  • i try to live every day and i m always let down

  • any1 know the song by them that the lyrics go i search rooom by room but im allllll alone or something like that

  • @bobmarleybichez its Audioslave- Like A stone

  • I still remember when I first heard this song 15 years ago. I was a teenager, sitting in my parents car listening to the radio on my walkman when this came on. Awesome song.

  • Nevrosis grunge rock....oh boy are his shrill screams ``great``.

  • What happen to music now day you have a mental singer name Lady gaga with her saying rah rah ah-ah-ah-ah! to mah ro-mah-mah

  • They're about the singer trying to take the moral high ground and failing, discovering that his idealism turns him into a hypocrite (like everyone else) as soon as he tries to act in the real world. Instead of helping, he steals from beggars and gives to the rich, and when he tries to use the idealistic words that he's been thinking, they come out wrong. He realizes that he's just another "pig" like everyone else and tells himself he shouldn't have bothered to begin with.

  • what a fucking brilliant song

  • @meeloy

    yeahhhhh

  • dis is my fav sng off da superunknown album >< SOUNDGARDEN OWNS

  • one my faves of Sound Garden awesome song...

  • This song is fucking epic! Not the most difficult to drum out, or play on bass or guitar, but the whole structure is just perfect and I am in love with Chris's amazing vocals. Soundgarden is and will always be the best grunge band, hands down.

  • i almost bought an $800 bass guitar bc of this song, then congratulations i would have had a badass bass guitar i have no idea what to do with or how to play......

  • God I love this song!!!!!!

  • i died the day i tried to live

  • Such Good Music cant wait to see them at lolapoluza

  • ...the day i tried to live... everybody sneak away from me..

  • The lives we make, never seem to get us anywhere but dead...

  • @Nic003256 You know all these years I always thought he was saying "we're sinning when we're damned".

  • This reminds me of my girlfriend of 3 telling me she wanted to be with another guy she was friend with. Then I stopped talking to her, and got a new girlfriend who was FUCKING GORGEOUS within a day. When my old gf did start talking...She then told me she was "just kidding" and she wanted to know what I thought if she said something like that. I didn't break up with her before I got involved with the new girl. That day, somehow I found this music video, and it fit the situation so perfectly.

  • @burnzorz The old one sounds like a crazy bitch that you're better off not being with

  • @violetoctohedron It sounds like when u listen 2 it with only the left earphone in.

  • The day I tried to live, I listen to Soundgarden music and now I feel alive.

  • I hate how this cd is mastered, no bass, too much compression yuck! good songs though

  • dunno if its my headphones or not but it doesnt sound right

  • like any other smash hit ths songs about heroin..pull the trigger drop the blade is shooting up and watch the rolling heads is in reference to ppl nodding out ..

  • that quote you talk about toredown7 is a metophor for suicide

  • it's just more fun to be an anti social dick head in life

  • I have never heard a vocal performance that even scrapes the surface of this song. Chris Cornell vocals and belting technique are superhuman! In my opinion, nobody could even touch this guy in his prime.

  • The best song..

  • 1. Superunknown

  • @th3k0nk3r

can some one tell me what "pull the trigger drop the blade" is in reference too???

    I will give you a hint... it's not a gun? it's a metaphor

  • @toredown7 I have no idea please tell me

  • @toredown7 it's referring to a guillotine

  • ''seize the day, pull the trigger, drop the blade and watch the rolling heads....''

  • whoooo lollapalooza here i come I'm gonna be front row center!!!!!!!!!

  • aswome cool i was born in 1992 just to let you guys now ok i now kurt cobain of nirvana on my my space ha !!

  • classic ! when grunge was at it's best

  • @sapper629

Yeap! and what happen then... nobody knows, but the flood of sh*t music starts in 1995...some good ones still resist today.

  • @rodsling

Hey, at least Foo Fighters came out of 1995.

  • I got cut off, i suggest that you make a playlist with Nirvana, SG, PJ and Chains and just mix a bunch of songs from each band into this playlist and listen to it in a random order for an hour or 2. I bet you'll notice how very similar these bands really are. They all have their individual qualities but the same sound and soul to them.

Forever live, love and relish 90's rock!

  • I think if you don't hear the similarities in Nirvana, Soundgarden and PJ then you're just not listening. Of course they all have their own unique sound, if they didn't then they'd be irrelevant. But, they all have the same sound to me just with their own touch. And next time you name say the "Big 3 Bands from out there" (assuming you mean Seattle) please make it the "Big 4" and include AIC, without them you're comment loses much credit to me and i'm sure many others out there reading this

  • Did Saound Garden ever do a song called I'll Be Your Secret or something along those lines????

  • The nineties were the best... I miss it so much I can feel in my chest

  • Try to play this on acoustic guitar....Haha! ( you guitar players know what I mean) Great song though!

  • This CD is Awesome.

  • soundgarden 4ever

  • this song brings me memories of the best time of my life the 90's oh yeah

  • Just noticed how AIC - ish this video is ?!?

But they were not at all the same,no matter what ...

  • Loved this song. Cheers for uploading.

  • another great talent to come out of seattle...rip layne and kurt..

  • @gonzo6910 Not to mention Jimi.

  • the best singer ever!!

  • Cornell at his best!....Guitar is pretty good on this track!!!

  • fuck yes good shit!!!

  • 3:30 I woke the same, as any other day except I SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!

  • @thejonhendricks EEEEPPPPPIIIIICCCCC!!!!

  • @thejonhendricks I woke the same as any other day, you know I should have stayed in bed. . . . . The day I tried to win I wallowed in the blood and mud with all the other pigs. And I learned that I was a liar.

The man dressed in white linen. Trying to live in the anti-verse.

  • This song is great....it relates with my anti-social self :P

  • Anti-social is a term that describes a highly violent and destructive person. Are you sure you're not just trying to say you're a loner?

  • it may also mean, "Shunning the society of others; not sociable".... so i guess i'm an anti-social loner....

  • See the DSM IV.

  • dont need to... typed it in on google

  • Umm, you can't exactly trust everything you read on the internet.

  • @RaptorJesus720 anti-social can also mean wer u dont like socialising with other people or you dont see the point of it, but yesw it also means that

  • Check the DSM IV.

  • meh 2

  • so 90's

  • Mi video favorito de Soundgarden y por supuesto un temazo!!!

  • Honestly its hard to even make a top grunge band lists. Considering that all their music was awesome and very different, none of the bands knew why they were all classified as grunge themselves. Grunge in its truest definition means the rockbands forming in Seattle at that time. Soundgarden were the original pioneers. RIP to all the great singers that passed on.

  • Grunge is a music genra, and has its own sound, if you did'nt knew that, do not discuss it...

  • Have you ever seen Cornell's or other "Grunge" bands interviewed on the subject on being classified as Grunge. Grunge is a genre because we made it that way but it incorporates alot of different sounds from bands that didn't think they should have been put into the same lable. Don't be so hot tempered and quick to One up a total stranger.

  • No, but I can clearly hear the likeness in their sound, even tho some bands has been classified as Grunge but are not!

Link some of the interwiews, please!

  • I see why you say they are not grunge. However I think that grunge was kind of a BS term...so it's like, what was grunge? some grunge (pearl jam) sounded almost classic rock and some was punk (mudhoney) and soundgarden was kind of metal, black sabbath inspired.

  • @TheWorthyApes

"They" are not grunge? What bands are we talkin' 'bout?

And just like The Ramones and Six Pistols sounds different, so does many grunge bands!

  • Grunge to me is just a term used to describe some of the best rock bands to come out of Seattle in the 80's and 90's. People can call it what they want. To me it's just good music!!

  • @soopercoobear Agreed. The 3 big bands out of there (Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden) have nothing in common musically except loud guitar, angst/anger and passion. All great bands, but all different sounds and all great bands in their own respect. My personal preference puts Soundgarden at the top of that scene.

  • Other than all three are labeled as grunge and come out of Washington , yeah nothing else is the same. haha

  • Didn't Mudhoney coin the term in the 80s before "grunge" became mainstream? And wasn't it based on an underground movement in Australia?

  • How many other songs alternate between 7/8 and 4/4 in the verses? I'm guessing not many!

  • This wasn't a single, was it?

  • It's funny, up until a couple years ago I thought STP was a Seattle band. I have no clue how I grew up as a teen in the 90's not knowing they were from LA. It still baffles me that I could be so naive, and when I found out about it about 2 or 3 years ago it blew my mind. lol

Anyways, great, great song. This is by far my favorite song Soundgarden made and one of my all time favorites from the 90's.

  • Great Song! It still gives me chills after 15 plus years!

  • are you an idiot? STP is not Seattle grunge and should not be put into the same category as the other 4 bands you mentioned...

  • if you dont like my list, make your own. But im not an idiot for writing MY list y the way I want

  • @DUKEMAGO812 yes you are.. because we are talking about the best grunge bands and you included a band that isn't grunge on the list

  • yours sooo right. california grunge could never match true seattle sound =]

  • yeah seattle grew cause they were issolated from everything else while cali was pretty much in the middle of everything that was big at the time

  • @omfgRyan Nah, the best California did was compliment it nicely with the funk of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Blood Sugar Sex Magic was a great CD to throw into the mix with Nevermind, Ten, & Dirt... to be fair Core, & Siamese Dream were great CDs that fit the sound well too, regardless of where the bands are from.

  • Whoa....I've never seen this video before...and I am tellin' you this is a special band back then!!!...is it really that long ago!

  • Superunknown = Top 5 albums of the 90s.

  • epic song! love the whole album!!

  • Definitely! Only one bad song, "Half" (sorry Ben). The rest are awesome

  • Half was awesome.

  • Fuck. I've dug this song for years. And now I've the music video for it for the first time.

    An outstanding vid.

    Thanks mickeylithium!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's funny how differently everyone can interpret a song.

To me, it's obvious what this song is about - if you ever had a chance to re-live your life - you would live it just the same as you did before. Nobody gets a second chance, but if you did, your life wouldn't be any different.

  • It would be completely diffrent, You would keep in mind the mistakes that you made the first time around and you wouldnt make them again, But in doing so you'd make new mistakes, diffrent ones which would give you diffrent opoinions, views and morales, Its the mistakes you made that make you who you are and I dont know why anyone would want to go back, You could possibly become similar to someone you hate

  • I almost forgot: the part when Cornell says "One more time around" can be either 4/4 or 2/4.

  • Just count, but it depends on the tempo. It could be quarter=130-140, then I should write 4/4 - 3/4 - 4/4 - 4/4 (or 7/4 - 4/4 - 4/4). If it was quarter=65-70, then I should write it the same as Wikipedia.

How fast do you do headbanging while you listen to this song? That could be the tempo. Or not.

    Who wants to know?

Is anyone going to write a transcription?

  • i might be wrong, could it be 7/8 then 3/4?

  • It's 7/8 then 4/4, according to wikipedia

I wish I could tell a song's time signature but have no really clue :\

  • i sometimes feel like pulling triggers and watching some heads roll lmao

  • ...it said seize the day, pull the trigger, drop the blade, and watch the rolling heads...best SG song hands down

  • I agree wholeheartedly. No contest

  • Soundgarden underated.

  • i agree

  • Each time I listen to this song's intro I stop everything I'm doing, just to listen to it quietly. One of my favorite soundgarden songs.

  • When I first heard this song, it was okay, next time I heard it, it was simply amazing.

  • Bass line + Guys' voice = winz

  • great song...cool vid...makes me happy to be alive

  • my fav soundgarden song

    and like suicide

  • the tuning for this song is E-E-B-B-B-E

  • Thats really odd? and It's in 7/4. Just shows you how great and inovative the band is.

  • you can't count to seven the whole song. there's just one measure of 3/4 in the main riff, otherwise it's 4/4, right?

  • it's 7/8 and 4/4 alternating for the verse and chorus

  • it's so mystical and beautiful, but simple at the same time. That's Y this song is my Favorite from them

  • RIFF MAGIC

  • A truly great band. His voice is as good as Led Zep's R Plant. Lyrics might be even better-engages brain heart and MIND.

Most new music-Focus grouped market tested DRM protected appeal to the maximum first step-appeals to few greatly. No honesty. Least of the problems is the DRM.

New music message--follow the herd buy buy buy be like me! Tools.

  • That's not a new message dude, the 90's were no different. That's why alternative died just a few years after it gained popularity, it went against the flow, and told people to think for themselves.

  • superunknown the best album

  • I love this song but why would he 'steal a thousand beggars change and give it to the rich'?

I would do the exact opposite.

  • I think the song is about how he tries to live like the everyone else. So he steals from the poor and gives it to the rich. Basically lying and shitting on people just like so many dick wads do these days.

  • but in this world that's how it is.

  • thats why its in the song.

  • good luck on the 20 hours, cause i'd rather die.

  • i miss the old chris cornell...the light your guitar on fire and light a cig with your lit guitar chris cornell...

  • this song is sooooooo good in soooo many ways!!
