@mankillsquare yea, its that heavy scaff too ... not the fancy shit they use nowerdays ... this vid is 4 or 5 years old but it gets more views than any of my others !!!?
@6reevesy9 yeah thats what i thought, i have the same looking plates at home and im sure there the 25kg plates, wich would only make that 50kg...unless he's counting the bar too
@AcrazyG thats the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard !! look at your olympic lifters ...holding the bar to the chest is one of the first things you should learn ... not touching the chest will just promote poor flexibility , next you will be saying dont squat too deep !!
it actually is called a military press, page 62 of this months musclemag...there ya go all you wanna be muscle heads..maybe you should workout more with the big dogs so you know what lifts are what..its a great workout for your shoulders..nice lift!!
Really good form, and what a hardcore looking rack. Only reason I think you were able to get out those last reps was because of the inspirational words of your son at the end.
lol at the Canadian. They get good schooling but they still can't think like an average 9 year old.
Man you really should be able to do that more times, it seems like you are pretty big, like 230lbs big. Check out my vids, I do 135lbs X 15 and I only leg drive for like 2 reps.
Don't listen to these negative comments, its too easy for these tools to spout sh1t when they don't have to back it up "I'm 17 and can do 90 kg for 18 reps blah blah"
cheers phil, the rack cost about 95 quid in scaffold and couplings - and a couple of angle grinder discs, its much stronger than a cheap powercage though
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
20 year old big ass dude can only do 128lbs for 10 reps? lol well at least u had the balls to post this i weigh 165lbs-17 yr old 155lbs for 6 reps.. 135 is my warm up u joke
For some strange reason, I do not believe you. All we all need to do is look at your profile. Simple Task really, then we find out the liars :). Have a nice day!
lol luckily i can care less if you believe me, but once i get a better phone i'll be taking video of some of my presses mainly to see if theres anywhere i can improve on in my form
Just to add, a 58kg press for 10 reps in strict form would give the jonnywildboar a one rep max of about 170lb, which according to Rippetoe and Kilgore is an advanced level of strength for a 198lb lifter (judging from the video jonny you weigh about this much?)
atm i can do 185lbs for 4 reps seated military press.. i weigh 170 lbs.. i now have a new video phone so i will surely get some videos up in the upcoming weeks for all of you doubters :)
I assume that's a free barbell and not a Smith Machine? Get the video up.
WHO are Rippetoe and Kilgore you mean. Rippetoe owns Wichita Falls Athletic Club, Dr KIlgore is a physiologist who works with Rippetoe and co-wrote Starting Strength with him.
@ Adam: standard for his age and weight?! Jeez... Most grown men have trouble pressing that weight ONCE while STANDING. It's easy to sound strong in text, why don't you post a vid of your birth certificate, followed by you pressing 165 and then half your friends follow suit? Sounds like a good idea, right?
@poster: Your form is flawless. Many forget to bend slightly forward when doing freeweight military press. And the weight is rather impressive.
I military press 40 kg dumbbells each arm for around 4 reps a set). I managed to press 45 kg dumbbells each arm yesterday for 4 reps a set. I then do stand up pressing on a 50 kg barbell for 8 reps for usually 4 sets. I do side-to-lateral flies with max 15 kg dumbbells (slowly on 12 1/2's then on 15's a bit quicker). I am looking to be able to develop immensely strong shoulders. I am 20 and I guarantee my shoulders will be something different in 10 years.
thanks, im amazed this vid gets so many views - i train elsewhere and i can standup for military press (my shed was too low) Im still a bit of a fatty but looking to slim down a little !!
Pretty pitiful i would like to say, as a fifteen-year old who can do 165. Half of my friends can do better. He doesntt even meet average standards for his age or weight.
well when it comes to competition yeah you don't really stand a chance, but weight has to all do with your own personal goals and determination, so whatever gets the ladies to bed hey works :D
wear a belt for support or you will break your back one day. wearing a belt and having something support your back will also give you some extra reps!
You little nigga couldnt take the bar of the rack you piece of shit. Its good to see you benching 60kg for 1 or 2 reps bouncing it off ur chest or tensing them things in your arms that u call your biceps, but rly mate everyone is born with bigger HA
"how long daddy", that'd put me off lol

You should try behind the neck presses. Less strain on your back.

is it easier to sit or stand?
ZionistCensorship 2 years ago
It is easier to cheat when standing, generally I have noticed its harder sitting, and I can't do as much weight sitting either.
shadowscion 2 years ago
when u sit u dont use ur legs at all to help so its all shoulders...the real way to do it.

There's no such thing as a seated military press, that was a seated overhead press.
Uxoriouswidow 3 years ago
I have invented it then !!
its mine !!
all mine !!
no, you may be right, i just guessed - my shed roof was too low to do standing OH stuff.

quagmire1807 3 years ago
You should be benching about 325, squatting 460, deadlifting 530 and cleaning 300 if you're as strong as you say you are. Those values for a 1RM.
