@bizzarrogeorge .....He ripped all the blades off the radiator fan due to the viscous fan coupling that sits between the fan and the waterpump drive not having enough time to unlock after starting the engine : Fan still happily spinning at engine speed encountering water = broken blades. Cheers.
Thanks for the editing compliment. At the time I thought I would just 'whack it together'! But it actually took a loooooong time! It was also really the first decently edited vid I've done and was really happy with the result. And Yep, it was a serious pain to go all that way when 1 hour after we left so guys passed that offered a spare to the girls who stayed behind that would fit, but us guys were out of com range. But, that's the way things happen at times! Thanks for viewing.
bahahaha thats weird as we came through about a hour later or something and spoke to the girls and they tld us what was wrong and stuff and we offered them a new fan that we had spare for me dads 45 but they didnt want it!
Yep, sure swore when we heard about you guys later that night!!! I would have thought a wrecker would have been open
somewhere in that area over the holiday period, what with everyone up there breaking their fourbies! We had to go to Warragul to get the fan. The girls said no as they knew we'd get one but were out of contact. Good set of events to argue for getting a sat phone eh?!
Two things were pivotal to the event I think - The viscous fan coupling takes a short time to unlock after the engine is started and Adam started and headed into the water fairly quickly. This notwithstanding, the fan was also non-genuine and about 15 years old so we think it had gone brittle, otherwise it was a textbook river-crossing. The shorty used to be mine and sat in my driveway not moving for a few years before I sold it. Thanks for checking out the vid. Cheers.
Defanetly the brittleness of the pastic. I have a 92 Ranger, one blade of the clutch fan has a crack on its base, it worries me that it might break off at some point, puncture the radiator and tear up the other fan blades.
I think you need to change that fan ASAP. We were seriously lucky that none of the fan bits went into Adam's radiator that morning considering he was in 1st low and giving the engine a bit os stick.
Newb question here. What is the mechanical damage shown at end of video?

He didn't seem to do anything wrong to cause that breakage.

Eh, I dont care about it anymore lol. I'm getting a newer truck possibly tomorrow, so the Ranger's going up for sale.
Yeah ya'll were really lucky, radiators are super easy to damage, no joke about it.
