I'm from Boston. I was born and raised up here. I never saw a Whalers game because I was born over a year after they left. But, I support any New England team. From the Red Sox all the way to the CT Whale. I support the idea of having two NHL teams in New England. I am a major Bruins fan, but if Hartford gets a team, I will support. And at least the Wolf Pack rebranded itself to the Whale. I hope now the Whalers Booster Club and the Whale Booster Club gets along well now.
from a hurricane fan's perspective, i am definitely in admiration of hartford's love of their lost team. they established a really big history from the early 70's on and can forever say the likes of ron francis and gordie howe played there. i would be very welcome if i ever saw a whaler fan at the rbc center and i do hope the whalers return to hartford in some way. i will say i love the hurricanes WAY more than nba, ncaa, and nfl. and this team reminds me of the hornets leaving charlotte..
@LukeCawston Atlanta YES, Phoenix YES, Panthers YES, Nashville NO, Tampa Bay NO. Tampa Bay does well in nearly every category. It also doesn't hurt to win a Stanley Cup and as I type this, possible make another trip back to the finals. The Predators believe it or not, have a good fan base and do generate good revenue. They also tend to put scrappy good teams on the ice.
@LukeCawston nashville is doing quiet good and tampa established itself after the stanley cup win.surely the teams in phoeniz,florida/miami,atlanta must move back to quebec city, hartford and winnipeg ahhh NEWS the WINIPEG JETS are back in the NHL yeaahhh you see dont stop believin.i hope quebec and hartford and Seattle get teams very soon.
The Coyotes are NHL owned and Atlanta is about to be. These Southern abominations that have no respect for the sport will move. Unfortunately Bettman will cling to his pipedream to the end and would rather move a team to Honolulu than North of the Mason-Dixon line, let alone Canada. But Whalers Fest, the Nordiques rally (and stadium bid), and the situations in Hamilton and Winnipeg give me hope for a better NHL.
I feel all of you. Just like in Hartford Winnipeg's AHL team is the AHL team for the Jets old rival the Vancouver Canuks. The Manitoba Moose franchise is so negative towards Winnipeg Jets fans that they have a policy that they will not show Winnipeg Jets fans on camera. I've experianced this sensorship first hand. Go Jets Go and go all WHA teams lets all fight for the cause and bring our teams back.
@FanWpgJets If you look up the history of the Wolf pack you will find that they used to be known as the Binghamton Whalers of Binghamton Ny.....then they Became the Binghamton Rangers and were affilliated with the rangers..Then they moved to Hartford and became the Wolf Pack....only to become the Whale..... still associated with the rangers....hmmmm.......not to mention the Hartford Civic Center Has been Owned by Madison Square Garden for many years now.....
Just curious what you guys think about the new connecticut whale? I saw their first game the other night and the place was packed....walking around Hartford after it was like the Whalers were back.....BRING EM BACK!!!
i still have my geoff sanderson authentic jersey...ccm with fightning strap...all my whalers hats and a ton of memorabilia....ive lived in tampa for a while so i follow the lightning these days but i will always bleed blue and green.......you can find me at the st. pete times forum pretty easily...im the guys wearing the whalers jersey.
Greetings from the state of hockey (Minnesota). I certainly feel your pain. I still remember when the North Stars left here and how sad that was. I remember reading that local and state politicians were trying to get the Patriots to move to Hartford and thus the Whalers were put on the backburner. IT SUCKS THAT BOTH OUR FORMER TEAMS WON THE CUP AFTER MOVING TO THEIR NEW CITIES. Plus the fact that our two states are much bigger for hockey at all levels than either Texas or North Carolina.
@1968ewp We in Dallas appreciate the Stars. Its a damn shame they had to be stolen from Minnesota. Unlike other Southern abominations hockey has exploded here. I grew up with the Stars coming to Dallas, a Stanley Cup, the heartbreak of losing the Cup. We now have hockey teams at most high schools in the Dallas area. My younger brother is on the track of playing college hockey at Division I. At least Minnesota got a team back and Dallas sells seats.
@SubterraneanAviators dallas is lucky to get 13,000 people a night and are at the bottom of the standings in terms of attendance. but that statement that the stars sell seats was pretty funny.
I really, really miss the Whalers and strongly believe they will be back...someday. This is an earnest film, but it lacks something. I don't know if it's the fact that it's little more than an ode to Al Victor and his cronies, or that it lacks irony, or what, but it isn't what I thought it would be. Good effort, though...it just needs something else to make it stronger.
@bashaw73 It needs less blame this guy blame that guy, i don't want to see the wolfpack (CT Whale) play type whining and more we need to go see the CT Whale every game, pack the XL Center to capacity at least once a month, keep attendance above 10,000, and show that we deserve a new arena AND an NHL franchise. It could also use some bashing of hockey in the south.
It's really easy to say that when your team still exists. This guy reminds me of a line George Carlin once said "it's only a game." "That is what the guy that loses says."

5:13 "Bottom line is, we are all hockey fans."
Nice cliche statement, to quote George Carlin "It's just a game....................to the guy that loses."
If the Rangers ever left town, you would shit an eggroll.

Teams in Atlanta, Phoenix, Nashville, Florida, Tampa Bay dont deserve hockey teams.
