you are wnowingly onto the point. "如果哪天中国改朝换代后，与日本签订新条约..." is the reason why Other nation NEEDS some consistent geographical/region name which does not depends on state/dinasty name "中国"... like Siberia (which came from "鮮卑ria" and Cathay, as you mentioned ).
and your comment knowkingly got to another point. External world does does not want to use fructuating name of state which always cherishes like "如果哪天●●改朝换代后，与●●签订新条约...". Others just like reliability. [thanks]

支那既cine既中国之夜，我作为一个在海外的cine人一点也没有感觉侮辱之感。
苏俄人称呼我们中国为契丹，日本人称呼支那，突厥人称呼我们为cin（秦）英国人称我们是china，他们应该是先听意大利人传过来的。
我们自我不应该有自卑感。
如果哪天中国改朝换代后，与日本签订新条约，我希望加一条，日本人子孙后代永世不能讲中国二字，只能用支那代替。这与古代皇帝名讳一样，中国二字不能随便让人叫的。
