  • I still have one and it still works. It has Sonic Pocket Adventure in it. Ill sell it if U want it....

  • @tullyman82 Talk to me about this in Private and we'll see if we can arrange something.

  • so pretty much neo geo and sega decided to work together to defeat the 2 competitors (nintendo and sony playstation)

correct me if im wrong :l

  • The way the screen looks in this commercial is REALLY bad false advertisement. Can't believe they got away with that

  • LOL always loved how it said linkable to DC on the US ad but I'm pretty sure the link cable only sold in Japan.

  • I discovered the existance of this little gem playing "doki doki majo shinpan", an SNK hentai game for DS....

  • why did the Commercial show back lit screen.?????????

  • whoever invented graphics i wanna punch em in the face becus thats all people think bout these days and this is better then a ds

  • @micahj17 Without graphics, there is no game.

  • @link70222 text based games

  • @Petergriffin172 still Text is graphics if its got pixels it's a graphics game :P

  • @Yijral I suppose you are correct.

  • @Petergriffin172 Yea. I guess I am :D

  • @Yijral Not really, while text may have pixels, some certain video boards can produce text, but can not address individual pixels, or change the video characters that are in ROM. Therefore not really graphics.. More like ASCII art.

  • @hakemon Yeah. I see where your going from.

  • I forgot you could link that thing to the dreamcast

  • if only it had been backlit. ;(

  • i have a reaction were my head explodes when i see this

  • wow........ngpc to dreamcast? haha

  • I haven't seen this commercial since 3 grade and i am 20 years old now.

    time fly's

  • someone needs to create games for this...

is there any cartridge that lets you play games downloaded from the internet?

I just want to play homebrew games on one =3

  • I watched tv quite often and i never ever ever saw this commercial once

  • @dogeymon83 It came out in 1999......so i doubt YOU saw it

  • @NintendoDSinerd - why would you doubt I never saw it?? I'm 28 years old.

  • good idea to addvertise you're system by making exlpode into the sun you should've made kill zombies with a flame thrower

  • The graphics blew me away. I just returned from being blown to the moon and recently saw Nintendo's 3DS. Now the NGPC looks like a Gameboy.

  • I loved mine! Wicked little machine :)

  • is that new sony NGP? xD

  • I had one of these. Used to play puzzle bobble on it all the time. It wasn't as good as the game gear or gameboy but it still kicked ass and is truly underrated.

  • SNK and Sega were working together at the time.

  • cool! its 16 bit

  • Fuck you SONY NGP!!!

    this is original NGP!!!

  • Me and my friends were on this at the time..the only ones in our school who had even heard it was out..

we coined ourselves...the neo geo TRIO

    o dear.

  • I honestly have no idea how this failed. it is kickass!! (i use the built in alarm clock as my regular alarm clock every morning!!!)

  • This handheld rocks! Love playing greats like "Sonic Pocket Adventure" and "Puzzle Link" on it.

  • Good Times

  • i lol when i heard "the graphics will blow you away" now that theres psp's and ps3's n shit

  • The graphics did blow me away! It was awesome in 2001 :D

  • if only it had a backlit screen...

  • @lolfreak21196 Indeed. In my book that would have made it the best handheld ever. And speaking of backlit, yeaaaaaa this is total false advertisement. The one in the commercial is clearly backlit.

  • @BabyWetsAllNight actually even you are wrong since the one in the commercial is clearly a simulated image

  • lol and 2 years later the advance comes out and well.....RAPED!!!

  • Wasn't this thing non backlit? That's some pretty amazing fucking screenshots for something non-backlit....*cough*.

  • i have the same one shown in the commercial

  • I still have Neo Geo Pocket Color. I used to play with that thing most of the time. I actually like this one better than my Game Boys I still have. But sadly, Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure is the only game I have.

  • wow 16 bits thats imposible lol

  • Hot damn, I remember seeing this commercial when I was but a tyke. God bless this and the Dreamcast.

  • The p of the Neo geo pocket logo reminds me of that dreamcast logo LOL!

  • this thing was better than any gameboys

  • @SuperSureno13 and the ps3 is better than the wii and 360 graphically lol ooops thats not working to well either

  • @ProtoMario What are you talking about? The PS3s graphics are balls. Especially Must-have games like Little Big Planet, and Fat Princess... It'll fall flat on its face trying to mimic the Wii. Don't come crying to me if that multicolored lightbulb on your dildo breaks. The Wii is not the best in the graphics department, but it IS fun to play. I think the 360 as well as the Wii shun the PS3 in every aspect. Wii & 360 smear the PS3.

  • @IvoryGecko1993 Look fella all game systems fall flat somwhere chill out.

  • @IvoryGecko1993 I totally agree. I like to think that Wii and the 360 are tag-teamed against PS3. Not to mention Sony killed the Dreamcast...I'll never forgive them for that one.

  • @Bdizz2012 Yes. Sony DID kill the Dreamcast because of 1 thing, and 1 thing only... DVD COMPATABILITY!!!!! But the 360 does a far superior job!

  • @IvoryGecko1993 True, true. Also, nice Gex icon. I fuckin' love that game. XD

  • @Bdizz2012 Hey, I love Gex too, thats why I'm Gecko1993. You should visit gexup's channel, its a channel devoted to the little wise cracking gecko. Go check out gexup.

  • @IvoryGecko1993 Yeah I love his vids. Hope he ends up reviewing the first Gex.

  • @IvoryGecko1993 only if your mom wont let you play m rated games, which is your situation so your hating on ps3 lol, little kids like you should not be on youtube, go play with your trucks

  • how could you link it up to a Dreamcast?

  • There was a cord sold separately designed to connect it to a Dreamcast that would transfer Data and game points you could spend within the games to purchase extra content.

  • @StriderReborn That didnt work so good though....V_v i has one

  • @StriderReborn

Dreamcast is from Sega, and Neo Geo is from SNK.

So how can the Pocket Colour and the Dreamcast link each other up? Did Sega and SNK work together to develop?

  • Ahhh good memories.

  • poor neo geo pocket... It was the dreamcast of portable games.

  • @Mattster111997 Yea. It was.

  • This reminds me of the "Buzz Lightyear" commercial from Toy Story.

  • NOT A FLYING TOY.

  • the neo geo was to cool to bad they dont have a more moderen one cus the games were awesome

  • it did, but only with SNK made games.[ and only utilized data transfer] the cable was uber hard to get as well.

  • way ahead of the game, and way ahead of its time.

  • gr8

  • Metal Slug and the fighting games are fricking awesome!

  • damn good commercial for a damn good system.

  • My older cousion still has his black neogeo pocket with SNK vs Capcom

  • I Just Won a NGPC Off Ebay With Metal Slug 1 and Baseball For About 30 Bucks!

I Still Want Sonic Pocket Adventure, Though.

  • nice!

  • 146 colors lol

  • the revolving joystick what a plus this thing was better than GBA its too bad it didnt have the same marketing as nintendo

  • 16 bit my ass, most of the games felt 8 bit at best.

  • the console is 16-bit , but the the sprites can only use 3 colors , which make them look VERY 8-bit.

the backgrounds though can use up to 146 colors , which looks odd with such poor color-amount on the moving parts and such elegant coloring on the backgrounds.

  • That music is kind of scary..! I have no idea who their target market was; its almost like they where trying new cool things but without vision; w/e im glad you can get on ebay for like 30 bucks now; cause i hear the fighting games are cool.

  • Linkable to the Sega Dreamcast, that's cool and all but what about the Neo Geo AES? Why didn't SNK support this for their own console too? The AES lasted longer than the Dreamcast, yet the NGPC die with the Dreamcast instead. For shame SNK.

  • Because even though the AES technically lasted longer, NOBODY owned the system outside of a VERY niche collection of enthusiasts.

  • Well...

It had superior hardware, but the head "Suits" never had any 3-party contact. It'd be coll to see them do something like port doom or wolfenstein like the gba

  • 146 color display??? you have to be kidding me, how is that possible?? when did we go over 16 colors??

im gonna bbs this over my 2.4kbps baud rate phone line, damn this 386 takes time to boot up windows 3.1,

I should have gone all the way and bought that extra 1.5 megabytes of ram, SkiFree would have ruled!

  • the best pocket console ever made!!!!!

  • yup this was the best. it was way better than game gear, gameboy, and the advance.

  • i do i just dont waste time watching this shit.

  • are you stupid?

what makes you think i'm a sand nigger?

just 'cause my picture looks like i'm middle eastern?

lol, buddie get your eyes checked, please..

never knew i can be a race that i'm not even born with..

this shows how people like you fail in life..

  • i'd say hispanic but my friend is puerto rican and his g/f is lebanese and she looks puerto rican too...and acts like she is ha ha until someone speaks spanish to her then she walks away

  • oh and btw, I NEVER said that I didn't had a youtube account, you dumbfuck..lol.

  • better than gba !!

  • This looks like it could've been a bit more successful with more 3rd party support.

I have to say, this was the biggest (well, kinda) threat to the Gameboy since the Game Gear at the time.

  • @MajorasWrath97 wonderswan color was more succesfull

  • @MajorasWrath97 Yeah, and it would've helped SNK pay off of their debts that way they would'nt have gone bankrupt.

  • True...

  • @MajorasWrath97 I am glad you agree. I wish this system became popular, but it didn't because of all of the NINTENDO-LOVING litle brats out there that wanted Gameboy more than SNK. Yes, Gameboy is a great handheld, but I just think SNK should also be in the limelight instead of Nintendo all of the time, you know?

  • @MysticArksRevenge Uhh it didnt become popular because you couldnt save half the stupid games, almost every super nes game you could save, and for that matter every gameboy game saved too. why the hell didnt other game systems do that!

  • @MajorasWrath97 it would have been more successful if it was cheaper

  • @Arsonloke It was the same price as the Game Boy Color on release, and used more powerful hardware.

  • @MajorasWrath97

GBA came out a year later and blew it away in graphics since Neo Geo Pocket could noy scale and rotate 2D sprites like the Sega Genesis while GBA could like SNES.

  • I am sad that this is one of the systems that was over looked for a gameboy. It's too bad. GBC had the power of 12 bit, if i'm not mistaken.

  • I thought GBC was an 8-bit system like the original Game Boy... then again, you may be right. :-)

  • Well, here are the bits of the Nintendo Handhelds(no game&watch)

    Game Boy : 8bit

Game Boy Color : Normally 8bit(like Pokemon when not in battle) can be pushed to 16bit(like Donkey Kong Country port)

Game Boy Advance : 32bit(just didn't have the space to look as good as PS1)

    DS : 64bit

PS: The N64 is 32bit. The thing that is 64bit is the CPU. The graphics, like the PS1, are 32bit. For the N64 to not have as much memory in the games, N64 looks far better than PS1.

  • The Z80 is 8-bit and cannot be pushed into 16-bit.

  • The heck is the Z80?

  • Obviously, not knowing what the the Z80 is, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

  • Yes, I do. Me and my friends on Vizzed, friends who know what they're talking about, told me. Before you make yourself look like an ass, I'd recommend you research before speaking.

  • then why in hell would you say you don't know what it is

  • I don't know what Z80 is, but I do know what I'm talking about

  • i had snk vc capcom that game was fricken sweet , cool combos awesome controlls

  • I think the Neo-Geo Pocket (and its color version) is the most underrated handheld ever in VG history, according to my opinion. :-) Sure wish I had one!

  • I agree with you! It is also one of the most overlooked ones.

  • I still have one and it still works!!!

  • i got mine 20 dollars!

  • this linked to the dreamcast? anyway.. i have a neo geo pocket color. a blue and black camo one. the only game i have is conic pocket adventure. its pretty fun.

  • Yep, I used to do it - you could link up Campom VS SNK match of the millenium with the Dreamcast version, also the Cardfighters games.. I used to have the little cable - I think the VMU had something to do with it as well, like some new mini games - pretty awesome stuff.

  • NEVER MIND!!!!!! FIREFOX WAS MESSING UP THE VIDEO I RESTARTED VIDEO PLAYS FINE NOW W/ SOUND

odd...first time FF does that to a youtube video o.o

anyways great video i wanted this so bad as a kid...16bit portable was unseen bak then 8bits were still popular. I wanted that so bad when it was new.

    SNES is also

16bit...so imagine how powerful that thing musta been cuz the Neo Geo Color game cartriges held RAM in them ;)

  • VIDEO STOPS PLAYING..I SCROLL TO A LATER TIME...AND IT STOPS AGAIN..UM WTF?

     o___O

  • Urgh, that was a reply to si8838, I hate it when YouTube does this.

  • why dreamcast?

  • i think its because some of the snk games were on the DC

  • Because SNK also made games for the DC. And you could unlock stuff by transferring data between the games.

  • I want to get my hands on one of those! I'm looking to buy a Neo Geo Pocket, anytime soon.

  • Links to the dreamcast? SWEET!

  • I love my Neo Geo pocket! ^_^

  • ha i just sold mine for 20$

  • Wow whoever bought one for $20 off you was lucky. :P

  • Compared to what was out at the time, yes it did. Unless you were one of the guys that liked creamed spinach colored handhelds.

  • The graphics will blow me away! WHAT?

  • lmao

  • @ramir233 well ya in 1999 they would have

  • Dreamcast what

  • YAY!

I can't wait for mine to get delivered to my house!

  • I wonder what's SNK's worst console?

  • None of them were bad, but all of them were way too expensive...

  • This system was equal to the GB Advanced and came out two years before it.

  • my m8 got given one but with no games pissed

  • I still have mine.

My grandma plays sonic on it.

  • Sonic Pocket Adventure ALONE makes me want this system.

  • yeah Sonic Pocket adventure is awesome.

  • i wanted the system for that game and metal slug 2nd mission.

  • I had one and a gamebot

  • It's too bad SNK was such an awful company, they supported the thing for a few months and then they pulled the plug. It really made this thing a waste of money, especially since it was way better than GBC.

  • What SNK did made sense though. NGPC had no chance competiting against Game Boy Color in sales worldwide and the Pokemon games only made matters worse. Realize that it costs game companies money to distribute hardware and if no one buys the units, they are basically losing money.

  • how can you call a company which made great series like Metal Slug, and King Of Fighters awful. sure they made mistakes in the past (such as retailing the Neo-Geo AES for the same price as the PS3), but this company was mindblowing then and it still is now.

  • hmm i never really knew this thign exsited. i had the gb and gbc. lol ;p

  • no, You Suck!!

  • yeah, you suck dude. Just because you can't win a round in KOF doesn't mean you should complain. Respect the Neo.

  • jesus christ man. You obiously don't understand that it's all about the games... wait does PSP have any games??

  • Yes...

  • good one.

  • GTA games, Syphon Filter games, God of War, Daxter, Crush, Jenne d'Arc, Dead Head Fred, tales of the World, Castlevania: THe dracula X chronicles, lord of the rings tactics, and Crisis Core to name a few key PSP only titles...Atomduck I totally agree with you about the Neo having games but don't say that the PSP dosent because it A LOT! :}

  • has alot*

  • one problem tho- only like 4 are not ports. T_T

  • People don't buy PSPs for the games at all, its all about the hacking and homebrew. Only kids actualy buy the games. Or people download the games.

  • your right a majority of people buy the psp only for hacking but im sure theirs a small number of people like me who just want to buy and play the psp games, its kinda like the sega dreamcast all over again...

  • psp games are bloody terrible though! there are only a few good ones e.g god of war, and the gta's. i have more fun playing emulated old skool console games on my psp then the actual standard psp games!

  • To xtremeg4mer:

Agreed I mean The only umd game i have is god of war chains of olympus i have mainly the old school emulators on my psp(sorry if that came out wrong)i loved my genesis until my cousins had to destroy it

  • @xtremeg4mer agreed i have 7 psp games and 6000 emulated games

  • @xtremeg4mer PSP games are terrible? You couldn't be more wrong. Its the best non-nintendo handheld by far.

  • @JuicyPlayer best non-nintendo handheld is SEGA Nomad

  • @Vortexcz84 Its a portable Genesis so it doesn't count. Also people that hate the PSPs battery life haven't seen nothing with the Nomad.

  • @xtremeg4mer especially racing games, argh i hate it! gran turismo 5 suck in psp Tbh.

  • @xtremeg4mer old comment. psp games are good now

  • I got one, and it's awesome!! I love metal slug, and now its in my back pocket!

  • its sad that it failed so

  • the Neo Geo was waaaaay ahead of its time

  • i got one is freaking awsome!!!

  • When I got this in 10th grade, I was so cool! Everyone in school wanted to play it, and several other kids got one after they saw mine. Shortly after SNK USA closed its doors and the NGPC died an early death. Too bad, it was a great system!!!

  • i got that and a dreamcast but how to u conect them?

  • You need a cord, which you can probably find from various sellers on the internet.

  • It also helps if you have a game that supports the connection. Capcom Vs. SNK, for instance, allows you to import points for use with purchasing features.
