I wouldn't say straight to DVD. The film premiered at festivals in San Francisco and Seattle. It also went through a rough distribution deal with a sales agent that took advantage of us. We finally made it available on DVD ourselves. With a total budget of $25K, I'd say we did a decent job, effects and all. The thing to understand about "straight to DVD" is that without millions of dollars for marketing, most films never make it to the theaters. It's a sad fact, but the way the business works.
thanks for the reply... didn't expect one actually :) I got an idea whilst reading it though, why not do what software developers do, i.e. beta testing. It's free, u could get people like me (or hundreds coz it's the internet) to give u feedback on scenes, then maybe u'd have a path like: movie -> instant hit -> bathtub filled of dollar bills!
Wish I could see more of it. I guess I'll have to wait for the DVD. You guys need a letter writing campaign (as stated on the sidebar) to get Sy-Fy to take notice, meanwhile I'll bet they're working on another giant snake, komodo or shark vs atomic dolphin movie as I type this.
I guess that depends how you define "homeworldy". Haha. It very "homeworldy" if you enjoy our storyline and understand how it relates to the title of the film.
I really wanna see what you did behind the scenes, forgive me if you have posted that up already i just saw this now, ill check your other posts for it now ^^ good job, keep it up.... btw whats next?
DVD will be released in the US soon and include lots of extras, including behind-the-scenes doc. Check the website in about a month. Also, see our production company website on our profile page for a link to the next project. Cheers!
WOW! I got to see this! And I can't agree with this more: "Hollywood has spent 4000 times that and made worse movies. " I've just watched "Knowing" with Cage - oh oh, same old boring Hollywood cliché. They should learn a lot from guys like you and stop feeding tired actors and scriptwriters with millions for cheap roles and stories.
For a cheap budget like this i must say. this was a good movie, this movie keeps you thinking... i recomend you to watch it. however the trailer sucked compared to the movie.
I enjoyed it. Good acting, decent kinda cool storyline. Someone compared it to a movie version of "The Twilight Zone" and I think that summed it up nicely.
And $25k? That's it?? Now I'm even more impressed.
Burried way in the description it actually says :
For those who are fans of the video game entitled "Homeworld", I'm sorry, but our film has nothing to do with this game.
Could you just reply 'duh' to this comment so everyone else can see it. thanks...

so I'm confused is this meant to be loosly based on the game or is it just the same name as?
Yogsoggeth 7 months ago
Lol o thought it was based on the game. I loled ^^

Not Homeworld related, but I must say despite this I was quite impressed with this trailer. I shall seek this film out when I can.

Looks interesting

This looks pretty cool, it does seem to have some things that homeworld the game has, and it almost looks like a film of the game.

Am afraid that graphics alone won't persuade to watch the whole film. Was it a straight to DVD release?

I wish it were so simple.

Oh, well. Something from Sierra might have been nice...

Well, hopefully you can still enjoy our film, even though it has nothing to do with Sierra or their games.

The DVD is now available for Homeworld (the movie).

Cool. I came here thinking it was related to the game (like everyone else) But now I'm kinda interested in seeing it out of it's own merit.
Seems there's been a fair amount of confusion about it lol

dosen't feel all that "homeworldy"

You haven't been mislead. Read the description. It's clearly stated that this is not related to the video game. Chers.

Funny. There are more BIG budget movies that ruin the "movie experience".

I agree. Michael Bay has ruined every movie he got his hands on.

Pretty good movie, it did show fault in a couple of bits. But with a budget like that they've done pretty damn well.
