ive got a yammaha accoustic worth £25 a 12 string i bought for £50 a squire and 2nd hand epiphone les paul and and a £10 amp......i bought my 1st guitar on my 34th birthday and im 36 in sept...i can play. but i dont feel worthy of a 'proper' guitar....does that make sense??

@boomboxbadboy1 I know exactly what you mean mate, I was the same. AndIfor me personally I dont think I was experienced enough in those 1st few years to appreciate the difference. Also, I'm self taught, so a wrecked a good few fret boards before I got my technique together.

That said, you dont have to pay a fortune for a decent guitar. I bought a Mexican Fender Strat' off my mate for £120, and it's honestly 1 of the nicest I've ever played.

@boomboxbadboy1 I'd say you've got a pretty decent guitar collection there. And I do believe that only intermediate guitar players should spend their money on a gibson, but at the end of the day if i could either buy a gibson or an epiphone i would go for the epi. then you have money to spend on pedals, amps etc which can get you better sounds. But 'proper' guitars should only be bought depending on your level of playing.

@quemming Believe me mate. If I had the cash I would buy a 'proper' guitar. But it kind of annoys me when really bad guitarists have really expensive guitars. I just feel like they have too much money for their own good and they're sort of wasting it. You should always start out small and work your way up.

he did, but he only ever used his epi riviera live. Johnny Roadhouse in manchester were selling a light up rickenbacker 331 on his behalf for about 10 grand. Only a handful were ever made
