Touching memorial to Luke. I view it every so often to stay grounded and remember the friends we let slip through the cracks. Many of us are too immature and caught up with our lives and lifestyles to realize when someone really needs our help. By the time we are wise enough to realize what a friend's responsibilities really are we have already lost too many. Yes, the court system is broken but so are our value systems, especially amongst friends.
....I didn't get to know Luke very closely although I spent quite a bit of time around him with people from Wendell and Winthrop. For some reason I remember his smile in particular. He is missed.
Hopefully we can all pay more attention to the actual needs of the friends we still have and pass on those values to our kids so they may not make the same mistakes we have.
I use to live in Broketown and can rrelate w/your brothas experience but it has nothing to do with the court system...it has to do with the PARENTS changing the way they raise their kids...teach them torah raise their children to love the Most High instead of guns and drugs...just a thought my condolences my firend lost a brotha out in New Bedford not to long ago tot he mean streets...
Me and my family thank everyone for posting comments regardless of its nature. To know that people are still viewing our story means so much!!! God Bless every individual living the American struggle whatever it may be! Much love and thanks!!!
Thank you to everyone that has stopped by to see our memorial to Luke and even perhaps leave a comment..It has been over a year but missing him has not lessened. To everyone that has lost a loved one, whether by war, drugs, violence...my heart is ONE with yours.
iplayrs...there hasn't been ONE single day in all the years that I've lived here when I haven't heard the sound of a siren somewhere. "The Sweet Schreech of the Siren Swan". Rise above it and stay strong...
there's a lot of hood cities actually, lynn, dorchester, mattapan, and lowell. i only know the area around boston though. Boston itself is pretty safe, the surrounding parts not so much.
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I lost my 21 year old nephew to the ravages of drug abuse, and his girlfriend followed him in death (via OD) less than 6 months later. I am glad that this epidemic is making news in a lot of places--if only one life is saved, it will be worth it. These are our kids! Congrats to yopapadukes on your sobriety, I truly DO know it's one day at a time. God Bless you and keep you safe.
damn ive been to this city alot im out revere now in brighton but ive lost so many so fuckin many to stupid shit like getting killed senselessly and o.d'in.. so fucking sad atleast the enterprise and the tv show intervention helped shine lite to this horrid situation thats killing so many of us. i am a strugglin addict trying to stay clean in this world of hurt and suffering i force a smile tho i live everyday as if it was my last. god bless
Hey Papadukes...I'm so glad my video touched you enough to leave a comment. It helps to know my brother's story will live on and know his death was not in vain. God Bless
Im sorry for your lose, stay strong. Im from brockton and its not really a good place i live on winthrop st where the 18 yr old and 7 yr old was shot. this city is bad but there are cities that are worse but i still cant wait til move.
I live on Fuller St..I love it an dont wanna leave....Brockton isnt that serious...I can walk to the north side an back at 2 in the mornin if I want to an have no problems at all...the city isnt causing allthese problems...people make their own choices...people make the choice to shoot people..people make the choice to use drugs..Ive been homeless sleepin in edgars park I never went an shot up heroine for it..people need to stop blaming where they live an look at themselves
We are both from Brockton, and we have a 23 yr old who have been fighting addiction for 4 yrs, We fear his death every day, It is sad that there is very little help for our kids once they get hook on drugs. Our son started with Oxy pills he was getting from his football coach...can you belive that?
now his life is not his own anymore, it belongs to the drugs...

I'm sure there's plenty...but Brockton is about 20 miles from Boston and I think we get a lot of spillage.

I am very sorry for your loss. I grew up in Brockton and I know how rought it can be.
But, I'm sorry, the courts don't need to change, people need to change. Drugs are an epidemic in our area, and only those who abuse them can stop it.
