@cr125k2f why bash a 4x4 made for offroad use? I personally dont care for some 4x4 companies but would rather see a 4x4 SUV/Truck made for offroading than a riced civic
@ThatBoyBoogie Actually, it makes perfect sense. What he should have done was this.. "How To: Off Road Light Install". Next time, don't be such a smart ass.
hi i have a question. i have an fj cruiser 2011 and i tried removing the outside panel but i cant can you please explain how to remove the panel so i can get my wires through it. I already removed the inner panel but the outside panel seems pretty tough to get out is there a screww or are there just pins pls help ty. nice vid by the way.
@LARC448 Thanks for the note and glad you like our videos. Follow the link in the description. You will find a number of resources that should help you with that pillar panel.
@SuperTrackstar22 We're not familiar with the panels and covers of a Wramger so not sure the best way to install lights on that rig. Hopefully someone else will chime in with some help for you.
@harrygutterballs kind of depends on the rig... of course a lot of folks opt to go through the roof and run the harness wires in the head line. In fact that is how Toyota recommends for the factory roof lights installed by dealers.
@Fjsouth only mount the number you want... The amount of light thrown out in front will be less obviously. LED lights are nice since their electrical draw is so small for the amount of light they produce.
@GCJeepDriver09 That rack was from Tuffy. Check trdparts4u (dot) com... but the big lights were more than it could really handle and we now use one from Baja Designs. Take a look through our website for more pictures and info.
i would love to get lighting like this on my ford ranger but am to scared to do it myself cause knowing me id screw up D: haha how much would it cost to take it somwhere and get it done?
@walkingfreak Yup :-) LaPaz 9" HID lights from Baja Designs. Check our website for some of the night runs we did with these lights. Planes divert when we through the switch on :-)
@cantbuyrespect sounds like the wire is not the correct gauge for current going through it (can result from the wrong size or a short pulling too much power through). powerstream (dot) com shows the max current for the wire. Also look at the wiring diagram at lastgreatroadtrip (dot) com /off-road-adventure-accessories/not-your-mothers-headlights on adding a relay to your system. Good luck to you.
oh and i have a pair of hellas 55 watt driving lights for my front guard there all hooked up and working great but with the addition of the 300 watts of off road lighting do u think i should add a relay to them?
@youdragon Set your switch up on a relay. This is a simple addition and offers an extra level of safety. Check out our website for a wiring diagram. Go to our web site sitemap at lastgreatroadtrip(dot)com and look for "Not Your Mother’s Headlights". You will find a simple wiring diagram that shows how to set up your light harness.
good luck on your build and let us know how it turns out.
@lastgreatroadtrip yea i have a 40amp relay and a 30amp fuse to wire with, and i should be wireing them up sometime in the next 2-3 weeks along with a pair of 55watt cargo lights
i plan on buying a 4x4 fj here within the next month and doing some off roading and trail riding so what do you are you happy with your fj? and do you recommend these or normal kc lights? and what brush gaurd you got on? thank you.
The best advice I can give you is to find an active Audi A6 on-line forum where members post up how they have modified their cars. The FJ Cruiser community is very strong and everyone provides a lot of help and support. Hopefully you will find a good Audi forum where you can get specifics on installing lights on an A6. As for the lights, Baja Design lights are a great choice. Good luck to you.
you will be fine as long as you dont sit and idle with the lights on too long. ...if your still worried you can look up adding another alt to your truck its pretty simple
Hey I have a new 08 Fj Trails Team Edition and I want to but on some lights I have found a mounting rack but I am wondering what lights to use and whether or not to do it through my local Toyota Dealer. And I am also wondering if I could buy lights through Toyota. What do you think is the best way to go about thus.
Congrats on the FJ TT. Toyota dealers sell light off road lights for both roof rack and bumper mount. They will tie them into you FJC using the original fuse/relay box.
A shop will many more options for lights and most likely wire your lights using a custom wire harness that does not use your rig's electrical panel.
Both options are fine it just depends on what your goal is. For more information see our website.
Put up a video of a walkaround I want to see how it looks with those awesome offroad lights installed
