yup, and hdmi also does.

The difference between those two is that hdmi also gives an audio signal and dvi does not.

So if you hook it up with dvi you wont be able to use the audio jack in the monitor.

tn screen have poor viewing angles. the more of centre you look, the darker the screen becomes. to get round this, you need a pva os ips screen, which cost more normaly. these types can have other limitations, so you need to think what your main use of the screen will be.

I have a 360 hooked up to my acer 24 inch through HDMI and the way I do it is by hooking up the speakers to the audio port in the back of the monitor. That way it recognizes the picture as well as the sound. Hope you're monitor works out

If you want that (1:1 pixelmapping) buy a samsung syncmaster T240HD or T260HD. (24" and 26")

You can do nothing about it. You should have done more research, in order to get black bars and thus no stretched image you need 1:1 pixelmapping which this monitor does not support. You can not fix this, just maybe if you reduce the resolution to a same scale. (xbox is 16:9 this monitor is 16:10 )

HDMI and DVI are virtually the exact same, the only difference is that HDMI can also do audio at one time, while with DVI you will need a second cable for audio. Video quality wise, they are 100% identical

I actually saw a difference between DVI And HDMI. I ran crysis to compare and it was darker on the screen with hdmi cable. It could have been the settings or the cable i guess.

Well that coudl also depend on the LCD. For example, the LCD in this video has an option named" HDMI Black Level" which, as you could guess, adjusts the black level for anything plugged into HDMI. There may some slight differences like that, but no night and day difference.

Yeah, it was probably a custom setting for the HDMI input. Both DVI and HDMI are digital. That means the quality of the cable cannot affect the output of the image. Either it displays the picture or it doesn't. The rest is irrelevant.

its a TN panel.. this is what companies use normally on all cheap (price wise) lcd panels

TN panels usually have good latency to reduce ghosting but cannot truly reproduce colours, if you read the specs and see viewing angles of 170-160, chances are its a TN panel.. this is perfectly normal

Yes... Just take the Audio leads from the 360 and plug that into your receiver. Either RCA or Optical will work.

Hello everyone, I just got a Samsung 2493hm but I have a problem. When I plug the hdmi cord into my monitor, the picture looks a bit dark. And it doesn't exactly look like HD quality. Its more like Standard. Anybody know why this is? Could anybody tell me what settings they use to play their 360? And for some reason, I can't adjust my contrast. With the iMac you would use the Apple Mini DVI to DVI adapter and plug it into the Samsung by DVI and the XBOX would plug in using HDMI and it would work great!
