Actually Roger Waters wrote this song. Gilmour does sing it though here, on the album, and on a different version that appears during the "MORE" film.
no, actually pink floyd performed 'green is the color' and 'careful with that axe eugene' afterwards in many of their concerts. that's why you think that GISTC is opening of CWTAE.
thanx, that clears up y i have them as one song. But i have a song called GISTC that is a completely different song on that same album. still a little confused.
During some earlier performances, there was a setlist called, "The Man and The Journey," which was comprised of different names for different songs to make up a story, and these two songs ofter were put together. If you have a live recording, you may have ended up with one of these recordings. I don't understand your question exactly, but chances are that you either have one of these recordings or you have a mis-labeled song.
awesome, Thanks! This trails into Careful With That Axe... I'd love to see this whole set. it was broadcasted on the BBC I believe...used to have an old tape of it.
listening to this while you are in love, is the greatest thing ever

Well, it's kinda true!.. ;-)
If you watch "The Making of Dark Side of the Moon - part 5", Roger Waters states that they have very similar voices!...
I guess, this is why they could make such beautiful harmonies together... ("Echoes" comes to mind... ;-)

These guys just had a way of inter-locking melody and improvisation that is just downright unsurpassed. Absolutely beautiful.

This song is just too good. I'm kinda confused though, isn't this song just the opening of 'careful with that axe, eugene'?

Here'a my italian translation for this amzing song:
Lei fluttua nell'ombra di un'onda,
-erano nebbiose le intuizioni del suo gioco-
La luce del sole splende nei suoi occhi,
ma il chiarore della luna la acceca -ogni volta-
verde è il suo colore preferito,
e la sveltezza dello sguardo scompiglia la mente...
Molti sono i legami tra speranza e dannazione.
