  • what a waste of time first 5 minutes excited me and the rest was bullshit i gave up in the middle

  • Viva Magna Grecia!!!

  • so is this a true story?

  • what a shit hole of a country. hope america nukes it.

  • They have to use the JGB song!

  • Can Somebody tell me roughly what the story is about?

Oh wait, don't bother, it has non!

man what a waste of my time it was to watch this. Completely plot less.

  • @yousuckhardtime its about reality dude this ain't scarface or godfather

  • @sk8matter what?!?!? godfather was real but i agree scarface wasnt

  • @yousuckhardtime I guess you can appreciate a film that tries to do something different. It did have "multiple" plots with different characters. A movie without a plot is a movie like "Slacker". Please correct yourself.

  • Since when do movies have to even resemble reality? it's a medium that harbours a variety of genres, of which only a handful contain factual events.

  • Questo e una merda!

  • Cuesto e una merda!

  • Der Schriftstelller des Buches steht auf der Todesliste. Muß wohl doch was dran sein.

  • You know what's scary about this movie? It's that we are resuming our lives while these guys are out there killing people off one by one secretly, and it's real. Don't even mess with organized criminals if you value your life.

  • syriana meets city of god in this movie

here in mexico the crime is a part of every single day and i can´t deny this movie and also city of god remind´s me the situation in here

  • @borrachoconpiojos100

Italians are essentially latin. Iberians consitute what are the Greeks-Italians-southern French-and Spaniard-portugual. Some of us reside in Mexico-Costa Rica-Argentina- and in every one of those countries Iberians run the mafias. Chapo Guzman is a good example of an Iberian. Clearly not Mexican or Aztec and or Indian. But an Iberian. We are not caucasian people we are the original people of the earth,

  • @vicosal1 Surely Iberians are from the Iberian peninsula, which constitutes the countries of Spain and Portugal? Do you mean Mediterranean? The Spanish and Portuguese colonised the Americas from the 15th century. I don't understand where France , Italy and Greece come into this. Can you explain?

  • @PBGooner

Iberians from Spain and Portugual are on teh Iberian peninsula but are descendants of a tribe known as IBERIANS---removed from the caucasian/aryan/aramiac and semite of the land. Even in the ancient times Iberians were known as manly and truthful and honorable--which is why those values till hold alot of weight for the Iberians of the diaspora. Frances Corsicans are essentially -Iberians and as well as some of the greeks.

  • Comment removed

  • @PBGooner I also assume he means Mediterraneans, which I would agree are a separate people to the light-skinned Germanic and Celtic Northern Europeans. I guess most would define Mediterraneans as the unique phenotype from the Italian, Iberian, and Balkan (Greek) peninsulas, as well as Southern France, Turkey, most of North Africa, and parts of the Middle East. As an Italian, I have to agree that the Mediterranean people are indeed unique and beautiful.

  • @vicosal1

Semitc ( jewish) Aramiac (Iraqui-Jordanian-Libyan-some egyptians) caucasian ( some Russians-Poles-Czechs-and their descendants in England. Iberian ( spain-southern french-southern Italian and parts of the north-greeks-some mexicans/central americans and other latinos-who had high trace amounts of Spanish Blood due to a lack of mixing amongst Iberians before the 15th century.Iberians are the most gorgeous people on earth.

  • this its the ordinary reality show....for us...every single day...

  • LMFAO! i laughed at the guy in the speedos holding a machine gun XD

  • This movie is so overrated, all the action of this movie is in the trailer,a little slow, this movie could have been better

  • The trailer is better than the movie

  • I watched this movie serveral months ago, and said "WTF is going on?!"

  • Overrated movie, did you like it?

  • @kondurperusix no....the most interseting part was i nthe end when it mentioned something about 9/11

  • is the mexican mobs infiltration through corrupt government and police officials more serious

    threat to mexico's government's survival

or is italian mobs power over the italian govenment more serious? In both cases

it is a very serious problem that only hurt the poor people of each country. also, russia , china, japan have the same serious problem they must deal with.

  • they both have a lot of power and influence in their own countries, but i would say the mexican mafia is more destructive for mexico because mexico is poorer and the drug war there makes things worse for the people.

  • There are a lot of people spouting stereotypical garbage they know nothing about. I guess it's commonplace on youtube, basically always has been. Be wary of those that act like they have all the answers and make sweeping determinations and judgments with unshakable confidence-full of insults. They are the ones who are full of shit.

  • @radjabov44 Whatta Ya Fuckin YODA???

  • i herd this movie is like city of god, is that true?

  • No,city of god is 100000 times better than this movie, all of the action in this movie is already in the trailer, overrated movie,to watch it only once in your lifetime and don't watch it again in the next 100 years

  • the problem is that Gomorrah is true, the guy who wrote the book worked with them for a while, now the mafia is trying to kill him....

  • But this movie is overrated, all the action sequences are already in the trailer, the trailer is better than the movie itself

  • since when was the mafia all about guns and blood? anyways... I still havn't watched it as im in the middle of watching Boss of Bosses, a good T.V flick.

Plus, city of god is more of a street gangster flick then a "true" life "mafia story." I mean, comparing the two is a bad comparision.

  • Watch this movie ,ok??? city of god shows how vilence is in brazil

  • Yes, the last time I checked, brazil is not in italy, nor is it the other way around. Again, comparing street gangsters from brazil, to the mafia in italy is a bad comparision.

City of God was a good movie, very good infact. But I highly doubt the streets are like that, in ghetto's yes... but not the rest of brazil.

Please don't glamorize terror... It's not cool. Saying brazil is all like that is a desgrace. "City of God had more gor and deaths" I mean seriously...

    There just movies.

  • I said city of god is a great movie, not "street violence" is cool, and watch this movie to realize how overrated this movie is

  • I didn't even know it was ever made till I googled around for some mob movies. So I just heard of it in the U.K... Will just have to find out.

  • the camorra is a different style criminal organization than the mafia ..... the mafia wich comes mostly from sicily is tightly organized rather than the camorra wich comes from the streets of the ghettos of naples are a bunch of different clans battling in the streets and scampias over drug territories ....... the camorra just like the mafia make millions in money but the camorra is more violent and are wayy less organized

  • the albanians are some ruthless crazy fucks and they are gangster... But there only one Mafia!!! ITALIA ALL DAY/ NEAPOLITAN PRIDE!!!

  • Crime is nothing to be proud of, junior.

  • But I always bring up to people, they are so religious but yet contradict there own faith with corruption. I guess the Roman Catholic faith isn't all you think it is. And this is where it all happened. Just take Rome and the Pope. Makes you wonder why? And what is believing in a religion that is so corrupt even on the inside going to teach the future here in Naples, Italy?

  • I live here in Naples, Italy and I have seen men chilling in daylight in there underwear fishing in the water downtown Naples! Yeah, it is very corrupted here. We once were driving down the road and a man got shot in daylight as well. The land is beautiful, but between the pollution of trash burning because of the Mafia, crime from the Mafia, it is really just Naples that is so trashy.

  • hey man, i alwayas wnted to ask an italian , how much of these scenes are real , how much exaggrated for the sake of audience.

do these gang bangs happen in daylight & so obvious in city life in front of people?

i thought sicily was the center of violence

how is albanian mafia? rival for italian mafia?

  • This is all loosely based on real life. In fact, look up "Mafia shooting caught on CCTV." Happens all the time in certain areas, people just ignore it.

  • The Albanian mafia are absolutely subhuman and we should have bombed them instead of Serbia.

  • i don't think they are rivals, they for sure have some connections.

However, these scenes is what happens everyday in those places, and maybe it is thougher in real life.

  • take it easy gangsters

  • i love the trailer. the only part that i hated was the kid blowing blowing a ship with AK 47 while hes in underwear. what the fuck?

  • toulix- its not fiction. They are not Morons. I grew up in Naples. You don't know what you are talking about. Were you educated in a garbage can? shove it.

  • If you grew up in Naples, then why don't you crawl back to your self-enamored dumpster. As a kid, I used to disagree with my Florenz paternal friends who disparaged Naples -- boy was I wrong.

If certain projection of events are similar to what the reality offers, then it's merely coincidental. The movie is fiction.

  • did you really think you could hide? lol.

  • This movie is fiction you morons.

  • its actually not man. the stories from the movie and the book written by roberto saviano are all based on true stories. and even if it was fiction, this stuff actually happens and the camorra actually does this shit. trust i ve been to naples and i passed through scampia. its pretty fukin scary

  • Where do you get that idea? I'm in a military family, and I lived 3 years in Casal di Principe, one of the mafia controlled areas of Naples. Our landlords were even related to one of the mafia families there. Nothing ever flared up while I lived there, but a lot of the stuff that happened in the book was just 5 minutes down the road from where I lived.

  • Just because some events might be related to some aspects of certain society, it does not make the entire movie base on a true story. There are many movies which portrait an everyday event but may or may not be base on somebody's exact real life story.

  • Dude, you're totally right. Sorry I didn't really clarify that well earlier on. What I meant to say was that while it may be fiction, many events similar to those in the movie truly did happen. Basically, much of the corruption and crime potrayed in the film is a very real issue in the Naples area. Sorry for not being clear earlier

  • This movie is about "Camorra" nothing to do with "Mafia". In Italy there are several criminal organizations.....

  • @cattivogusto are you retarded. It has everything to do with the mafia. There are a number of different mafia's from different areas. The cosa nostra is just the one everyone outside of italy is familiar with. It's a regional thing. The camorra is far and away the biggest mafia in Italy.

  • dying to see it. it's always rented out at the local Blockbuster. gotta Netflix it ASAP.

  • You dont know where they're, you dont know where mafia is, but it's all around you, in all countries, towns, everywhere, you're not sure because if they dont kill you they kill the economy of your country, pay attention...

  • what is the trailer's song???

  • massive attack-hercolaneum

  • Just stopping in to share National Sunday Law by

    A. Jan Marcussen=)

  • Italy seems like a third world country. Notice the similarities between this movie and "City of God".

  • i was thinking the exact same thing. who knew naples was such a dangerous place haha im still thinking City of God is alittle bit more so than this film

  • Terrible spelling has also gotten out of control

  • That's just horrible. Corruption has gone so far... Like a dicease.

  • The trailer is fucking amazing

  • o my god beautiful

  • this movie is about Camorra which in my opinion has absolutley nothing to do with the real mafia(the sicillian mafia) there is no difference between Camorra and some punks from harlem,on the other case, the Cosa Nostra ,people fighting for honour and to protect their famillies, mafia is not all about crimes and violence,is about respect and honour

  • mafia is mostly about extortion

  • That's bullshit. Hollywood movies are not the reality. This movie is based on a journalistic-book, there's no novel, all is taken from real stories. Mafia and other criminal organization is not a movie, has nothing to do with cool gangster. It's all about crimes and violence. If you see honour in killing people, or just beaten up people, that's your problem.

People die because of Mafia, Camorra, 'ndrangheta and Sacra Corona Unita. Almost Every day.

  • what I'm trying to say is that it wasn't allways like this,Mafia was created as an underground organization to protect the Italian people from the foreigners that were invading the country back then, this word was only related with bad things when italian people ran to US in search of a better living, and then they became so powerfull that they had the hole country probably the hole world at their feet, and if it wasn't for Mario Puzo we wouldn't had no clue how things work in a mafia family...

  • And u can bet that America is still ruled by the Mafia, what they eat,wat they wear, what they drive,it's all controled by the mafia...PS: Cosa Nostra is not only a Hollywood movie...the first ever don in America was Don Giuseppe "Battista" Balsamo, the first ever "Capo di tutti capi" was "Lucky" Luciano(born Salvatore Lucania),and I can go on and on teaching u a litte something about mafia but...that's more than u need to know

  • the whole world at their feet? listen to yourself

  • are you kidding?

Mario Puzo romanticized the mafia in the godfather, and he only wrote it because he wanted to make money not '' to tell how the mafia works'' like he would know. He was just a writer who got lucky.

  • the godfather is a stupid fiction movie. gangstars has no respect and that movie present them as good respected people. in real life they are not like that at all. they are currupt scums. i love movies like casino, goodfalles. or the sopranos who show how mobsters really are

  • @depressedaemon SO WHAT.. People DIE everyday!! Who gives a fuck??

  • that's what all gangs say. wise up.

  • mafia is about making money you douch beg. theres no honor in any of those groups. just for you know. the godfather is bullshit

  • This trailer pretty much just shows almost every key scene in the movie.

  • i can't believe how much of the story this trailer fucking spoils.

  • i met a girl from naples once during my english class and asked her about the mafia and she said that those porblems are everywhere..true. but she was so damn hot and didnt look like she lived there or was from there..girl if you read this post a message so we can meet baby.i love naples chicks..

  • However, I wanted to explain that the political situation in italy is dramatic, the government hides much of what goes on inside the state, controlling all the media (thanks to Berlusconi, the Italian prime minister and billionaire tycoon owner of almost all media) hiding people the mafia and political intrigue that still exist in our beautiful country .....is a shit guys!

  • Tumeface, im german but u explained the facts quiet understandable.

hope the kids dont see this as an invitation to the gomorrah. if everybody out there knew how important mafias are for the police/government - u would go on the streets and protest. but its kept secret.

  • this is the real street life in italy.....in the south of italy...Camorra is different to Mafia.....it's a gangs war.....not like the godfather...the godfather is the sicilian mafia( cosa nostra)....in napoli is different....but i dont speak english very well and the situation in italy its too complicated for me tell you about that...understand? XD

  • Your english is better than you probably think.

  • thanks a lot! XD

  • Id actually like to hear your thoughts on the situation in napoli, Ill try and translate what you say lol

  • the situation in italy is coplicated, italy is divided into regions each of which has its own dialects, habits, etc..as I made it north of italy, I need subtitles to understand what this film is called ..like u!is prevalent in the south where the Mafia, and where it was born here ... in the north (Milan, Venice, etc..) the situation is totally different, the stereotypes have you Italians abroad are based on lifestyle southern Italian non-Nordic. .. understand??

  • Yeah I understand, thanks for the reply, you never hear about stuff like that over here

  • who we sell them in so far .... just say what they want and what they consider beneficial to their own interests .. and is known as a lot of people believe only what he sees on television or in the newspaper ...

  • the point is that foreign ppl don't understand this movie, and it's the reason why it didn't win everything it could. It's not a movie, it's kinda a documentary. Short stories of real life go on showing many aspects of Camorra empire in Naples and province. You don't have to watch it expecting a "movie", it's like a documentary without being explained.

  • I saw it, and it sent a very strong message and I thought it was captivating.

However, as a movie, I wasn't the biggest fan. Yes it was strong, but there was no plot or story. The character development wasn't very good. It's almost like I didn't really care what happened to any of the characters. You didn't get attached to any of them. But all in all, a decent flick.

  • if they juts got jobs they would all have a wonderful life and the streets would be clean and safe.

  • i can't WAIT to watch it!!!!!!

    nn vedo l'ora di vederloooooooooo!!!!!!

  • At the end its a Family tree only the roaches are the ones getting stepped on and by the way someone has to see what comes up the cracks!!!! Deuce ...

  • An old mafioso once said when interviewed why will GOVERNMENTS be involved ???? Because that is where the money is at !!!!!!! Deuce

  • Watching National Geographic about the mafia is much better.... true there is no glamor but this movie is not groundbreaking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Me encantan estas películas románticas

  • exactly..i agree!

  • I don't think there is such a thing anymore as italian, albanian, russian mafia...i think it's all one big business. italians import cocaine into europe, russians sell them the weapons, albanians provide them with prostitues. this is what i think.

  • how do you Italians think now: Who are the real mafioses Albanians or Italians???

  • there is no difference

  • albanians just are street ciminals..they go drunk e they are violent with womans..they steal etc..italians mafia is like a multinacional spa..move millions of euros and it works not only in italy but in all europe

  • all europe?!?!?.....all the world.

  • @ eliojaupi1 wait r u sayin that these guys r albanian?? cause if u r they re not. they might sound like albanians but they re speaking a neapolitan dialect. these guys belong to da camorra which is from and based in naples

  • You guys are missing the point of this movie. This is not intended to be Hollywood bullshit. This is more of a documentary intended to show you reality, some of the things that really happen in and round Naples. Actually this is a reflection of the dark side of southern italy. It's the same shit in puglia, calabria and sicily.

  • yeah, in a sense the trailer can give the impression of much more action in the movie but im not disappointed. one of the only movies ive seen where there was no love interest. the directing and editing was perfect. you have that uneasy, unpredictable feeling throughout the whole film.

  • Excellent, but not a typical gangster movie.

If you have a short attention span, or lack patience, or think (as do two of the film's dimmer protagonists) that Scarface is a great movie, you will miss the point(s) of this film. See it in a theatre-- big screen and good sound will immerse you in the amazing visuals.

  • Apparently it's On Demand in the U.S. now. I'm going to watch it tonight. It's also in select theaters so check the major cities around you.

  • i want 2 see this movie!

  • Saw this movie on Blu-ray. I had to import from UK.

Anyway, its hella boring. At roughly 2 hours and 15 minutes you'd think they'd show something a little more compelling.

The "action" shooting/murder/death is separated by 30 minute stretches of people talking gibberish Italian.

Definitely pass on this one. If you're expecting the Godfather for 2009 this ain't it.

  • After 30 mins i was saying the same ,but the different characters stories, all fall into place. Its not Goodfellas, but id give it 7 out of 10

  • la linguetta e gli occhi, sono i corrupters allineare dell'anima

  • i got this on dvd £15 in Hmv

  • Cocksucking blockbuster video doesnt carry it. what the fuckkkkkkkk

  • Its not out yet in North America. Its just opened in the U.S and canada. It came out in Canada last week so ye. Europeans are so lucky. I;ve been waiting for a year for this shit. :(

  • im seeing at in this small theatre over here. the big ones arent carrying it. But shit its gonna be a nice birthday treat.

  • lol my birthday is april 8th imma gonna watch it next week too. Well early hbday

  • well mines the 8th

    thats some weird shit

  • ... lol wow how old are you if you say 17 that would be even more odd

  • no man gonna be 26, thats some scary shit too. im closer to 30 then 20 now.

  • many people doesn't know that many clans of camorra are linked to sicilian mafia and the opposite too. di lauro clan, 4 example, is linked to lo piccolo clan in palermo. many times camorra and sicilian mafia making a ''joint venture'' for drug traffic and many other business...camorra has about 7000 members and 90.000 associates...a real army!!!

  • the Camorra was born in xvii centuty and is different to the sicilian mafia because his structure is ''horizontal''. camorra is one of the most powerful and dangerous mafia in europe ,it is involved in many traffic: drug, racket, money laudering, prostitution and in the campania region many local politics are involved in the camorra business (today a regional politic ''roberto conte'' was arrested). in the last 30 years only in the province of naples there was been about 4000 dead for camorra.

  • Has anyone here read the book?

  • course

  • anyway the Sicilian mafia is Cosa Nostra, and mafia is not a unique Italian phenomenon, almost every region in the world has their own crime organization, commonly called mafia;)

  • WORST TRAILER EVER!!!!!!!! good movie though. Terrible trailer. If you seen the movie you know what i mean.

  • They should have called the movie "Washington DC".

  • Are these people in the Mafia? I always thought the Mafia was from Sicily.

  • are two different organizations

  • there from a group called the Cammorra. I read that there supposedly bigger than the mafia and earn more money.

  • nah man. the camorra is nothing compared to the sicilian mafia. the mafia makes 2 billion dollars a year just in extorsion. the mafia is also way bigger with headquarters spreading all around the world. im not sayin they dont make money but the mafia can buy out the camorra. at the end of this movie theres sum statistics and it says that 1 camorra clan makes 500 000 euros a day just in drug dealing

  • Mafia is "bigger", Camorra is the most violent=a lot of murders more

  • no these guys r in the Camorra which is from naples. the Mafia is from sicily and then theres the Ndragheta which is from calabria

  • mafia is from sicily, camorra is from campania (Naples is the capital), ndrangheta is from calabria, sacra corona unita is from Apulia, Basilischi is from Basilicata... all these organizations are called commonly "mafia" but here in Italy as u can see every southern region s got her own mafia.

  • yea sorry i meant campania. but the sacra corona unita is from Puglie not Apulia lol

  • no shit did they want to imagine all that shit

  • But I LOVE .... Laura Pausini !!!!

  • i saw the movie... I fell asleep!!! It starts off with a murder... then another murder... then another murder...then at the end...another murder and in between its street level stuff!!!

  • more than a film, Gomorrah is a documentary that is why it is rather boring ... but it's all real

  • Comment removed

  • oh i no y u ignored them. cause they never fukin asked. i dont deny that u saw body guards in little italy. ive been to little italy and i used to live in chicago so i no how it is. oh and 1 more think. this movie was filmed in scampia a suburb of naples and its no gang shit. its mafia shit. look at the other previous comments i posted on the second page

  • And I thought the estates round my way were a bit rough.

  • normally when you say "mafia" i think international sophisticated criminal organizations that are clandestine in nature. this movie reminded me of the blatant street gangs of central america, where nothing is "Clandestine" murder and street shootings are common place. this move might have as well taken place in el salvador with the mara salvatruca- its not what you would typically think of as "mafia" its more like gangs.

  • but your concept of "mafia" is unrealistically romanticized

  • i dont know what i said in my comment that gave you the impression that i "romanticized" the mafia. i have actually have some first hand experience with both italian and russian mafias. nothing impressive though lol- with regards to the italians i just saw a 4 or 5 gaurds standing outside a closed restaurant in little italy. with regards to russians, well i was almost recruited into russian oc, but i ignored the offer. plus i have been around enough russian nightclubs to see alot of them.

  • (continued) its actually funny that you talk about romanticizing, because this one russian night club i was at was filled with well dressed killers- and the club itself looked like a miniature tsars palace, the whole time i was there i was thinking "martin scorsese should make his next film here" lol. it seriously looked like it came straight out of a typical mafia film

  • howhever this movie shows facts about the lowest classes of the camorra organization, it's clear that the bosses live in another way, are well dressed and full of money, I can advise u to look for "La villa di walterino schiavone" here on youtube, the video shows a palace built for a boss that's just like the villa of tony montana in the movie "scarface".

  • oh yea i heard bout that. hes a big time camorra boss and he got locked up last year. that suks.

  • why does it 'suk' that he got locked up?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SHUT THE FUCK UP U LITTLE WHITEY!!! do u actually think that we re gona buy ur bull shit of u being recruited into the russian mafia?? hahaha u fukin degenerate white ass prick motherfucker u! im 100% italian and my uncle actually went to jail for conspiracy charges in italy in a max security prison full of mobsters who said that in every legit mafia if u get recruited and u turn them down u get killed cause u might snitch on them. and y would u turn it down fukr

  • Italians are white.

  • Not really. I'm Italian and I'm olive-brownish. Besides, we were the second most lynched group in America.

  • second most. for what reason?

  • Various reasons. Swarthy Catholic Southern Europeans that arrive in America in large numbers without money and in search of American jobs are not going to be treated warmly by White Anglo-Saxon Protestant America. They were viewed as the "missing link" between whites and blacks... lowlife, superstitious, drunk Catholic gangsters with stiletto knives and organ grinders.

  • i didn't know they had such hostility even towards europeans. i actually saw a movie about 19th america and lynching and killing some italians in the streets. dont remember the name.

funny thing is "america" is derived from an italian explorer.

btw now this country is filled with millions of swarthier mexicans! ahahha

  • Yeah, pretty ironic, right. And you're right, the Mexicans are going through a similar thing now. But in a way they're lucky that they're coming now, when it's no longer acceptable to lynch people.

  • why would i turn down being a gangster? 1 the gangster was from philly and i live in new york- if i take a job like that i am on call 24-7, and would have to come down all the way from NY to philly just to do their business. 2 i am russian american and dont speak russian, therefore it would be retarded for me to join a gang of russian speaking immigrants- i would be out of the loop. 3 i am training for green berets in the U.S. army and organized crime would fuck my chances up at that.
