It doesn't matter what you compare it to, it's crap. The OC wasn't some kind of cinematic masterpiece, it just just tripe designed to appeal to young women who wanted to kill an hour. It was merely my generation's version of "Beverly Hills 90210" except way more dramatic, and without any kind of educational saving grace(At least "90210" tried to discuss some issues, including AIDS). The sad part is that in my opinion, the show went downhill once the theme song finished. It was what it was.
