Soviet anthem is the current national anthem in Russia just with different lyrics. I think the lyrics make no difference. Russia will be an aggressive empire just like USA once it gets on it's feet. Just hope that Finland is still around. The reactors of most Russian subs are very un-reliable and dangerous if not given proper maintenance. Great anthem though. Aircraft and firearms are what the Russians are good at.

Russia has had a hard history. As a former US Naval Officer I'm glad that we never fought them at sea. I believe that we would have prevailed, but the cost to both sides would have been high. Nevertheless, I admire them, and wish them well in this new, post Cold War world. We should be allies, not enemies.

Say what you will about the Soviet Union, this song is one of the most powerful ever composed. And I don't just limit that to national anthems. Russian Choral music goes somewhere beyond beautiful, and simply stirs the soul in a way that no other music seems capable of. I love my own (U.S.) national anthem, all four verses, but this anthem is simply beautiful, powerful, and moving.

Due to 4 hours in freezing water after his escort ship was sunk by the Luftwaffe en-route to Murmansk in 1942, my Dad died young, when I was five. Malaria was the last blow. We were left alone, poor, in the African bush. Life was a great struggle for us. But my Dad was proud of his war service. Pictures on my video.

Russia has had a hard history. As a former US Naval Officer I'm glad that we never fought them at sea. I believe that we would have prevailed, but the cost to both sides would have been high. Nevertheless, I admire them, and wish them well in this new, post Cold War world. We should be allies, not enemies.

Our Battalion had a first task to stop Division of army of Iran on our border on two or three days - secondary task at us was not, who remains, go to the basic forces.
