  • Did he just say Yuengling? LOL

  • This side reached #7 in December 1949 -- just as the other side, "I Yust Go Nuts At Chrsitmas," peaked at #5. The single, needless to say, sold a million. "Yogi" -- whose real name was Harry Stewart -- died in an auto crash in 1956.

  • I have the same song on a 45 rpm record with I yust go nuts at Christmas

  • @monarch1957 Very cool! The same flip side is posted here also.

  • Hey, what is that font on the title screen called? That's the font for Yellow Submarine!

  • @TheBeatleManiac101 It's called Asimov, as in Isaac Asimov.

  • Forwarding this as a Christmas greeting to all sorts of people. Forgot about this one since last year. It's a fave. My long underwear is still in the closet. My horse is still in the stable.Y rocks!!!

  • Sound like wally walrus is singing this

  • @althazarr :D

  • Oh thank you!!! I've been looking for this for years!! My grandmother was from Sweden and Yogi's songs were a staple at her house when I was growing up. We had the 78s, but I have not idea where they ended up. I'm so completely surprised that I still remember all the words!! You've given me the best Christmas present ever!! Kisses!!

  • @TanasGal You're very welcome! Thank you for tuning in. I've got lots of Christmas songs to share on both of my channels, and I'm glad you can now enjoy this one again. :-)

  • I just heard this for the first time on Sirius Holiday Traditions and just knew I'd find it on YouTube and I did! Thanks for sharing!

  • This was my favorite Christmas song while growing up. Thank you so much.

  • @matthewsgma Thanks for tuning in. I've got lots more Christmas songs posted from the early 1900's to the late 1950's. I hope you'll find some others you'll like too. Merry Christmas!

  • Just heard this one for the first time last Thursday! Damn this is good!!! :D

  • Heard this on Sirius XM, their 40's channel is playing older, obscure Christmas stuff. I'm glad you posted this and included the lyrics. Thanks!

"I must have lost her when we turned at Yohnson's place... " Aha! we now have an explanation for how Grandma got run over by a reindeer!

  • As a proud grandson of a Norwegian immigrant, I love what you did! My grandpa loved this. Thank you very much, and Merry Christmas!

  • @PetePuma00 My grandfather was also from Norway. Unfortunately, I never got to meet him. I'm glad you and your grandfather like this. Merry Christmas!!

  • Took me forever to figure out who sang this song. My dad had it dubed to a tape of Christmas songs when I was little. Always loved it!

  • Thanks for posting this! "Brass Monkeys" is a very old idiom - try 17th Century.

  • Is this where the Beastie Boys got the idea for BRASS MONKEY????

  • Ha ha ha, mabye so.

  • When I was a little pest, I enjoyed visiting my Swedish grandma and playing this record. Someone must have given it to to her as a joke--soon the record "disappeared" and no one would tell me where it had gone.

Even with glögg, there is just so much "ethnic" humor that an ethnic can stand. I think I wore grandma's patience out. No need to remind her about silly Swedish people with their silly Swedish accents--she lived it every day.

God Jul Farmor, wherever you are.

  • UFDAH! Vas ist dis ? Poor Ole and Lena vill frees. Dey vill haf to yump der yimineys

  • This is TOO COOL! ILOVE IT! Thank You So Much For Sharing This With Me. & Merry Christmas!!!!

  • Thank you, Lots more christmas tunes to come. Merry Christmas to you!

  • l like it!Reminds me of the musical numbers the Two Ronnies did on TV.

  • I'm not familiar with that, but I'll see if I can find it. It must be pretty funny too. Thanks for your comment. :-)

  • Yingle Bells! Yelly Yischmisch!! (Merry Christmas)!

  • Funny song!

  • now that's a funny Christmas song, all right. Dr. Demento used to play that at Christmas, but it sounds like you have a vintage platter of it. now that's a Christmas platter that matters. well done.

  • "Yogi" also provided the voice of "Wally Walrus" in Walter Lantz's Woody Woodpecker cartoons.

  • Cool, I didn't know that. Woody Woodpecker is one of my favorite cartoons. I've not seen any of those in years.

  • Very nice.

    Thanks for sharing.

    5 stars.

  • I'm glad you like it. Thanks for your comment.

  • I can't believe you posted this _today_! I was thinking about this song earlier today. I've been on the lookout for it for over 20 years. I had heard about it but had never found a recording before tonight.

    Thanks! (or Tackar saa mycket!)

  • I'm glad I had this one for you to enjoy. Thanks for your comment.

  • I've got their Christmas LP that sports the most wonderfully horrible cover photo. I'll have to share it with you soon. Stan is still active. He has his own website.

  • Cool, I'd like to see that cover. I'm sure it's quite interesting. I'll have to check out that site. Thanks for the info. Mark. I certainly appreciate it.

  • I just realized... that I'm one of those confused you mentioned... I was making my video of the LP today and reread your info and... the guy I'm talking about is Stan Boreson. What made me more confused is Stan does Yingle Bells... and I didn't noticed the difference... Hope you didn't spend too much time looking for poor Yogi! I still have a wacky LP cover to share...

  • ...Sounds like I'm dreaming I'm stuck at some 'foreign skating rink!'

    ---Ha ha! :0)

  • He's got jokes. lol Definitely a different holiday record. :-)

  • LoL :) Love it hahahaa...5*****

  • Thank you, I'm glad you like it! :-)
