It's a bit hard to find, though, so try looking for Rupert Grint (who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies) as he had a tiny part early in his career. Splash from 1984 has the MOST realistic mermaid in a movie. Seriously you can hardly tell shes even human. They did such a great job of not showing the wrinking where the knees bend which all producers fall into the trap of. Also they didnt use to some computer generated effects which really takes a toll on some movies that they air now adays. Also the oelvic, heels and dorsal fins look amazing. Good Job Ron Howard, nuff said.

Yes Ive also seen the making of that film. They nicknamed the tail shrimp wrap because it took so many hours to put on that when she was wearing it she more or less had to lie around in it all day, couldn't change out of it or anything

You can. Buy a monofin, its like 2 flippers but not seperated to help you swim faster. To make a mermaid tail some people make a suit around the fin to help them kick faster and swim faster
