i have a good dell 2400 and it has the pent. 4 2.5 and 256 ram in 1-slot i have herd that this computer wont be safe if i upgrade to 1-gig ram what would you recomend i do to upgrade my ram can i add one 512 ddr 333mhz in the other slot safely or should i just replace the 256 ram with 1- that is 512 or will it work with both slots ddr 333mhz 512??? please let me know
As someone who knows absolutely zilch about the workings of a computer, I understood and appreciated this vid very much. I have so many questions, like, is there a maximum amount of memory for my Dell Dimension 3000? I need to do some research into all the acronyms for the various parts. Random Access Memory is my starting point. Wish me luck
Make sure you press down on the RAM so it clicks in automatically, and not just pull the latches onto it.. My RAM wasn't pushed down far enough and I had to re-install it.

You should always try to match ram when you are replacing them.
So if you when you buy, Do 2 pieces of 512mb
(512MB-DDR333 PC2700 OR 512MB DDR400 PC3200)
If you dont want to buy 2, Then buy 1 512 or 1GB but match your current 256mb speed(ddr266 2100 or dr333 2700 or ddr400 3200)
You can also go up to 2GB But that is expensive> Let me know if that helped

So will you lose all of your stuff from the other ram piece? Or what lol. I know nothing about this!

@seandisbro2013
Funny. You will not lose any data in this upgrade,
Hard drives keep all your data, ram is used to run programs and software. It does not store any data. Good luck!
