  • reading LOTR is my new-year's resolution :))) Then maybe I'll start the game of thrones?

  • Hey there, just stumbled into your vlog/book review channel, it's a very new concept to me, i've never seen anybody did a book review on youtube before, how odd, guess I've always turned to a more traditional written reviews. Anyway, I'm liking your videos, cause u're talking abt books, plus the things on your video like those book details on the side is kinda cool, so I'm subscribing you weeee...=D

  • Game of thrones was one of the best for me last year too :)

  • I really hope you'll read more new releases this year! It's exciting for viewers to get reviews of newly released books, so we'll know if we should get them or not.

And of course I'm hoping you'll review them on your channel too :) Or you could just write a review on goodreads.

I would love to see a review of "cinder", "incarnate", or "article 5", which are all January 2012 releases.

  • havnt checked your vids in awhile and its cool to see you got all fancy with all the pop up points and doodle outro. nice :)

  • I read Looking for Alaska in Dec. and I hated it =/, I don't understand why so many people liked it, too much drinking, and smoking 2 things I hate where so much part of the book i almost didn't finish the book =/, i did not see why the Pudge loved Alaska, all the charters i found annoying =/

  • Could you review the book Divergent by Veronica Roth? It's a dystopian based book, and the first one in a yet to come series. I'd really appreciate your thoughts on it.

  • Hey! lol reading 50 books this is one of my resolutions too! Im 4 down so far, you need to read 5 books two months and 4 the rest

    greatings from ecuador!

  • I'm reading hunger games & I love it so far (:

  • THE KNIFE OF NEVER LETTING GO AHHH OMG <3

  • I just read John Green's Looking For Alaska. I love this book. I'm going to a boarding school so I could kinda relate.

  • You need to read 'Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close' ! It's my first book of 2012 that I have finished, and I'm so glad it was. It was beautifully written.

  • your list had great books (personally, I didn't like The Red Pyramid. I found it childish and boring compared to Percy Jackson). I've read most of them and those that I haven't are on my to-read list. Fahrenheit 451 is a great book. I had to read it for school and I was one of the only people who actually liked it.

  • you should read the book "Blindness" by José Saramago, you would really enjoy it!

  • Your videos are so my style! I very rarely find a YouTuber who has the same book taste as me! I love your videos! I have never read John Green, do you have any recommendations as a first read?

  • I got The Fault in Our Stars and it's amazing so far! A must read! :)

  • After reading the Harry Potter series I listened to the audio, so good! It really helped to absorb the story better and Jim Dale narrates and he is amazing.

  • Freaking Loved this video. Your videos are just fantastic. I liked the standout points. I am reading Harry Potter in 2012 !!! I just finished the first book.

  • I think you need to read Graceling and Fire by Kristen Cashore. You've said you really like companion books, and Fire is the prequel/companion to Graceling. I love both of these so much. People say Fire contains a Mary Sue character, but I disagree and I actually liked it more than Graceling. I just think you might enjoy the books a lot. :) Great vid btw!

  • So happy Game of Thrones made it to number one! I read the whole SOIAF series this year and can't wait for the next book!

  • Another fantastic video, Priscilla! Great list for 2011 and I love your resolutions list too! :)

  • Haha, great resolutions! I should join you on less procrsatination, I love to procrastinate! And I don't even understand Twitter, it has the same feeling to me as standing in the middle of the room and everybody talking at the same time. I just want to drop to the floor and crawl out into the hall...Yeah, that's how socially well adjusted I am ;)

  • Great picks! Will have to check out game of thrones. And omg I, too, tend to experience things long after everyone else has. My recent obsession with to 80's and early 90's movies being an example of this. Yes, I hadn't seen most of them until now.

  • Have you read 'Dark Secrets 1: Legacy of Lies and Don't Tell' by Elizabeth Chandler? it's a good mystery book :)

  • Fantastic video as usual! I haven't read the Lord of Rings series either --" I must get that done LOL

  • White cat - Holly black

    Lockdown - Alexander Gordon smith

  • Oh my gosh... I've had Fahrenheit 451 for years now, but lost motivation to read it once I got home with it in my hand... but since you've mentioned it. I want to read it now, yay!

  • @wonderstruck10xo An Abundance of Katherines is a fun read as well! :) Thanks for the recommendation; I've heard many great reviews on Legend.

  • Have you read the rest of the books in A Song of Ice and Fire? If not, I highly recommend it. Possibly the greatest fantasy series I've ever read.

  • i read looking for alaska, at first i was like.. i don't get it, it's a good book, but everyone has talked about it so much and given it such good reviews i expected it to be better. but as i kept reading it just kept getting better and better.

it actually really moved me, and ah. just so wonderful.

  • Does your camera do video for a set mount of time? For example, I have the Nikon d90 camera and it only films 5min videos. So I have to film many in a row and edit them all together. Just wondering if your camera has the same feature.

  • @prettybarn YES. D: Mine seems to record for 12 min before stopping automatically.

  • whats your goodreads username?

  • @tarahish There's a link on my channel page. :)

  • @ebonypullen1 I really enjoy An Abundance of Katherines. I consider it a nice summer read.

  • Unrelated question. A question that most people probably don't ask -- How do you read? Do you have a specific spot? Comfy chair? Bean Bag? Bed? Desk?

With all the reading you do, I'm pretty sure you need to be in a specific position lol. Let me know Book Guru!!

  • @illricky Most of the time I read sitting on my bed. I do change sitting positions (or even lay on my back). If I ever get too comfortable, I start to fall asleep :P Not good! lol

  • LOTR movies are amazing. The books are too, but they might be a bit difficult to get through. I read them when I was about fourteen and once you get into them they're a great read, but they took me quite some time to read. I suggest reading something else after each one. Also, I skipped over some of the really long songs and stuff. But it was good :D Also, I love your glasses.

  • Dude, good luck with Lord of the Rings. That book is pretty hard to get through, I'm not gonna lie. But the movies are ABSOLUTELY EPIC. Favourite ever. And whhhuuut~ Beatboxing?! That is so cool (and random). Maybe you can do a Beatbox Intro!! That would be kickass. My resolution is to start & finish more YA series. 'Cos I usually read more adult types. I realized I'm missing out on alot. LOL! =)

  • My resolution is to be less lazy

  • Great video, Priscilla! Great top 11 as well. :D

  • The Lord Of The Rings movies are amazing :) u will fall in LOVE with a lot of the characters.

  • My 2012 resolution is to make a youtube chanel which i've done the intro to already. It be great if you subscribed :D I'm doing my chanel on a mix of things: music, books, films, tv shows, etc. So, it won't be all on books; sorry :(

  • @themopmd I WILL! XD I If they ever did make the movie adaptation, It would be really interesting to see how they'd execute it. Especially the noise, and such.

  • You're just so pretty.

  • try to read all the sequels to GOT books 2-5

  • A SONG OF IcE AND FIRE

  • I actually read 2 JG books, Looking for Alaska and WGWG. I found TFIOS SIGNED at Sam's! John read the first two chapters (<3) to me :3 It's fantastic.

  • I do hope you get on well with The Lord of the Rings. I enjoyed the films, but I thought the books were better. Still, good luck! :)

  • Yay for procrastinating!

  • Great resolutions, especially A Clash Of Kings! Love that series.

If you're looking to broaden your genre horizons, BookMonkey is doing a great 2012 book challenge called 'Around The Stacks In How Many Ways'. It's on blogspot if you fancy having a quick peek. (Can't get the link to work here :s)

  • i ordered 'the fault in our stars' on thursday and i can't wait till it arrives (10 days at least, i live in indonesia)! i reaaaally hope that the book is worth it :) heard alot of positive things about the author.

  • I just finished the hobbit this month. The movie is coming out on my birthday and i have the entire series so it was time. I read fahrenheit 451 it was awesome. My goal is to not do numbered challenges because it put pressure on me and i found myself reading books that were okay but were short. Another goal is to read bigger and definately better books. I like your new videos they are totally awesome.

  • I love J. R. R. Toliken's works, and am planning on rereading The Hobbit this year. :)

  • OMG My relosutions are almost the same. 50 books and LotR :P Finished Hobit now started reading LotR series :)

Hope to complete them soon. I absolutely love the movies and love the books too. My 2012 resolution is to read Game of Thrones. Have heard its awesome. For John Green week I picked 'Paper Towns' and it was amazing. Will read 'Looking for Alaska' next.

  • The beatbox resolution, what a wildcard, by the way.

  • Guess who's also got reading AND watching the Lord of the Rings on their resolutions for 2012 too? ME! You're not alone on that, Priscilla! (And Monsters of Men, I have to read that too. And Eon, and the Monstrumologist!)

  • @rvb23 Nice! Hopefully we both enjoy it! :D

Hope you will be able to make your resolutions come true.

  • Have you read Miss.Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs? It was amazing definatly read it! :)

  • @thereadables

You are brilliant! A astoundingly good novel I would recommend to you is. "The Knight's Circus by Erin Morgenstern". This book blends all grammatical person types: first, second and third grammatical person. This book does second person narrative very well; which is rare in fiction. It will engross you very quickly. Also, here is a bonus; one of my favorite websites for Photography. 500px.com. Enjoy!!:)

  • @gamersenpai The Night Circus looks amazing. I've got it sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read.

  • @PureDragon100

Awesome! definitely read it as soon as possible.

  • I was watching this and thinking to myself, "Huh I wonder if she's read Game of Thrones?" Because I am currently reading this series and am OBSESSED with everything about it. SURPRISE it was in your top picks!!! So happy to hear your commentary on it.

  • Awesome video!

For John Green week I read, of course, The Fault in Our Stars plus Paper towns and Looking for Alaska. Amazing books.

Gold star for reading Harry Potter! =D

    -motivation- You Can Do Ittttt!!!

P.S. Atlas is spelled wrong in your side information bar thing-a-ma-jig (for lack of a better word) =D

  • @dorkyarg Nice John Green reads! Can't wait to read The Fault in Our Stars! :)

XD Darn! lol Thanks for the heads up!

  • if you're going to read lord of the rings you should try and squeeze in the hobbit while you're at it. It's not too long and it's fabulous! plus obviously the first part of the film comes out in December! yay!

  • @WordsofaReader First part? I thought there was just the one..

  • @classifiednerd I'm pretty sure they're splitting the films into two parts. Part one comes out this boxing day and part two comes out in 2013 ;)

  • @WordsofaReader Yes, I'll definitely read The Hobbit by the time the film comes out in December! (that's the plan anyways...)

  • @awalktoremember YES! They are very worth your time. I have not read abundance of Kathriens but I have read Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns. Paper Towns is amazing!

  • Omg I always discover things 10 years after everyone too! Like I just discovered the tv show Supernatural and it's on it's 7th season. I'm glad I'm not the only one in this time warp!

  • If you like Game of Thrones you should definitely should check out Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. And don't feel bad for not reading Lord of the Rings... I haven't read them or the last three Harry Potter books.

  • @WeWereTheStorm The Way of Kings <3

  • @WeWereTheStorm Thanks for the recommendation!

  • These are some really good book choices! I need to catch up and read the novels that you've mentioned that I haven't read already. I'm loving the new editing in your videos! I didn't know that it was possible for your videos to get any better than they were before, and you proved me wrong! :) haha. I thoroughly enjoyed this video.

  • A Game of Thrones was my favourite from 2011 as well! :D I plan to read A Clash of Kings this year, too!

Btw, your videos are awesome, and I don't think they could get any better. Do you alter the lighting when you edit your videos? They all seem to have a purplish tint :P Oh, and you'll LOVE The Lord of the Rings.

  • @PureDragon100 Awesome! :D

I do alter the colourization of the video during my editing, yes.

  • @thereadables So do I. Sometimes I overdo it, though :P It's nice to finally talk to you on Youtube!!

  • i have looking for alaska, paper towns and abundance of katherines i never read his books so i have to ask are they incredible? i have a resolution to read 200 books this year so i wanna know if he is worth the read

  • @awalktorememeber I think they are! :) They're great contemporary fiction, and his books are some of my favourite reads.
