  • I just watched the documentary on television and tried to find the song on youtube. This song is really awesome.

  • and the music theme is here on Tube, search for The Daniel Pemberton TV Orchestra

    Enjoy it! A true masterpiece!

  • I saw it a few weeks ago on NatGeo-HD in Hungary...I can tell ya my friends, looked awesome, worth every pixel...got recorded it on the mediabox and just played for the music :) South African (Oranje?) accent also gives a little spice to it :) Unbearable.... :D :D

  • lol

  • the song rocksssssssssssss hooooooooooo where t download

  • Happy to have seen the Monster Move show. The music was so wonderful. I approached my very young hip family to exspose them to it expecting rejection. My mom, dad, sister, nephew, nieces, most of Burlington Ontario Canada loves the show and song. It just struck me that I suggested this to others expecting them to dislike.

  • liked

  • I thought this shit was serious at first. Fucking hilarious .Even more so if they ARE serious. Love it.

  • @TheKookabear What do you mean with serious (or not)?

  • @bartjedj He probably means that he is unable to understand why people would get emotional because of "a hunk of metal", so he thinks they are making fun of it.

  • @IndianaJones772 Fire it on veg oil problem solved.

  • @IndianaJones772 Actually, it wouldn't violate any emissions laws, whatever you usually see coming out of the stack is 80% water vapor, 20% coal smoke. So in a way, steam locos are cleaner than diesels.

  • when i first hear it i nearly cried

  • This TV series, Monster Moves, usually has excellent original music for every episode. Does anyone know if there's a compilation CD?

  • @EvilToeJam MONSTER MOVES: SONGS & SOUNDS

  • they need to make trains like this again, plus they can be powered by wood a renewable resource, plus it looks sexy.

  • at 5:07, that just speaks power, and I'm sure that beauty had lots of it, and she looks aggressive at that angle...

  • Hallo, good!

    What's title of song?

  • Brilliant! A song about a steam locomotive, done in a spaghetti western-ish manner, and sung by a choir. Who would have thought that it all would come together so awesomely? The composer earned his paycheck on this one.

  • Bloemfontein is my hometown!

  • Saw the full version of this fabulous documentary on Discovery Chanel last year... wow!

  • My word! Here I sit in England, listening to this! This goods train is one of many that used to go past my house at 10pm when I was a little boy. I used to dream of the magical places it went to. How awesome!

  • So they're 'anoraks' for doing something they enjoy? Why not find something that interests you and leave others be?

  • You move one of these trains, make a documantry about it and make a better song to it. Then you can comment, otherwise, shut up and (as you don't like it) don't watch the movie! Grow up little boy.

  • Saw this on NG too, great journey for such a massive thing!

  • love the music

  • really nice music!

  • Is it possible to get the whole programme which was an hour long?

  • This song is by The Crouch End Festival Chorus. Brilliant.

  • The music s very nice

  • was talking to my grampa about this train, he used to work at the clyde docks in glasgow where they were loaded onto the ships. the engine will be the centre point in glasgows new transport museum due to open on the clydeside in the spring of 2011.

  • Great song! Great documentary!

  • The composer of the music is Daniel Pemberton. He wrote it specially for every show. More information on his website, where I hope he will place this (and others) song to download!

    It sounds great!

  • looks liek they made this song for this doc

  • sweet chorus, would be nice to know indeed

  • Great show, fantastic song, by the way what`s the song's name and who sings?

    Greetings from Chile

  • You can see the full show on National Geographic Channel on August 10 at 8PM.

  • what did the narrator mean by "the locomotive will spend it's final days"?

  • last days of service

  • is it going back then?

  • The loco was manufactured in Scotland, shipped in sections to South Africa, where it spent decades hauling heavy goods and passenger trains, finally ending up in the breaker's yard at Bloemfontein, waiting -- along with many dozens of other steam locos -- to be turned into scrap metal. They do a loco every 2 or 3 weeks, IIRC from what they said in the documentary.

  • Anyway, purchased for the Glasgow Railway Museum, pushed (with a diesel loc) to the port, loaded on a ship that ended up going to Hamburg instead of the english port they'd contracted for (a bit of a wtf), transshipped to a north sea tramp freighter, unloaded in england, and then transported by road to the museum in Scotland. It's back in the very place it was manufactured originally, where it will spend its retirement peacefully dreaming in the museum trainsheds.

  • great love the graphics

  • cool
