  • thanks man, handy nifty little vid right there. Appreciated

    @two_d_photo

  • Hi, I clicked the "Get Info" button like you had said but there is no option to open in 32 bit mode. Do you know how to fix this?

  • Easy get a Windows you can do it ALL in 64bit.

Thought mac was so good???? I also understand from Russell Brown (now using HP with windows ) that some tools in windows are just not in Mac

  • You just saved my life, mister.

  • There is a solution to this? You win the interwebs, sir :D

  • awesome, thank you :) would've been tryna throw my mac out the window at this point! ;p

  • Thanks! This tutorial was really easy to follow & very helpful!

  • what does it matter if I'm in 32 or 64?

  • @damaged2 - the quick answer is 64 bit allows for more than 4GB RAM in your computer. You may still have some 32 bit apps on your system, but 64 bit is here now (Windows 7-8, OS X Lion). Having the ability to switch between is useful for anyone who wants access to older 32 bit plugins or controls for their current app; in this case Photoshop.

  • @damaged2 can't make gifs in 64

  • Thanks! :)

  • Thank you! But when I open mine, instead of it being a grey background its all the applications on the side, then my desktop instead of grey, whats up with that??

  • Wonderful! Thank you (:

  • Hi I love you.

  • THANK YOU OMG I'VE INSTALLED/UNISTALLED IT SO MANY TIMES BECAUSE I COULDN'T MAKE GIFS ON A X64 BUT OMG YOU'RE MY LIFE SAVIOR

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! I thought I'll be downloading another version of photoshop again.

  • LEGEND! Thankyou so much.

  • THANK YOU!!! U R AMAZING!!!!

  • and i can go back to the 64 bit mode by doing the same way, right?

  • Thank you so much. You seem like such a great guy and you were very clear. I thank my lucky stars I found your tutorial. Thanks again.

  • Thank you!!

  • thank you so much <3

  • great, thanks man!

  • Thank you!!!!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • very helpful thanks!

  • what about if it doesnt give me the option to change to a 32 bit

  • @SordidClot - This is a common issue. Make sure you are selecting the Application icon, not the Folder. You won't see the option if you Get Info on the Photoshop folder. Look closely at the video, you will see I open the Photoshop Folder and inside is the Photoshop application icon.

  • @ajwood2001 ;Lifesaver, thanks dude

  • @ajwood2001 Hi - I've actually clicked on "Get Info" via the *.app file, and no option to open in 32 bit mode appears. Do you have any advice?

  • @mehcat26 - without seeing your screen it's hard to make a recommendation. Can you take a screen shot and email it to me? Contact info is on my website ajwood DOT com.

  • @ajwood2001 I found the solution but Youtube won't let me link it (the link is to the macworld.com forums). The problem was that I had no plug-ins folder specified. Will message you privately the specific post.

  • @mehcat26 - thanks. Saw your message, and will update the shows notes. I appreciate you taking the time to share the info.

  • thanks

  • thank you! :)

  • Simple, fast and working!

  • Windows has everything in 64bit :) see how good windows is

  • ...that's easy! thanks!

  • So I spent about an hour trying to figure out how to change it to 32 bit. now I feel like an idiot, but thanks for the help man!

  • i have a problem, what if my photoshop is a trial version? my info is not showing the option to switch to 32 bit :(

  • I was wondering how to do this in Windows. I know you have the directions under the description for your video, but I'm not showing a 32-bit version in my x386 folder. Any suggestions?

  • @soundofmetal why do you want 32 bit? everything is in 64bit its only mac that cant do it all lol but if u want it u add it when installing it

  • @devonmale69 I just wanted to know how to do it in case that question ever comes up again so I won't have to go and find the answer on how to do it. I tried putting in my installation CD just to see which version was installed and it said that 32 bit was already installed, but I can't find it on my hard drive so that's why I asked how to do it in my case.

  • @soundofmetal if its installed it in Programs under Adobe you will see both one has (64bit) after it one don't this is the 32bit one.

  • @devonmale69 but that's the problem, only the 64 bit is showing up under programs, not the 32 bit.

  • @soundofmetal WEll if you not see it you have not installed it BUT why do you want it on PC you have it all in 64bit and it runs faster like this any how, you see more memory in 64bit windows if you have it, only 3Mb in 32bit.

  • woo!

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU ROCK!

  • Thank you! :)

  • can i switch gta iv from 64 bit to 32 bit??? plz i need a link i bought the cd 200$ and i cant install it

  • HERO.

  • thank you!!

  • Very nice video. Needed that. I was just so steamed when I tried to use the Import Video function and got the only in 32 bit pop up. Why would Adobe do this anyway? Seems stupid to push out a 64 bit software and not upgrade all your functions to support it.

  • awesome

  • THANKS BRO

  • Thank you so much :)

  • thanks!

  • ALL HAIL AJWOOD2001

  • OMGOMGOMG! THANK YOU SO MUCH! LIFE SAVER! <3 I LOVE YOU! :D

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  • Do you know how to change itunes to 32-bite. It tells me the steps but then I just get lost. BTY I have a Mac book pro is that makes any difference.

  • @LEGOGUY291 - try copying the iTunes app from the Applications folder to your Desktop. Double-click the icon and start the app from there. Should have no errors. If it works, delete the original in the Applications folder, and drag the Desktop icon back there.

  • @ajwood2001 thanks a bunches. :)

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

    YOU'RE AWESOME!!!

  • omg. bset video ever.

  • THANK YOU!

  • This did not work for me. There was no box that I could check to switch to 32 bit mode. Only "Shared Folder" and "Locked"

  • @etanico - This is a common issue. Make sure you are selecting the Application icon, not the Folder. You won't see the option if you Get Info on the Photoshop folder. Look closely at the video, you will see I open the Photoshop Folder and inside is the Photoshop application icon.

  • @etanico Ah! They look so similar. Thanks so much!

  • THANK YOU \O/

  • You legend, thank you!

  • thank you tahnk you thank you =D

  • THANQQQQQ ur a life safer !!!!

  • Humbug! It looks like PS5 is the default editor. I tried to make it the Secondary editor, but LR wouldn't let me. I checked some forums...it was a known problem with Windows but can't find any Mac info. Exporting to the desktop, then dragging to PS5 brings up the image in the camera raw box. Clicking the "open image" box opens it in PS5 and allows the Variations. Only using it for the "Dragan effect" so no big deal. Thank you.

  • Thank you. I switched both PS5 and LR3 to 32 bit mode, but when I edit in PS5 by using the command E short cut, the image still opens in 64 and I can't use the Varitations option. If I use the Export tab and send to the desktop, then drag to PS, it does go in 32 and I can use the Variations. why can't I go straight to PS5 using Command E?

  • @charley99horse - I would goto the Preferences dialogue and remove Photoshop as an editor, then add it back. Having changed Photoshop from 64 to 32 bit after your Lightroom install, it could be it's still calling the 64 bit version due to the initial Preference setup.

  • I think I love you, thank you sooooo much!

  • Thank you A.J.!

  • Thank You!

  • damn i love u for this thank you!

  • You're a lifesaver!

  • Oh my god, thank you so much!

  • awesome! Thank you so much!

  • can you do this for photoshop cs5 extended version?????

  • @xxCynthiaa - Yes.

  • Thank you!! so easy :)))

  • Thanks so much man

  • You are my hero.

  • and for windows

  • @Pixelbox3 - CS5 on Windows installs both the 32 & 64 bit versions. You'll find Photoshop 32 bit under the x386 folder. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 You'll want to start PS in 32 bit mode first, then use File-->Open to get images. Any images you double-click to open will launch PS in 64 bit mode.

  • THANK YOU!! i've been trying to figure this out for the longest time.

  • holylord thank you!

  • Oh my god thank you so much, you're a life saver! If I had known it were that simple I would have done it ages ago myself!

  • Mine doesn't have that box D:

  • @justanotherloser2301 - be sure you are selecting the Application icon not the Folder icon. :^)

  • @ajwood2001 ah, thanks!

  • THANK YOU! :D

  • whoo thanks for this! :D

  • Damn I wish I'd have known how easy it was to fix this! *facepalm* Thanks!

  • Thank you good sir, you solved my problem =)

  • Thanks so much man!!

  • thank you!

  • Thx !

  • Thanks so much!!

  • Thanks...I thought there would be no hope for the 32 bit ^_^

  • Thank you so much!

  • Ok I don't use mac but I have the same problem, what can I do?

  • @heartiteff - CS5 on Windows installs both the 32 & 64 bit versions.

  • @ajwood2001 I can't find the x386 folder though.

  • @heartiteff - without seeing your computer, I can only make suggestions. It could be the install only loaded the 64bit version, which means you need to run a reinstall/repair. Perhaps the x386 file system is hidden on your machine, you would edit the Folder permission in Windows Explorer to fix that. Keep in mind the folder is listed as "Program Files (x86)" on your hard drive.

  • @ajwood2001 Oh wait, the x368 folder is the same as Program Files (x86) folder? If yeah then I have that lol. But when I click on the Adobe folder I can't find Adobe Photoshop CS5. Could it be because I downloaded it from a link online?

  • @heartiteff - I don't believe the online download is different from the DVD copy. However, you did find the right folder location. Again, it could be the 32 bit version wasn't loaded at the time of your install.

  • Thank you!

  • thank you!

  • thank you!

  • Thank you!

  • omfg I love you

I have been trying to figure this out for an embarrassing amount of time
