  • Great song from an under appreciated group.Check out Teenland.

  • I, 100% agree with NIGHTOWL8936 here!!

At first, when I listened to this certain song, I was just so 100% positive that Tom Petty of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers WAS THE LEAD SINGER OF THIS SONG!!

How disappointing to actually find out it is NOT Tom Petty after all!!

But, nonetheless, it is still 1 hell of a very good song, even if Tom Petty is NOT singing lead vocal on it!!

But, every single time, I hear this certain song, it was reminds me of none other than Tom Petty!!

  • awesome, awesome, awesome!

guest keyboard artist, Garth Hudson (The Band)

    really nice, clean piece

  • kinda like a Canadian Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

  • jay is my cousin

  • GO CANADA GO! :))) hehe^^ lol

  • HEY !!! Garth !!!! Cool !!!!!

  • Awesome song. His voice sounds similar to Neil Finns

  • Thanks for posting all these Northern Pikes videos @kurdtss @clm1224. So good to hear some older Canadian rock.

  • This is a great song and deserves alot of recognition. Women and drinking is a very real problem but the 'functionals' hide just like this woman...dying but nobody knows.

  • @tannysmith then quit feeling sorry for yourself and let someone know....

  • Can we please have old Canadian Rock back, honest rock from honest musicians. How were we supposed to know that was as good as it was going to get. Music today sucks and is perhaps our punishment for how bands like the Northern Pikes were treated.

  • They had a great jANgLy quality to their tunes..a lot like The Rainmakers of the same era. Solid band from Regina. Always liked them.

  • @ProbertFire Saskatoon eh...

  • My boyfriend, now ex went home and posted this to me after the explicit Soldier song by Eminem. Nice, alone Valentine's Day again and haven't seen him since. His loss!!!

  • Good quality kurdtss, thanks for sharing a great old video

  • Good musice died in the mid 90's. Nothing new is good unless it is from old bands.

  • Haha, is that black chick & the old man in the band?? Lol!

  • That's Garth Hudson from the band on keyboards buddy......

  • I'm pretty sure that girl is one of the "check it out!" singers on the Mellencamp song...

  • Catchy as anything!

  • Hey, is that the great Garth Hudson on organ! What a thrill to work with him. A musical genius, and a great CANADIAN band.

  • Gret Tune! Canada Rocks!

  • I know one of the band members his names Don Schmidt, he from my shit hole town of 500 ppl called Debden, he lived there after his little career here

  • GOOD STUFF!! SASKATOON BOYS YET.

  • The way this song is sung, it reminds me of Tom Petty because of the slight warble in the lead singer's voice.

Definitely a neat fusion of styles.

Its a real pity the Northern Pikes were not more commercially successful.

Today's music fan base is rather degraded. I'm glad I grew up back when music still had good content to it.

  • they were commercially successful, hope they make more music.

  • @nightowl8936

There's still good new music out there if you look for it

  • Awesome song, damn that black girl has a voice!

  • Great Song...Check out Garth Hudson on the organ. Garth is a member of The Band.

  • i guess it must be from a videotape concidering it has those old much music logos... Awsome!

  • oh this song rules

  • great song

  • Love this song. thanks.

  • OMG....I just realized Im getting old after i watched this video....thanks for sharing....brought back lots of memories

  • it's okay about the quality, I LOVE seeing all these great old videos!

  • Love this song, subject matter notwithstanding. Thanks for adding it.

  • This is gonna sound sad but when I was 8 I first heard this song about 4 am in the morning on much music and my mom was passed out on the couch and now this song reminds me fo my moms drinking problem sad but true thats all I have got to say....:(

  • I'm in love with this song!!!!! I know so many people it applies to. Wish someone would put the chords up so I could play on my acoustic.

  • Awesome

  • That's none other than the magnificent Garth Hudson of The Band on organ. He's also in the video for Kiss Me You Fool playing accordion.

  • Garth also plays the accordion in Roger Waters' Live in Berlin video. =)

  • I forgot what these guys looked like with long hair. I saw them do a reunion show and they sounded the same as when I first saw them as a kid at the Saskatoon EX.

  • the vid quality may not be so fine, but the sound and music is great.....under appreciated Canadian group!!!

  • The video is great actually. I miss the artsy style videos of the 1990s. Now all we have is pimps, hos, and emo kids. Where are the artistic videos like this, or Jeremy or a million other early 90s songs?

  • is it just me or does nobody get the point that its about drinking? great song but theres a lot more here than just the music.

  • I did get that, but it's not quite spelled out for you in the lyric. The video proves my hunch though that indeed it deals with alcoholism. Great song, great band. Jay Semko's solo work is great too. Greetings from a Dutch fan!

  • If memory serves a couple of songs on this album are about alcoholism.

  • where is this band today? Have they disbanded?

  • Check out State of Shock's 'Money Honey' vid here. I'm damn sure it's the same vocalist. Maybe the Pikes reinvented themselves. Cool!! =D

  • @baddaktor I'm not sure if they are currently active but you can fine their web site at "thepikes.com". There's a really good song on the front page named "Blame The Song". They also did an album with Les Stroud whom many know as "Survivorman".

  • @dbailey62 They still play shows together sometimes. In fact, they have one coming up on August 7 in Haliburton, Ontario at the Smile Festival.

  • @Tigger4Theo They are having a jam session in Regina tonight!

  • Not to mention the legendary Garth Hudson on organ...I think the back up singer used to sing with John Mellencamp and yes she is excellent!

  • I think this may just be my favorite Pikes video. It's so great to see them perform in it. They have an awesome group dynamic. You can really tell they're having fun. And the backup singer is great, isn't she?

  • I grew up with a dub of a dubbed tape of the Pikes and we played it until it could not be played anymore. I had no idea that they had vids and that they were so big in Canada.

  • another great song by a Great Group.!!

  • my hometown band with yet another awesome tune thanks Kurd

  • fantastic! great song from one of my favorite bands...thanks for posting!
