I recently got this lens for my nikon d90. and i think it has some kind of focus/optic's issue.. the right side of picture doesn't look so great. but middle and left side are sharp almost to the edge not much falloff., but right side it's not focused or what u can call it. it's really a hit and miss with the shots. i tried to stop it down, @ f/8 better but can be bad to. f/4 it supposed to be the sharpest all over, after tha u loose sharpness in the middle,
Thanks for the vid. This helped me get the dust and debris out from behind the front element on my Tamron AF18-200 F/3.5-6.3 (A14). On my lens there are six screws under there - three for the wonky hood issue, plus three more that hold the element in place. 2 out of 3 came out with no issue, though the third and final screwhead did get bit stripped. Went back in good enough though. I was quoted $80-160 to get this lens serviced, but only paid $350 for it new.
i fixed it on mine. You need a tiny screwdriver, remove the front plastic ring, tighten down the 3 tiny screws and put all back. there's a how-to on this somewhere online.
Yep. Made in China. Took it into the Tamron headquarters in Hong Kong while I was there on holiday and they fixed it for free, it only took about 5 mins. Great service!

There is a notch where you can lift up and the screws are hidden underneath. Just tighten them and you'll be fine.

I have the same problem but I fixed it. I guess the problem is the hood which is too stiff for this low-quality plastic.

Конечно, если так расшатывать то оно вообще скоро отвалится...

Yeah, you may as well pay twice the price for plastic shit.
GrimlyKK 3 years ago 3
At least it wouldn't be LOOSE plastic shit.

Oh, that might be true enough :)

tamron has 6yrs warranty. beats canon.
edmondov 3 years ago
I only know of the 6 year warranty in the US. I don't think it is available anywhere else. Certainly not in Europe.
