Hi, I have been looking for an organiztion to volunteer with for quite some time. What organization did you go with? would you reccomend it? I was also wondering what aspects of daily management of the kids you were able to help with? Some places limit the number of hours you can spend at the orphanage? is the one you volunteered at like this? Your help is greatly appreciated!
i've wanted to volunteer abroad for so long ... i watched your videos ages ago and they were really touching ... how much does it cost??? i cant believe noone wants these children!!! :O
I know. It is incredible that such beautiful, funny, clever, loving children aren't in good homes. They deserve much more. It's pretty expensive as you really need to travel with an organisation of some sort to sort things out for you there. It's £599 to do the project for 2 weeks, excluding airfair. That covers 2 meals a day, place to stay, and basically being cared for out there. It's worth every penny though.
Hello! Great to hear you are going to volunteer! Yes, I went to Save the Children at weekends... there is a picture of the kids at 1:42 in the video :) I will be there this summer too! Any questions don't hestiate to ask!
I'm in the orphanage grounds in that photograph :) I may be wrong but I think the district the orphanage is in is Telecentru? I love Chisinau- glad to hear from you!
how did you get involved in this? i really wanna volunteer in a moldovan orphanage this summer as well... also are there age requirements, because i'm 19...
Hello Colleenh07. I am going back this summer- it is an addiction!! :) I went through a company called Realgap (google it and search Moldova) there are 2 projects, the cheaper option of teaching or what I did, volunteering in the orphanage. It seems expensive but the way things are already organised when you get there was priceless. I absolutely think you should go for it- you won't regret it!! :) Best of luck. E-mail me anytime, I will happily answer any questions you may have.
Hi hattyhouse, i loved your video on moldova orphanage, i am going there myself in June for the first time to work as a volunteer with Realgap. Do i need to bring stuff such as toys or arts material or anything else? What do they need? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks
I'm glad you've also discovered the singular pleasure of bringing joy to a child in one of the orphanages of the former U.S.S.R.!
I lived in Armenia for a period of nearly 2 ½ years and occasionally visited the children at an orphanage in Yerevan, but not under the aegis of any organization. I miss those kids dearly.
Your kindness and compassion will always be remembered by those whose lives you have touched. The world need more like you, many more.
Hekesuede, it was wonderful to hear from you and thank you for your kind words! I hope you get the opportunity to see the kids you met in Armenia again, I know the heartache of missing them all too well- and am returning in summer! Best wishes.
I am hoping t go to this orpanage nxt sptember and this video has just made me sooo look forward to it. I am going on my own though and was wondering if there are other english volunteers there too???
Hi there! So are you travelling with Realgap? I would reccomend it as I assume this is your first time in Moldova and it can be quite daunting if you have never done it before!! :) Anyway, yes there should be some other English volunteers if you're going in September as it's a popular time to go :) I might even be there! On behalf of the kids, thank you for looking into volunteering here- they need it!! :) Hatty
