gorgeous filly! I would just be careful of leaving that rope on her halter while she is in the pasture! It could get caught and a young filly like that would certainly spook and most likely get hurt! You should be alright if you watch her though!
@marcieincooke Thanks for viewing. We never leave halters on any horse without supervision. We do imprint our foals at birth and from the time they are born they are taught to give to pressure and learn that standing still is a good thing. These traits have come in handy when foals have left to go to new homes where a few got entanged in slick wire or slept near a fence and woke up half one one side, half on the other side- they stood/laid still without panicing until someone got them out.
@ctarabians very good! thank you! I just wanted to make sure that the foal would never get injured! Its very good that you train them that way! Thank you for taking the time to reply!
Yes, I see the negatives, but allot of people on youtube of teenie boppers who don't know a horse's arse from its head but consider themselves experts. Like I said in the orginal comment, you can't market a foal off its potential that you gather from the way it plays. You market the foal off what its genetics, what its parents performed well in, and what its conformation best suits, but not the way it runs around the field being a normal baby. To see my first comment you can click reply link.
I have been breeding for over 35 years. I have World, National and International champions in various disciplines. I can say that based on looking at the foals from my breeding program of seeing their great grandparents and parents grow up, and what their offspring have done as foals and later on in life -a foal naturally chooses to do in play in my breeding program is indicative of what it will be easier for them to do later on in life.
The foals that are bold and like to perform working cow horse manuevers in play - tend to be easier to train later on in life to do that job. I have bred a foal that cuts llamas better than the working cow dogs. Foals that are timid and are worriers tend to keep that basic personality. Foals that run with their head low tend to grow-up to be horses that do not want to hold a high saddleseat head set; foals that run and play with their heads high in the air tend to not want to be peanut rollers.
Foals that love to run and jump over objects in a new pasture will tend to carry that ability and personality later on and become good eventers. Horses are born with natural abilities and skills just like people, foals do not all play in the same manner just like all kids do not play in the same manner.
Conformation is not solely the best predictor of ability as some of the best record holders in the racing world and show world have faults that should not have let them beat those with better conformation. The heart to try and enjoy doing it, is what helps make a true winner in a discipline.
This filly is named Black Chaytan CTA. She was sold as a weanling. Her new owner showed her as a 4 month old foal at the World Championship show and took several World Championship titles with her competing against older horses. As a yearling she was shown AHA Region IX against older horses and won a Res. Championship.
FYI- According to the dictionary a colt is a young male horse not older than 4 years old. The term foal can be used for either a male or female horse.
No need to be rude.... slang terms are dependent upon what country, how old you are and what ethnic group you are from among other things. Youtube has a worldwide audience, so it becomes more important for communication to be more precise, especially if one is selling a horse to a worldwide audience of varying ages and ethnic groups. People that are wanting to buy a male are not going to be happy if they get a female based on someone's slang terminology.
And you weren't rude to begin with? I am not selling the horse, nor have I repersented the horse in any way... I was stating an opinion about the colt in the video with then issue was brought about...
aweee.. i'm a HUGE fan of paints.. I ove my demon horse yet he's the best thing thats ever happened to me . He's taught me EVRYTHING i know about riding and determination and he made me a better person in the long run.
Yeah.. great to see that foal just play outside.. I had that in 2001.. two foals at the same time.. just playing around.. i could look at them all day:D
Beautiful horses. I own a pinto and a paint, plus 2 palominos, the pinto just turned 4, the paint is now 5. Palominos are both 3. Its funny seeing foals hop around like that at 0:19.
An APHA Paint tobiano Paint = American QH and/or TB descent + some unknown anscestor that had the tobiano gene. Overo Paints are QH crop outs, similar to the sabino color gene in other breeds. Pinto PtHA is a color reg. org. for tobiano, overo/sabino markings, regardless of type as long as no Draft or Appaloosa breeding is present. A APHA Paint can be reg as pinto PtHA, but the opposite is not necessarly true. In this case, both Paint APHA horses and PtHA horses in her pedigree.
A good horse has no colour, no breed, no sex, (almost) no height - it just has heart and personality. Just have a look at my mare - best horse ever ! ;-)
This filly went to the PtHA World Show in June 2007 and at only 4 months old won 2 Reserve World Championship titles and 2 TT World Championship titles competing against all much older horses at her first show! Congratulations to Chaytan and her owner J. Callesto on a job well done.

It's proberbly not the one but at the stable I ride at we have an arabian named Pinto.

Beautifult colt..but you can't assume a horse is going to be good at something just because they are acting like typical babies....
PiggyDog89 2 years ago
I kind of agree, but the description said the foal was a filly.
Shintoga 2 years ago
I am aware that it is a filly..but its still considered proper to refer to either sex as a colt
