  • Big Man film. You know, people need to realise not all in fact no dinosaur was born fully grown. At some point in it's life Allosaurus was the same weight as a a man so it's not always true to say it's not accurate.

  • lol the allosaurus at 0:19 is like "ah my eye, stupid bitch got sand in my eye!"

  • 1:01 -- "This is a job for facial hair!"

  • He just wanted to say hi..

  • looks more like an Eustreptospondylus

  • that bitch was very rude to the allosaurus throwing sand in its eye, all it wanted to do was say hi..with teeth

  • To all who revel in pointing out that the allosaur is too small... I have 2 responses; 1st. It really isn't. 2nd. The film takes place on another planet! Ergo... maybe the evolutionary pattern caused that strain of Saurs to be smaller in stature.

    (I love hypothetical arguments!)

  • @dukes0916 Dont forget there were REAL places in the world that were filled with miniature versions of dinosaurs. They simply needed to evolve smaller.

  • It's funny how she didn't think to run away the first second it attacked. Seriously, she could have just run from the allosaurus, but no, she layed on a rock and screamed and thrashed around.

  • So thie bitch throws sand in its eye, yeah because its never had sand in its eye living in a desert an all

  • never throw dirt at a dinosaur

  • Inaccuracies or not, that dinosaur is pretty badass!

  • funny, I always through this thing was a young T-Rex even when it got eaten by the bigger carnivore.

  • @silverakantor the bigger one is a trex but during the time they made this movie they were not making the creatures based on thier real size

  • @fastold ya i know, just way back when I was a kid, it buged me and confused me

  • The soundtrack can be listened here : watch?v=j1Q0Vw0ICcA Enjoooooooy :D

  • Planet Of The Dinosaurs Theme Song: watch?v=lDSuYaNL-Fc

  • ive always laugh at that litle knife he had

  • its funny how stupid humans thing dinosaurs were monsters who only roar the whole time................

we are just so backward xD

  • THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME. I finally got the DVD and not only is it one of my favourite movies from my childhood, its undeservedly overlooked. The acting may be kinda bad, but it is way better than some of todays acting (Sci-Fi Channel for example) and the effects are (for the tight budget) AWESEOME! I just love the T-Rex in this movie, it is so greatly designed and animated, WIOW. The movie may be Trash to most, but I still and (forever will) love it!

  • To everyone who's saying that the Allosaurus is way too small, ever think that mabye it's just a YOUNG Allosaurus??

  • Allosaurus it's not small, it's about 12m (40ft) long and weight is 2-5tonne it's one of the largest Theropod the group of carnivore dinosaurs. Head of Allosaurus is 1m (3.3ft) and largest teeth is 10cm (3.3inch) and height is 4-4.5m (13-15ft).

  • I have to say its not the worst I've seen. The animation side of things are pretty good, smooth although it would have been nice to imply more speed. Sure its too small, hell the first time you see it running after her its bigger than when the people are fighting it. Such inconsistencies were common though and are usually not the fault of the animator. I find it a bit distracting that his jaws don't meet, it has an underbite but hey otherwise good stop frame.

  • In fact, Jim Danforth was a superb stop-motion guy. His work in "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth" was some of the best of its time, including Mr. Harryhausen's. Also from him: "7 Faces of Dr. Lao" and the dragon (and probably more) in "The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm," both directed by George Pal. I understand he turned to matte painting later in his career. He did the beetle man in "Flesh Gordon," and his name in the credits is spelled backwards.

  • @bobbo924B Dont forget the penisaurus.

  • Guys, this movie is old, the reason why the allo is so small is cus the film makers did not know much about allosaurus so of course they would get it wrong.

  • will she just shut up all she does is scream

  • The stop motion in this movie was good. That was about it though. The story sucked and some how spears are better than laser guns. Odd.

  • Whenever the allosaurus is hit by something it starts rockin' o.O

  • 1.05 ownd

  • This movie is way too non-realistic. Allosaurus was way bigger than that.

  • @MrAgkfan probably just a juvinile, this movie needs a remake for the sci fi chanel, sure it be a crapppy film, but it be fun

  • I have this on video LOL

  • it's funny cause i nthe end the allosaurus gets eaten by the Trex

  • Wow, I didn't know that Allosaurs were human-sized.

  • AHAHAAAHHAH she threw sand in it's eyes. xDD Awesome.

She has an annoying scream though. Lol

  • Saved by Benny from ABBA 1:03.

  • the allosaurus is smoking?

  • LOL love the bad acting.

  • u wouldent like that to happen when u walk out your front door

  • pussy flashses!!! it was so common in the 70's

  • Hmm, I think I`ve seen this movie before. I remeber a scene where a tricertops impales a guy with it`s horn, then throws him off a cliff.

  • is this in blue ray too? ha-ha

  • i love valley of gwangi

  • sine when allosaurus can reach his head with a tiny hands :D

  • since when was it that small?

  • not bad

  • I still have this movie on VHS it's a classic

  • siempre existio PU.

  • Heh, the don't make Allosaurs like they used to!

  • lol old mivie

  • I love old mivies.

  • lol smallest allosaurus ever xD

  • @Gamez4Lif3 must've been you ng lol

  • @Gamez4Lif3 Depends on the species, Allosaurus atrox and Allosaurus fragilis were 7-9 meters, later species were up to 12.5 or so.

  • I remember renting and then getting this movie for Christmas. The stop motion effects weren't near Harryhausen or anything, but they were surprisingly good compared to how crappy everything else in the movie was. Haha now that I think about it they probably looked even better in contrast. I should pull out my old VHS and watch this again sometime. Great cheesy fun, but can you believe this won a Saturn award?

  • That was a very small Allosaurus. Much smaller then Gwangi.

  • Yeah right. He's more like a Utah-Raptor or something.

  • The headline says 'allosaurus'. Maybe it is a toddler allosaurus.

  • A very young one. Maybe "the boy who likes to destroy"?

But who cares? It doesn't matte if those movies are correct or not. Stop motion movies are just awesome and a lot of fun for sunday afternoon or if you're ill. I just love them since i was a little child when i saw "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad". Other movies like "The Valley Of Gwangi" followed.

  • hahahahaha that is so lame!!!

    genieus!!! hahahhahahaa

  • hahaha awesome!:D

  • the Planet of Vasquesz Rocks...

  • Wow, very smooth stop-motion! Good frame rate! The only problem is the chroma key effects...the dinosaur appears sharper and clearer than the live-action footage, but that's forgivable considering the time and the likely low-budget.

  • lol thats a small allosaur

  • it was obviously a juvenile

  • God I love this movie. Thanks to youtube uploads I was reminded of the VHS copy we had when I was a kid and I ordered it cheap off Amazon. Awesome.

  • you can watch this movie on youtube just type in planet of dinosaurs part 1 ingwersengrady!

  • Allosaurus is head-bangin' - 0:50

  • agreed ingwersengrady!

  • impressive stop motion animation i have seen this movie three times on youtube, the acting was bad but a clever plot and fun to watch!

  • Ok Its not an Allosaurus its a Streptospylus From England Lived in the Early Mid Jurassic! I was there ! I think it was on a Wednesday Bout 3 o Clock in the Afternoon. Or was it a Quarter Past ? Hhmmm can't remember now it was some Millenia ago! Aaahh the fun we Had !!!

  • allosaur its too small

  • what a beautiful couple of legs, guys!!!! she is hot

    what's her name???

  • Captain Lee Northside: Louie Lawless (but with the voice of director James Shea)

    Jim (Engineering): James Whitworth

    Nyla: Pamela Bottaro

    Charlotte (Nurse): Charlotte Speer

Harvey Baylor (Vice-President, Spaceways Inc.): Harvey Shain

Derna (Secretary): Derna Wylde (now a Nevada artist)

    Chuck (Navigation): Chuck Pennington

    Mike (mustache guy): Michael Thayer

    Cindy (Communications Officer): Mary Appleseth

    Kid: James Shea's new child.

  • It looks older because they shot it on 16mm, and that format was dung back then. It had a real low budget. But Douglas Beswick went on to do all the stop-motion for one of the star wars films with Jim Danforth. Stop-motion in this film was good. This aint a good example. The best looking stuff was from the Tyrannosaurus.

  • agreed kezadrone!

  • location, vasquez rocks.

  • you are right futuristfood!

  • that was crap! 1. his spear would barly effect the dinosaurs 2. WTF was the ray gun that made the dino run away 3. allosaurus wouldnt have bin able to wipe his eyes 4. How could the guy make sure the allosaurus not attack him. 5. WATCH JP OR SOMETHIN THIS IS CRAP!

  • Wow guess you can't watch a movie with out taking it apart then!!

  • Yes i can watch a movie but i dont want to be a old grand ma like you and watch mocies that look like they were made a bit after colour came out!

  • Well for starters I'm not granny. I'm 20. And well it seems you have no apprecation for old cinema! *sigh* It's sad you think that way!

  • Excellent effects, but that's all this movie has to offer. And there's nothing really wrong with that.

  • Looks just like the Allosaurus from The Lost World (1925)

  • clever and campy, impressive stop motion animation seen this movie youtube twice!

  • this doesn't look from 1978

  • it is from 1978 silly litiux88 i have seen this movie on youtube twice!

  • this is a great movie!!!!!! what are you guys stupid?

  • WTF that thing is tiny!

  • omg this is great!!

  • Bruttissimo film.

Poi avete visto com'è piccolo l' Allosaurus?

  • yes

  • At 00:44, it looks...odd.

  • hjey! the Trex is supposed to come eat it!!!

  • oh boy, this is bad

  • funny...lol

  • lmao lasers pure ownage!!

  • What happened to the 4 lazer guns???

  • One girl dropped one in the water and ruined it. Another girl dropped one off the edge of the cliff breaking it. Another guy got stabbed by a styracosaurus while he had a laser gun and fell off the edge of the cliff while he had it. So that is how the three other lasers were ruined.

  • Haha, 2 girls and 1 guy ruined them but the guy had a good reason =P.

  • lol!

  • Looks like she's not wearing any underwear. It obviously noticed it and

    wanted to mate.

  • If its an allosaurus Im elvis presley..

  • I have to laugh!

  • the biggest problem these lower budgeted monster movies had was that the scale of the creatures would change from shot to shot. that dino changed size about 3 times.

  • Who did the creature animation in this film? Jim Danforth??? I know it is not Harryhausen's high caliber work!

  • The dinosaurs were animated by writer/producer James Aupperle, Doug Beswick, and Stephen Czerkas.

  • Poor woman, she is total hysterical and seems to be only able to scream. Luckily, she has a strong and handsome man to take care of her.

  • Nonetheless it's very clever and reasonable casting sand in the monster's eyes and nostrils ;-)

  • Oh man I love this movie I used to watch it all the time when I was little.

  • omfg meh to

  • Those rocks are so fake. Totally unconvincing.

  • Look when it was made -.-

  • This movie is widely considered to suck, but I must say that's a pretty darn good piece of stop-motion animation.

  • I always pegged this booger as a megalosaurus.

  • lol

  • Apparently, throwing a spear at an Allosaurus with Insular Dwarfism causes it to have a seizure.

  • Rather...small for an Allosaurus, don't you think?

  • I think that dinosaur was trying to cop a feel....

  • OMG..... Caveman in Haggarz!!!!11!!........

  • I may still have this piece of crap on VHS somewhere in my house.

  • That was an Allosaurus? I always thought it was a baby T-Rex, but I guess that explains why the bigger T-Rex took a bite of it's head

  • I swear there's another scene from this film where a T rex gets pushed off a cliff by a bulldozer.

  • You're thinking of the film Dinosaurus!, directed by Irvin S. Yeaworth, Jr.

  • The one with the caveman and the toys that get hit by lightning?

  • ya that one, in fact that movie came in a 2 box set with this one, i should know i have them!

  • Pew pew pew, lazerz!

  • lmfao

  • this is really funny

  • if she got the chance to run, why the heck did she stop and sit on the rock screamin'? a trademark of classic films. lol :))

  • Lier

  • That Allosaurus wasnt attacking he was just trying to mate with her!

  • this laser will kill almost anything! yeah that was a lie

  • roflmao gotta see this film XD

  • That's a small allosaur

  • is it just me or are the women in these movies always getting attack by some sort of monster wouldernt they have sence to just stay with the group?

  • i member when Mike dies in this movie....so sad he was the best

  • I thought that Theropods like allosaurus had a makeover in the 1970's from slow beasts that dragged their tails along the ground to fast agile predators that held their tails off the ground.

  • I like stop motion better than CGI. Stop motion uses "real" objects. A lost art.

  • Why is it that no one thinks to turn and run the moment they see something with big pointy teeth?

  • woo. the guy with the ray gun was very spontainius

  • I know right. I haven't watched this shit since I was like 7 years old. Never questioned any of these peoples actions or asked why the dinosaur would be detoured by a man waving his hand in the air. Pretty humorous. It was a simpler time

  • Lol the size is always different :D I love those films.

  • Ya there was I have it on vhs. Great movie

  • not bad for the 70`s

  • that laser looked pretty weak.

  • dude, the dinosaur has man legs :') haha

  • looked more like the dino was going to rape her instead of eating here

  • ya!

  • I bet it is a young Allosaurus.

  • ya, the Allosaurus weighed in at about 6 ton's that looked more like a Velociraptor.

  • Hey, is it his fault he's a runt?

Watching this movie, you can really tell every penny of the budget went into the stop-motion work. They sure didn't hire actors.

  • lmao

  • the allosaurus is small

  • allosaurus was heaps bigger than that

  • this movie was awesome..I used to have it on VHS when I was a kid.

  • man I wanna see this movie, Dinosaurs and Lazers!

  • Did they even do at least a little bit of research?!?! Hollywoods those days....

  • this wrong on so many levels.............my didnt we come a loooooooooooooooooong way

  • Yeah , that was a small one.

  • An Allosaurus was like a billion times bigger than that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Em, aye, ok!

  • this movie rocks lol! loved it when i was a kid

  • i loved this movie as a kid, or, at least, i wanted to love it

  • Great animation, but the movie was truly terrible. Just listen to that music and imagine it for the entire two hours *Shudders*

  • "Just listen to that music and imagine it for the entire two hours"

Lol, yes, 95% of this movie is people walking through the desert while the music makes you think something interesting is about to happen, even though it doesn't.

  • Harryhausen had nothing to do with the animation in this. Doug Beswick was Chief Stop-Motion Animator & he was Supervised by Jim Aupperle another one of the best animators out there along with Jim Danforth as Matte Artist who was also a Stop-Motion Animator & one of the best too he won 2 Oscars. This film has some of the best animation ever. Beswick's previous work was helping Rick Baker design the Octaman Costume for that 1972 Cult Classic Sci-Fi/Horror/Thriller.

  • ray harryhausen didnt do any of the work for Planet of Dinosaurs he was too expensive

  • Sorry I have to ask again because the video I asked the question on got dealated. So anyway, who did the creature effects?

  • stephem "Cherkiz"..i think thats how you spell the last name, him and his wife have been doing it for years, and i dont know about this specific dinosaur, but he did the whole stegosarus against t-rex fight

  • oh really? The looked pretty Ray Harryhusan to me.

  • yea, but i read it in a old dinosaur magazine a looonnnggggg time ago, and i cant be sure if it said that he did ALL of the creatures. but he did the rex and steg, and they look similar in many ways

  • and correct me if im wrong, but wasnt he the genius that did clash of the titans and the jason and the argonants effects?

  • Yes he was. He is an amazing stop motion effects artist. He used to alot of old fantasy/dinosaur movies. His work is incredable.

  • yea, he is. pure genius

  • Oh yes. Ray Harryhusan is a master. No question about that. He is talented.

  • Czerkas?
