It sounds like she was pregnant before being diagnosed with the cancer.

Every family has something going on in the family whether it is diabetes, high blood pressure, breast cancer, eczema or whatever. Just because 1 parent has it doesn't mean all the children will get it. And even if a kid does inherit a condition doesn't mean they can't live a long full life. A lot of conditions and diseases can be controlled.
