  • I was thinking to buy a Z750 then I sitted on this KTM and now I don't know wich one I have to take..... It would be my first bike. What do you think ?

  • @floflospeed24 Hey. I belive you will have a lot more fun on the 990sm. The z750 is probably better to ride in town with, better fuel economy and overall better as 1st bike. It kinda depends if you have any experience with bikes before, like motocross? You should really test drive them both before you make up your mind, I think that you might want to change the z750 for something else after an season while you probably would be happy keeping the 990sm for several seasons.

  • @jensenyo Thanks for your answer :) Yes I'm riding a (roadster) 50cc since one year and I ususally ride in city, what I like with this bike is its light weight and huge maniability, and I think the Z750 will not fit in these points. I think you're right, even if I like roadster/sportbike, I've allways loved KTM and think I'll take a 990sm next year :) plus, everyone takes a Z750 for the first bike, so I prefer having a KTM and make them shit their pants in corners :)

  • @floflospeed24 get the kawa man , good japanese quality , unbeatable

  • @floflospeed24 KTM 990 SM on first bike = dead.

  • @nufcjohnd Sorry for a late answer, missed this post. I assume you mean the GoPro settings? Im using r2 (720p 170 degree wide angle) in this clip and I find it best for helmet cam mount.

  • uy q divertido ver la secuencia de una moto.

  • Yes, the best bike ever is a KTM, but its the Super Duke R! ;)

  • Hey man! I really like SM but I dont really know this model.

What about the ride position at high speeds? Like 180kmph or faster.

Also I dont know this bike topspeed. I know its not made to beat a superbike or something, but based on your video, looks like this bike is a fucking rocket!

If you can detail more, please answer me in a personal message! I am really excited about this bike and I just met it few days ago!

    Thanks!

  • is this motorbike comfortable for driving in the cities?

  • @tmgrk Its comfortable with the upright driving position, however the fuel injection is a bit 'snatchy' at low rpms. That can be a bit annoying if you are used to a smooth 4 cylinder Honda or equal. There are tons of easy modifications to fix this tho.

  • @jensenyo If you find the SM990 snatchy then never buy the superduke r. The SM is fucking smooth in low rpms compared to it.

  • @tmgrk Overtaking cars is really fun thanks to the massive torque and the bike is very easy to handle except for it being snatchy like @jensenyo says. Only problem with this bike is that it might turn you into a law breaking maniac. :)

  • I'm really close to byuing one of these from 09. You know of any common errors on the model? Had you rather gotten the R-model or is this one fine as it is for regular riding? Nice videos! :)

  • @schtojf Go for the SMR if you plan on attending track-days, if your not the SM is better with larger fueltank, better road suspension (especially if you like smaller roads which can be a bit bumpy) And its quite a bit cheaper.

  • @jensenyo

Perfect answer, then I'll call the dealer fist thing at monday to see i get the financing. :D

  • @jensenyo

Now I'm the happy owner of one of my dream bikes! :D Damn it's fun! This winter I'll follow your example and mount the Motohooligan kit. Seems your bike runs smooth on low rpms, the very opposite of my bike.

  • @schtojf Congratulations ! :D

Yes the motobox is an awesome modification, just make sure you have a pair of open pipes and the Akra-mapping.

16 tooth front sprocket is a must have too (imo) :)

  • @jensenyo

Älskar den här cykeln! :) Synd bara att det är vinter snart men som tröst får hon stå i lägenheten. :) Hur blir cykeln med 16-drevet?

  • Did you take the fairing off? It does come with one right?

  • your speedometer its on mph or kmh btw sorry for my bad english

  • @TheSerres4 Its km/h :)

  • 1st bike?

  • @twilliamsusmc Its my 5th bike.

  • Too bad I probably can't afford this bike in many years! It's 194.276 NOK, which is 36.086 USD... Registered that is. Way too much even if it's a top notch bike! Why can't they ever make a top notch bike normal people can afford without many, many years of saving?

  • @MarshallATV I would suggest changing your passport, here it's like 11k EUR ready to ride.

  • @zonqq I have no idea on how to change my passport or if it's even possible or legal in Norway.

  • guys , i like supermotos , but have no experience at all , what bike would you recommend , thx in advance (BTW , amazing vid )

  • guys , i like supermotos , but have no experience at all , what bike would you recommend , thx in advance (BTW , amazing vid )

  • I want a superduke soooooooooo bad when I hear they are an animal it makes me want one more

  • is this a good bike to get as a first bike? or is it too strong?

  • @geniemist I would say no, Atleast if you dont have experience riding a Motocross or something like that before ( chinese scooter does not count..:) The 990 has a lot of power at all Rpm's that could catch you offguard when riding in wet or before the tyres has warmed up. The snatchy trottle on low gears can be difficult to handle at low gears if you are un-experienced. I would recomend on of the 690 models or if you really want a bigger bike, the 950, that has carbs = smoother throttle response

  • Man, I bought the 990 SMR as my first bike of my life at 38YO... and I can tell ya that especially on wet surfaces at the beginning you'll sweat the shit outta you.

Now, since on this kind of bike to drive too fast is uncomfortable, you'll rarely be too much over the limits (as a beginner), which was for a crazy fuck like me a condition

And the bike is just SUPER precise, fantastic breakes, powerful, nice noise, at least there you have a bike that you will never reach the limits of as beginner

  • You're not helping me lose my desire to have one of these bikes...

  • the vid with bests wheelings I never saw on youtube... KTM make awesome bikes

  • Does the bike have a windshield Optional? With a windshield I'm sure you'll feel better at higher speeds. The bikes specifications list its top speed at 140mph. What is the orange thing on your handlebars?

  • Whats the max speed on 990 sm?

  • @DzejsonDzesi Bike Magazine reported 150 MPH. I have seen 142+ and not finished accelerating.

  • @DzejsonDzesi Guess I could try it out someday :) But anyhow.. this is not a bike you buy for the top speed, gets unconfortable over 150-160km/h imo.

  • @jensenyo I know,beside the wind,also the steering gets a bit floaty..

Did You really feel the difference when installing Motobox?

    I suppose thats an ECU ? :)

  • @DzejsonDzesi Very notable power and torque increase yes, and no its not an ecu, its an custom built airbox. Google it and you will find answers :)

  • @jensenyo what brand of gloves that is? they look very goood!!! thanks

  • @zardjali Thanks. The brand is SPYKE, I belive they are called Alien :)

  • @jensenyo I've had mine showing 138mph on the dash - ducking behind the small after market windscreen. The front end used to get twitchy at about 110mph but setting the suspension to sport solved that, as does changing the front tyre to a proper road tyre.

  • @graphicspy I actually made a somewhat decent try to max my bike out. Had 238 km/h which equals 148mph, and that was without any windscreen. Im running 16 tooth front so the revs was just at the limit 9500. Im thinking of trying out my bar mount for the GoPro and do some acceleration/speed tests with a clear view of the speedo.. have got a lot of requests on that.

Im working on setting up my suspension in the near future, the sport settings are desribed in the manual right?

    Cheers.

  • @DzejsonDzesi in my magazin: ktm 990 sm r -> 220 km/h

  • Here in Australia, Kangaroo's would make 5th gear 170Km/hr wheelies a pretty treacherous move in most places!!!!!!!

  • Nice bike. Would you mind posting an acceleration video?? It seems a very fast bike but placing the camera somewhere focusing the gauges might be nice. Thanks !!

  • @grandotitat Thanks, yeah I can do that as soon as it gets a bit warmer and the snow is melted :) Dont have any clip with the camera anywhere else than the helmet, but Im planning on buying a few other mounts to experiment with.

  • sweet video . love the 990 supermoto.

  • good video, good bike! where you from?

  • @ravencrau Thanks! Im from Sweden.

  • Good video !

How fast are you going in the 4th gear wheelies?

    What camera do you use?

  • @John2405 hey, Thanks! I pull it up around 100-120km/h and put it down around 170km/h

I Use an GoPro HD, this is 720p resolution in 30fps.

  • is a moto box like an air filter? What is it exactly?

  • @l7ARR3N Hey, Its a whole custom built airbox, google Motohooligan Motobox and you shall find answers :) The standard airbox is very restricted with limited airflow, so this modification does a lot good for the bike!

  • 5:20, 6:35, 7:17 fun fun fun!
