  • "Make it so, number one!"

    hahaha epic

  • Please forgive any racist implications.. but does anyone else think the Count sounds a bit Jewish somehow?

  • Win. Epic, epic win.

  • I wish he pulled out a phaser and killed Count, then screamed "#1 get in place" and Riker comes out of nowhere and gets where the number 1 was supposed to be.I love Picard (Stewart) and Riker.

  • MAKE IT SO NUMBER 1!

  • That was beyond epic.

  • Number 7 looks hungover

"Well, I've had a little practice."

    Love it!

  • saw it coming....was still fucking aweosme

  • Ian McDiarmid would've mind tricked it the 1.

  • "Make it so, number one!"

You know the sad thing is, I'm a HUGE Star Trek nerd and even when I saw the number one out of place and Patrick Stewart came along, I STILL didn't see that line coming. LOL!

  • screw arabic numerals roman numerals are the shit!

  • MAKE IT SO NUMBER ONE. ENGAGE (with his hand pointing at that screen in enterprise)

  • aaahhhhhhhh! this is awesome!

  • ROFL! I LOVE IT!

    "Make it so, Number One!"

Either we need practice, or a line like that. ;D

  • Make it so Number One!

  • But Animaniacs was like The Muppet Show in that it targeted adults, even though kids enjoyed the show, whereas old school pre-Elmo Sesame Street targeted kids, but was enjoyed by adults.

  • so cute

  • Did he ever do a skit with the letter 'Q'? (if not he should have!)

  • Commander Riker's running around the enterprise in circles!

  • You have the bridge number one, I have to go number two!

  • MAKE IT SO NUMBER 1! XD

That's as good as when Levar showed the Enterprise on reading rainbow

  • Picard was on Sesame Street. LaForge was on Reading Rainbow. What's next? Wharf on The Muppets?

  • Oh, if only. Roger Moore (James Bond) was on The Muppets once, though.

  • oooh, the count has not the power on his own....

  • Wait i'm comfussed did Lex Luthor take over Sesame Street. Or is this just a teaser trailer for superman returns again the rebooted series

  • You don't start counting from zero

  • @jackel1490 well it depends on the context. computer scientists, for example, definitely start counting from zero. this is because the count is usually an additive index, so x+0 gives the first element in a list, x+1 the second, and so on.

  • GROAN!

  • Boldly going where no 1 has gone before.

  • 0:53

I wonder what child watching this would have caught the TNG reference.

  • 7 of 9 mmmmm

  • A STTNG reference in Sesame Street.

    I love it. Amazing!

  • and people still find it hard to choose between Kirk and Picard

  • Make it so "Number One"

  • awesome!

  • A little touch of "Star Trek" in "Sesame Street". Nice touch!!! Plus, I've always been a big Patrick Stewart fan.

  • The Count is an awesome character and Patrick Stewart is a fantastic actor! I loved his performances in Conspiracy Theory, Star Trek, and Robin Hood Men In Tights!

  • picard and the count...a wonderful mix

  • Oh, I LOVE Patrick Stewart! He is totally awesome!

  • A little something for the Trekkies!

  • That's just awesome. :D

  • PATRICK STEWARD IS SO COOL

  • 1:46 rofl

  • I love Patrick Stewart. Too bad little kids who actually watch this wouldn't get the joke...

  • LOL AWESOME!!!

  • Boy, this show had a lot of famous guests stars.

  • No.1 likes Commander Riker.

  • Make it so number 1 !

    Classic!

  • MAKE IT SO, NUMBER ONE!

  • just go to show ya u shouldn't mess with Patrick Steward, or he lay the smack down on ya.

  • LOLOL.

The count sounds a bit like Chekov saying Picard's lines at the end there. Stwaaange...

  • HAA!^^ ...and when was that - same as with the B

  • i need you on the bridge number one!

  • It would be even better if he had the star trek badge and pressed it and said "One to beam aboard" and got beamed off. Instead of just walking off.

  • Engage!

  • Engage!

  • Too Awesome

  • That. Was. Awesome!!!

  • "Make it so numer one!"

    Roflcopter.

  • I've... had a little practice.

  • I see whatcha did thurr.

  • Oh pat. You show up in all the darndest places....

  • Make it so number one?! XD What's next Elmo with a VISOR? or Count with yellow contacts? XD *ahem* no disrespect intended to Gene Roddenberry or any of the Star Trek cast members I ab-solutely love Star Trek!

  • OMG!!!! YES!!!!!!!! i love thos !

  • IT would have been t3h 1337ness if he beamed out. TNG FTW

I will now stop internet speaks

  • Adorable!!!!

  • more like "there are TWO klingon wessels off the port bow! One, TWO, ah ah ah!"

  • Hey i want to be taught how to count by celebrities too!

Guess we are kinda backwards in Europe... :D

  • ah ah ah!

  • Oh, come on. Patrick Stewart is too cool for this.

  • LOL NUMBER ONE

  • What? I love Patrick Stewart! Come on! He's too cool for Sesame Street.

  • There are four lights!

  • I haven't seen seseme street since I was a kid so I don't remember, did the count always pronounce his Vs like Ws, or is that a Chekov reference?

  • kids will not get this....

  • oh my god, that was beautiful. why didn't i pay more attention to Sesame Street when i was younger?

  • WIN

  • How many people watching Sesame Street would get that? ... enough.

  • That was the best Sesame Street bit ever lol.

  • i love it

and the count's comment at the end about needing classical traing to pull off a line like that....

  • I totally saw the line coming!!! :D OMG. I LOVE PAT STEWART. <3

  • That was the best thing I've ever seen.

  • That was awesome. And pointless. XD

  • *falls over laughing*

  • That's awesome!

  • Patrick Stewart is just awesome! I love him!

  • Yeah, and he also kicks butt as Prof. X.

  • OMG this rulez !

Never knew Patrick Steward was ever on sesame street until now.

Also didn't see that "make it so number one" line comming !

Although he also could've make the numbers line up as current stardate LoL !

    Respect for the man !

  • that was great!

  • While this is very clever and funny, this is the only problem I have with sesame street. Why would you include jokes that don't work for the age demographic you are trying to appeal to / teach these concepts? This entire clip will shoot right over a 4yr olds head.

  • I think they do older jokes for the parents watching the show with their kids. And probably because they think it is funny. :)

  • This is only a guess, but maybe either

    1) They think that kids will see Star Trek later on and make the connection

    2) It was purely something for the writers and they wanted a reason to work with Stewart haha

  • Well, the counting is the main lesson being learned in the clip. Patrick showing up and being epic is something that maybe the creators appreciated and also to share with the adults who have to sit though this stuff and watch with their children. Including more sophosticated jokes and themes is nothing to be surprised about in a childrens tv show. It's practically commonplace.

  • Well, those jokes happen to make it funny when you aren't 4, and either have to or chose to watch Sesame Street.

  • Everybody watched star trek in the late 80s/early 90s.

  • It's more for the benefit of the parents who are stuck watching this with their kids and going out of their minds with boredom.

  • Only the "Make it so, number 1" would shoot over a kid's head. And they throw those references in because adults sometimes watch the shows with their kids.

  • Because little kids will still find it funny, even if they don't get the reference (the one won't listen to Count, Stewart can get it to go there, Stewart has a really cool voice, etc), and it keeps the parents/babysitter from dying of boredom!

  • iaapgoi - Sesame Street has always had celebrities on the show since it's inception in 1969. Part of the reason was that parents USED to spend time in front of the TV with their children rather than using it as a babysitter as they do now.

If they have these stars that the parents would know it helps to cut down on the tediem they might think comes with a children's show and the jokes help keep the parents viewing as well.

  • Because parents are often watching with their children, and it helps to entertain them too. That's often why they feature guests that a child might not be particularly excited about.

  • because 4yr olds watch Sesame Street with their parents. it's the same reason they put adult jokes in kids' movies.

  • Don't be so sure, I watched TNG with my parents all the time as a kid and would have gotten this joke.

  • At least when this aired, a lot of parents watched this with their kids(mine did). They often put in jokes aimed toward older people that weren't necessarily part of the learning aspect of the show. Now it's like they write the dialog for a retarded newborn monkey, and the 'learning' on the show is half-assed at best.

  • yes, but these jokes are for the parents of the 4yr old, who are waching because the 4yr old is hogging the tv

  • Sesame street is usually watched, together with parents :) ~ Many other things also in Sesame street are either jokes, or educatory remarks aimed at parents aswell, if you didn't notice.

  • Except for the part where they count from 1 to 9.

And that's all they really need to learn.

  • The joke might, but the counting from 0-9 won't.

And that's all they need to know.

  • the reason they include jokes for an older demographic is because often times parents watch these kinds of shows with their kids. And if you had to choose between your favorite celebrities making cameos on sesame street or some random guy dancing around in a purple dinosaur suit, which one would you want to watch together?

  • So this happens, all the people who watched this as a kid, and grew up and were star trek fans, go "why in hell's name did they do that?"

  • because they want to entertain the parents who take the time to sit with their child and a watch a program together

  • becase sumtimes parents will wach it with there kids

  • its probably for the parents that have to sit with their kids as they watch it benefit (bad grammer) and a lot of kids shows have pop culture references. animaniacs had one basically every line, they acually make a reference to bones in one episode.

  • Many times kids' shows try to appeal to the parents or older brothers/sisters who may have to watch the children. Many of the jokes in Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs were for adults to get while the kids were entertained by the goofiness. Actually, when I was young I got all the Star Trek jokes like this because I would always watch Star Trek TNG with my older brother :)

  • So the parents/older siblings/babysitters/whatevers that are watching it with them can be amused.

  • Keep in mind the parents watch it with the kids. several cartoons nowadays have multi-layered jokes for the parents too.

  • I kind of agree. How many people of that age group would have see Next Generation or the films?

  • I figure it was so that the parents who were watching with their kids could have a laugh too.

It's kinda like how animaniacs had alot of jokes only older kids/parents would get too.

  • because the parents watch too and the kids like it anyway

  • Parents watch television with their children. And, well, the writers have not bore themselves to death somehow ;)

(As an aside, that kind of thing is common on older animated shows, where for the kids it's simple slapstick, but the adults comprehend the suggestive humor.)

  • Hangin10: Yes, quite true. I'm reminded of the old Bugs Bunny cartoons with plenty of then-contemporary, as well as adult, references.

  • I still remember one episode of Beavis and Butthead where Butthead dreamed that he was Picard and Beavis was Commander Riker. "Number 1, I order you to go take a number 2!"

  • Number 1 is a douchebag

  • I am Locutus of Borg. You will now count these numbers.

  • VICTORY! XD

  • Did anyone notice Count's throw to Chekov right after One gets in place...?

  • haha, genious ;D

  • i like how the count zings patrick stewart: "I guess you need classical training for a line like that!"

  • I think the count should try and find the nuclear wessels next...

  • lol 1 won't listen to Count.

  • He said it! He said it! *squeal*

  • "MAKE IS SO, NUMBER ONE!"

    Amazing!

  • This is why Sesame Street is such a great show. The kids won't get the jokes, but the parents who watch with them will be entertained :D

  • i face-palmed

  • Why does the count sound mexican?

  • Thats hilarious.

  • One was obviously present at Wolf 359.

  • 0, 5, 7 and 8 look depressed.

  • That's because 7 8 9. Ha, ha, ha!!!

  • they should get count on the enterprise

  • Captain, we have zero photon torpedoes left, Zero!

  • Ah ah ah.

  • That one have been over the heads of most of the kids that watched it but they did it anyways. Patrick Stewart kicks ass.

  • That's awesome :)

  • M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-MAKE IT SO

  • lmao, Make it so, Numba 1!
