  • was hoping you might come up with something more interesting. After three months you still couldn't. If you don't mind, I'll fight the bad guys intent on killing us, and you can fight Wal-Mart.

  • And many of those people who died this past week are in heaven right now. And they wouldn't want to come back. It's so glorious and so wonderful. - Billy Graham, September 14, 2001

  • Yeah, facts are boring... flag-waving rhetoric is so much more exciting!

  • murphicus, I see you are well-versed in logical fallacies.

I don't doubt your use of red herrings, ad hominem, and so on is the result of your not having an actual point.

    Cheers!

  • The whole system should be privatized.

But until then, the law should be repealed that grants a monopoly to the WSF. Companies who want to compete should not be prevented. It is crazy to make competing with the WSF illegal. Monopolies are supposed to be BAD things, right?

  • They tried a private run from Kingston to Seattle a few years back... they had to stop because they couldn't get the leases they needed to expand. Imagine that, WSF doesn't want competition.

And of course, you gotta love the obligitary criticism "how Bush of you" Can't wait to see who next year's boogie man will be.

  • The gentlepersons behind this video and the "E.F.F" (shades of Patty Hearst) are probably the type who voted for Tim Eyman's 697. The Port Townsend boats were my favorite of the system... too bad we don't have the money to properly maintain them!

  • Oh yes, privately run is the way to go. That way they can charge higher fares to cover all of operations and capital too! Gregoire wasn't stonewalling on the investigations... WSF itself was. Charming scare tactics, though. How Bush of you. Also interesting to note that none of your footage was actually OF the Steel-Electrics. But those copyrights you violated won't be too upset...

  • Cuz they are "free" now. lol

Your an idiot if you don't think we don't pay for it now. We pay every cent as much as a private company would cost and with all the bureaucracy and bloat probably much more so.

If WSF mis-manages itself, say they buy some stuff they don't need, no big deal.. nobody get fired because they don't care, they don't pay the bills, you do.

  • Actually, there's some housecleaning going on at WSF right now. But while WSF isn't perfect, it's pretty clear you aren't well-versed in the history of the ferry system on Puget Sound, or you'd know why private enterprise didn't work. Black Ball was still subject to fare regulation by Olympia, because the ferries are essentially part of the highway system. Rather than operate at a loss, the boats waited until they were full to sail. But it's easier to say 'nuh-uh' than to do your reasearch.

  • The ferries should be PRIVATELY RUN. (as they once were)

There is no competition in the market so there is no incentive for WSF to do any better than its current state of "barley working".

A few private companies could operate them under terms from the state and they would be much safer and efficient than any bureaucrat could make them.

  • We need a governor with back bone and who understands how to run a business. Time to elect again Dino Rossi!
