this is real songwriting if you ask me. Meatloaf has been blessed to sing amazing songs and this is one of the best; his songs blend the music story in harmonic perfection to the classical music to his rock voice. It is the perfect juxtaposition which is what makes this guy an icon.

This is the only Meatloaf album I can say I enjoy. Oddly enough it's my favourite album (in it's entirety) of all time. Everything from the songs, the lyrics, the arrangements right down to the EPIC cover art. Listening to it instantly takes me back to a time when everything was better, this era was truly amazing and anyone who wasn't around for the 70's can't possibly understand. The amazing thing about this song is that it can be played to win someone's heart, or honour someone's life.

Someone needs to punch either Todd Rundgren or Roy Bittan in the nose for this. Todd used some of the E Streeters as the backing band on purpose, and it is very obvious here. Notice how Roy continually hits at "Thunder Road" through out, but never quite carries though with it. It is really noticeable at the end.
