a mere 1:12...

If only things were this good today...

  • Ernie Ladd was one of Pres. George H.W. Bush's best friends! Mr Ladd was called "The King of Wrestling" and wore a crown. He was also "The Big Cat." He sometimes would start foaming at the mouth while being interviewed. He was one of the best old school dirty wrestlers and cheat-to-win managers in the squared circle.

  • That's what's missing from wrestling these days...the interviews!

  • I wanna see more Ernie Ladd promos. He was real good on the mike.

  • this brings back memories....nowadays this type of stuff wouldn't fly because we are all too hyper sensitive....pluck some feathers full of whiskey ...i love it!!!!!!!!!!! where do you guys get these videos from?

  • The Big Cat, favorite line was 'YOU BETTER GET ON THE PHONE AND CALL SOMEBODY!"

  • Ernie the Big Cat Ladd my father in law!! He is truly truly missed.

  • As a young kid I painted 77 on my Chargers Helmet out of respect to the Big Man. Ernie Ladd was the best!

  • Ernie the CAT was a classic. I use to watch him wrestle in Utica NY back in 1970.

  • My favorite Ernie Ladd line of all times, "There's two things I hate, cats chasing dogs and broken down wrestlers chasing me!"

RIP Big Cat you are still the man today. That trash that is out now is not what I call wrestling!!!!!

  • Would you say that Ladd was one if not the most underrated guy on the mic ever? I think he and Dick Murdoch were so underrated. They were "Gods of the Mic".

  • And they were both hillarious as heels in promos. Murdoch didn't care who or how he insulted somebody and Ladd was just plain ol' mean and grouchy-that's why we loved 'em.

RIP Ernie Ladd and Dick Murdoch.

  • "that egg-sucking dog drunken indian"..........this is straight hilarious.....

  • ernie ladd was the funniest wrestler ever i love to hear him talk rest in peace big cat.

  • LOL were gonna send him back to africa

  • 0:09 LOL!!!!!!!!!! SHUT UP OUT THERE!!!!!

Im going to say that in one of our weekly meeting at work one day soon (after I update my resume, of course)

  • Wrestling II is a masked varmit.

  • you belong on the reservation in a teepee...LMAO

  • Ernie & Ole were classic on the mic.

  • There is no doubt that The Rock took a lot of his style from Ernie Ladd.

  • Ernie Ladd was a classic. Loved what he had on the back of his ring jackets: "Promises, Promises"

  • Ernie Ladd was HILARIOUS!!! The Masked Varmit (Mr.Wrestling II) was a criminal, LMAO!!

  • Without a doubt, the GREATEST interviews in wrestling history and done by Ernie Ladd

  • I like it when Ernie Ladd calls Gordon Solie "Mr TV Announcer" and tells Solie he talks out of both sides of his mouth...YICK YICK YICK and YACK YACK YACK !!!

  • Funny thing, I always thought it was only white people who were supposed to be racists.

  • Send Tony Atlas back to Africa?!? Ernie Ladd...Republican.

  • @yardlet6 Funny thing is Tony Atlas did go back to Africa- Saba Simba

  • That drunken indian, I KNOOOOOW he's fulla whiskey!! The Big Cat & Solie with the 2-day hangover shades, rockin' the mike!

  • shut up out there

  • He did end up plucking those feathers on tv when he tried to jump the Chief and got the sleeper put on him and then he faked like he was asleep and then hit the chief with a shoe to the head. Then he tied up the chief and tore up his headress and stuffed down his gullet and tights lol

  • I'm gonna pluck those feathers! LOL

  • "BIG CAT" Ernie Ladd

  • Funny.....So Funny......Grouchy, Loud, politcally incorrect, and FUNNY!

  • He reminds me of Grady of Sanford & Son.

  • Drunken indian belongs back on teh reservation in a teepee...you can't make this stuff up. If only a white guy could say that.

  • @hansumjoe Ric Flair once called Rufus R. "Freight Train" Jones Kunta Kinte during a televised argument. I wonder how that would go over today. In his book, he said the real racists were The Missouri Mauler & Brute Bernard. Interesting that Mauler would later manage The Cyclone Negro on Mid-Atlantic.

  • How would you rank Ernie against Flair, in terms of heel promos?

  • @lettersfromaboy I'd say that they were about even.

  • Ernie was an equal of Flair in delivery but Flair's timeless, Ladd would get a company taken off tv with his promos:-).

  • @hansumjoe Sgt. Slaughter did on an episode of Mid-Atlantic. He was going off on Wahoo McDaniel and asked Bob Caudle if they had televisions inside of teepee's now. Classic.

  • Solie sporting some dark shades!

    I love Ladd's promos.

  • At the time Gordon Solie wore those shades to protect his eyes due to an eye infection.

  • I know you're somewhere full of whiskey & watching television. Ernie was the best at interviews.
