Compaq Presario Laptop

I am curently on CQ61, nothing bad to say about it, except for the temperatures. Now, I dont know if it's the summer time, or to much dust inside, but the cpu is 50c when idle, and up to 80c when running stuff. The entire case also seems warm, with some places, like aluminium corners on keyboard, over the HDD, or at the bottom. That being said, it never once crashed because it overheated.

@ArtypNk Yes, i do have a CQ42 i been using it for almost 1yr.now - also observed the over-heating or easily heated - what i did is replace its thermal-paste and a ventilation fan & it improved a lot since then, even if i used it for 4-8hrs. Just have it regularly cleaned on the vent.fan & change the thermal-paste, hey, its a laptop not a desktop.

From my previous experience of using this laptop i would say don't buy it.

The lack of the support from HP as they have never sent a courier out to collect my laptop even though i asked time and time again they would not listern.

As for this laptop itself

The laptop used to overheat due to lack of ventilation.

Hard drive failures are common had to replace 3 hard drives..

Overall this laptop ran Vista perfectly. it's a shame it don't turn recieve power anymore. Time to phone HP again

i have the compaq presario cq62 which has an intel i3 dual core cpu@ 2.13 ghz and 3 gb ram... and the speakers are kick ass!

I've had my Compaq Presario C700 for a little over 3 years now. The only problems I've come across so far (other than Windows Vista) is that the CPU needs a new coat of thermal paste (my left hand has been getting quite warm when I use the laptop), it only has room for 2GB of RAM, and it's processing speed is only 1.46GHz. I'm getting a new CPU that runs at 2.0GHz, but outside of that it's a nice computer when you actually take care of it. Oh, and it seems that there's more than one C700 model.

Ok can some one help me out here am using this Compaq Persario f700 and it dosent pick up any wireless signal it use to. then it stop picking it up, then it started to again and stop. am using a ether net cable right now to get on the web =o

My laptop also have the same problem. I enquired many places and most of them told me that, the problem is with the Nvidia graphic chip. To change the chip it will cost you minimum Rs.10,000/- (INR) .

i don't like this thing, personally (i'm using it right now). I got it as a present from my dad tho, so i'm under pressure not to return it.

This computer has a very limited lifespan - good for a low end user, but if you have ANY kind of media-editing interest, whether it's audio, video, gaming, w/e- DO NOT buy this laptop. no PCI-E, everything is integrated in the mobo.

All in all- it's a big, well-performing netbook, but frustrating for media enthusiasts.

It's sort of weird how when you close the laptop it doesn't have a hinge to keep it in place, so everytime I open up my laptop it feels like its gonna break with creaking sounds! How do I open it up properly???
