  • I HEARD THAT NICK KELLLY WAS A NEWS ANNOUNCER OF BBC IN RJ RADIO STATION IN MANILA.

  • Good song. They loved a white turtle neck those boys!

  • FANTASTIC TUNE!!!!!

  • Jeez, this brings back memories...UL from 88-93...this was one of the anthems around at the time.

  • over the moon.. i got to duet with him last night

  • I used to get the Commodore gamer magazine back in the day. Whenever The Fat Lady Sings would come on the radio I'd pipe up; "I know him.". Never met him before in my life. Funny old Rock 'n' Roll world. Wish they had stuck together a bit longer.

  • That seemed like an era when a lot of Irish bands were close but didn't quite make it and got swallowed by the industry

  • Very underrated band, seen them in manchester and edinburgh..class class class

  • i was a secret agent for The Fat Lady Sings lol (i thought it was quite cool 20 years ago), putting up posters and advertsiing on local radio stations. Please bring back your music, we miss you or should i say we miss the era, either way, they were a great band full of energy with amazing lyrics, great memories guys xx

  • Nick Kelly used to write for a Commodore 64 magazine(C64 User if I remember rightly, used to get it every month) and once he reviewed a bad baseball game, his closing comments were "As the Americans would say 'The game ain't over until the fat lady sings'"

  • went to Nick Kellys gig in Manchester - shame not more as he was still brilliant! - but he filled the room with that fabulous voice !

  • 21 years old this week; one of Ireland's greatest ever songs.

  • hate this song .. i just came on here to torment myself

  • what a voice quality velvet tones why did they not reach the top,

hopefully they might get back together and tour again, fingers crossed

  • Have it on cassette...

  • I have loved this band for 20+ years, but never knew what happened to them. REAL OLD SCHOOL: i still have TWIST in cassette which i bought from Middle Earth Records in Downey, CA (no longer exists) - i was checking out bootlegs and playing over the airwaves was ? i didn't know, but i wanted to know . . . cashier told me it was the album TWIST by a band called Fat Lady Sings . . . . I bought it IMMEDIATELLY

  • amazing song..... didn't think YT would have it... let alone the vid. Memories of Feile in Thurles! :) .... good times

  • Hey, I remember these guys! I remember being so impressed with them back in the early 90's, so I got their 1st album. I was looking around on the i'net and here they are on YT. 1st time I've ever seen a vid from them...impressive! Don't remember this song, but I like it... another great song. Kudos to TFLS!

  • What went wrong with so many Irish bands of the time? Something Happens / The Stunning / Lir etc. All came out with truly magnificant tunes and never made it outside Ireland. Bad management?

  • Not enough The Fat Lady Sings on youtube. I was looking for "But" from Johnson. I realize there's no video, but if people would share the beautiful music, it would be awesome. I only have them vinyl. I'll see if I can figure out how to get them into my computer. Best irish band ever.

  • saw them in hamburg ages ago. most of them are playing in dublin on the 31th of march

  • Fear and Favour one of my favourite songs ever. And cant locate it anywhere on the web. Anyone?

  • got it on vinyl only. no know how and equipment to digitalise it. maybe a friend of a friend can copy it on minidisc and then post it ? would that help?

  • Thanks but no need to go to such trouble. Appreciate the offer though.

  • Saw these supporting Hothouse Flowers in Sheffield many moons ago, like others have said, fantastic performance and they made the atmosphere electric. To this day, that was the best concert I ever attended bar none. This group, HHS and their staff all got up on stage and sang/danced. Such performers and deserve better.

  • Saw them in leicester univ about 1989 only once but brilliant, reminds me of good times. not quite relevant but they had a beautiful dark haired girl getting people signed up for press releases

  • i saw these guys when they supported hothouse flowers , at the nec, they blew me away , far better than hhf.

not been able to get hold of twist for ages ,

  • @stevieh69 if you want a copy pm me

  • Not quite the Arclight i was looking for...

  • This really takes me back. My sister went out with Dermot when they lived in a haunted squat in Kilburn. I still have a tape; I'll hasve to find it again. Such a shame they never quite made it.

  • Nick Kelly? Where are ya...? take a bow, Sir. Dundalk

  • Hi I was the manager of Golden Discs in Befast from 83 till the end. FLS came North and we had lunch in the Europa and then they ''busked'' outside the store which was a first I think. They should have been massive world wide. Had a pint with them at the Rod Stewart show the same year in Dublin, All the best lads if you see this. Paul Devine. Now in Dubai.

  • Takes me back Paul. Used to love getting CD's and Vinyl from you when I was younger. Pity our independent stores have gone.

  • Thank you that is very kind of you, I really miss those days, when I'm home I walk down Donegall Place and remember all the good times. Just heard Michael Jackson passed away we sold 1,000's of his albums in Belfast over the years.

    Thanks Again

    Kind Regards

    Paul

  • Amazing... pure and simple... saw these guys so many time back in the late 80's and early 90's.. they were so true to their fans with mailing info.

Thanks for the memories and thank god for You Tube. :-)

  • pure class - voice so rich and distinctive. If it was released today, no-one would be any the wiser

  • One of my fave FLS songs also i have on 12inches Drowning maud land or something.

I did catch FLS at london about 4 years ago.

I always mention to Tim that they should get back together.

I see them supporting hothouse flowers a few times. Reunion show was amazing.

Tim is currently with John Mayer band.

He writes and has his own band also.

  • Great...now anybody got a video for Man Scared, another terrific tune. I'll even

take the audio only version LOL

  • Timeless never seem to tire of this song,Gr8 memories of pre celtic tiger

  • Saw these guys in Edinburgh Scotland back in 1989. They could really play! Tim Bradshaw played 6 or 7 different instruments that night and played them all well. I'll never forget it. I've still got the homemade pink covered promo cassette tape they were selling at the show because they didn't have an album out yet.

  • Theyre one hit wonders.Amazing really given how great this song is.

  • Pure Timeless CLASSIC

  • Wow, this hits me right in the heart. It takes me back to being late teenage and all lovestruck over someone. Couldn't even remember their name now but I love this band as much as ever! Twist and John Son are still right up there as two of my all-time favourites and Nick Kelly is a poet, plain and simple.

I am as lost as you are/You are my only law

  • nick kelly is so good. running dog is such a great album, but this song, and this band, it doesnt get much better

  • i like this alot too

  • fuck this, reminds me of being a kid with no worries, my youth , Irish music, Something Happens, Power Dreams .....................

  • Can someone put up dronning maud land

  • Superb. From a great album. Have spoken to Nick through Myspace. He is such a good guy.

  • i was the roadie for the fats from their first ever gig at the international bar off grafton st in dublin,(before that the blades), i knew then that this band would go on to produce some of the best music ever to come out of ireland,i spent best part of 6 years on the road with them,we were like familly we spent so much time together, they were pure gents, they are all succesful now in their own rights,me i got my memories of the best years of my life,i just play their cd's close my eyes,HEAVEN X

  • i loved this video 'cause of it's refreshing sounds & the oceanside. Can't hardly sung the chorus line 'cause of it's tongue twistin'.-OLAN

One of the top three singles ever.

  • Great, great song. That video is fine as well. Hardly a budget job now. Played support to the FLS several times. Proper gents.

  • Nice job Hammer...Cracka!!!

  • Thank you very much, never EVER tire of this song again another brilliant band that never made it, Why U2 and not TFLS?? Why Lord Why?!!

  • best song ever

  • what a blast from the past!! awesome

  • Wow, a real blast from the past. I was a regular at FLS gigs in the 80s before moving to Japan back in the year this was released. I was always sure the band would do well, given the breaks. I don't know if a couple of albums is regarded as major success, but it's quality that counts, right! My favourite song was always The Message, which never made it onto the albums...I now only have it on a well-worn cassette (remember them?!)

  • thanks for posting this video, never saw it before.

  • Robert Hamilton is my hero!!!

  • true, production values not fantastic, but it was pre-celtic tiger, and I think it captures the era well. But it is a great song, I still listen to it all the time, after re-discovering it about two years ago.

  • great song blast from the past

  • what a naff video for such a great song. I've been listening to this song for years without seeing the video. thanks for sharing it anyway.
