Actually Roger Waters wrote this song. Gilmour does sing it though here, on the album, and on a different version that appears during the "MORE" film.

no, actually pink floyd performed 'green is the color' and 'careful with that axe eugene' afterwards in many of their concerts. that's why you think that GISTC is opening of CWTAE.

During some earlier performances, there was a setlist called, "The Man and The Journey," which was comprised of different names for different songs to make up a story, and these two songs ofter were put together. If you have a live recording, you may have ended up with one of these recordings. I don't understand your question exactly, but chances are that you either have one of these recordings or you have a mis-labeled song.
