@kathryntovey92265 I believe you have to look at the brazier (I think you can switch between the things you look at with the Page Up and Page Down buttons when there's several things nearby, but I may be incorrect) and then press the U button. I think I had a hard time figuring that one out myself as well when I first played it. :3

Basically I = inventory, U = Use and P = Pick up most of the time!

@mb111488 It wasn't easy to find out why, but I found out that the company didn't contact UK actress Alexandra Boyd for voicing Elaine for this game. They cast American actress Charity James for it, but Alexandra Boyd voiced Elaine for Tales of Monkey Island (via Skype) and voiced Elaine for the Special Edition of Monkey Island 1 and 2. Monkey Island 4 received criticism for Alexandra Boyd not doing Elaine's voice.

I was completely disappointed when I first played it (mainly compared to MI3, but also all previous parts, Guybrush Threepwood became such an idiot, and they packed too much joke and stupid things into the game + gfx and Alone in the Dark controls instead of point-n-click, etc). I played it recently again, and I found it pretty good. Well at least the secret of Monkey Island reveals...

The thing that bothers me about the 4th game is how Guybrush's character was tweaked and resulted in him being a nitwit. In the games previous to this he wasn't the "adorable numbskull" but just a 20 year old kid that nobody respected. Making Guybrush a buffoon didn't make him any funnier than he was before so I didn't really get the point of the change.

I think MI4 didn't quite get it right with the 3D - especially the awful controls which just didnt work like they were supposed to on PC - grr! MI5 (Tales..) got it right with the 3D I think - finally nailed it, and now I'm dying for MI6! lol

For me, MI was improving greatly from 1 to 2 to 3. The style was unlike anything I had seen at the time. MI4 was slightly weird in the storytelling, though the plot was still interesting.

Tales brought my interest back.

there is a bug in my PC version:

if you don't hit Herman with the items in the right order you have to reload and start again...

i had no other savegames so i gave it up....

the result is that i don't know yet how this episode ends ;-)

Good.... lord. I love the Monkey Island series god holy crap these graphics hurt. I hate when good franchises try and keep up with the times TOO much, and end up with an ugly mess like this. I like Curse of monkey island's graphics. They were advanced, yet quaint. I guess there's a reason this was the worst game in the series.

The first game, Launch of the Screaming Narwhal, is being released this year on July 7th. I am a big Monkey Island fan. My favorite is The Curse of Monkey Island.
