I don't know about you, but I liked the idea of having Yuyuko cameo as a Stage 1 boss. Being in Stage 1 wasn't an insult, as it was just a pretty nice way to have her pop her head in without making the game overly difficult. Plus, seeing simpler versions of Yuyuko's attacks in PCB was a bit nostalgic. It would cool if ZUN continued this trend and had another Stage 5 or 6 boss reappear in an early stage in Touhou 14.

Haven't seen that since... what, PoFV? Also, totally wins the record for hardest Stage 1 boss in the series, despite TD as a whole being miles -easier- than its predecessors.

This theme in no way overwrites her actual, grander "srs bisniss" theme. This song only projects her greeting of throwing some energy at you before sending you on your way.

To all people going "UUUUHHH yuyuchan got demoted to stage one! UUUUHHHH", Yuyuko's sprite after the fight is no different than before the fight, so she wasn't fighting to her full capacity, and neither was the heroine, and yuyuko didn't wind up with torn clothes, bandaids, etc. like most other opponents do. So Yuyuko is still a complete badass, it's only that she wasn't serious about fighing this time.

@lucarioman69 I thought her demotion to stage 1 was a cunning plan to catch Mystia. You see, Mystia is sometimes part of Team ⑨, which consists of stage 1 and 2 bosses. So Yuyuko had this brilliant idea to pose as a stage 1 boss to be accepted into Team ⑨, so that she can get close enough to Mystia to capture her.

It is a bird-catching plan worthy of Wile E. Coyote and Sylvester themselves!

What a powerful Stage 1 boss theme. Not bad, but not really the best either. Not like I could expect it to beat Border of Life.

Mima -might- make a comeback. They're going to Myouren's temple and the mausoleum there, and Mima did both go to and live in Makai, where this story takes place (In an esoteric district called Meikai.)

Yuyuko must know her, since she knows the Prismrivers, and Layla's dead, so she should have a grave (the Prismriver family mausoleum?)... But then, Yuyuko says sth about "troublesome" and Layla isn't really that...

@Lukahyun Actually, upon closer inspection (I zoomed) it turns out that it might not actually be a hat, but horns. It's hard to tell, so I'm still not taking back what I said. I still think Layla might make an appearance, but now I won't be to surprised if it's the third Deva of the Mountain.

Either way, I'm excited. I'm sure it'll be an awesome game. (Don't worry, I had my difficulties in Easy Mode to. And look for ZUN's blog, you'll see the picture in his latest.)

I think the stage 1 position really clarifies her whimsical nature. Not she can't be absurdly powerful /just because/ she took the slot, but that she's a carefree individual.

I also think it's better that he reused old characters. Seriously, the cast list is too freaking big as it is.

I'm not a huge fan of this theme though, it sounds too much like Magus Night.

@McDodgerMan I think it, like Magus Night, embodies the laborious struggle against a higher teir character. Yuyuko's pretty strong, anyone fighting Yuyuko is akin to Cirno against Marisa. And, Yuyuko -was- going just as easy on the characters as Marisa was on Cirno.

I'm not quite sure, so I can be wrong.

But I think it refers to the bgm sound change whenever you enter the spirit world (either by pressing C or diying when you have at least one flame on your orin meter[the things near the skull on the bottom of the screen])

Then again I've never noticed any bgm changes.
