Guard Boost (Guard Up) is needed to block the big ball lightning storm and that arena set doesn't have it, so you kinda failed by trying to block but at least it clearly showed 7:45 that it can't normally be blocked.

Other attacks that require Guard Boost are Agna's solar beam, Gobul's whirlpool (although, how does that even work, you're in the water holding the shield against a pulling current? :p), Gigginox' poisoned belly flop, Uragaan's sleepy gas Caedeus' hydro cannon and Ala's fireball.

Btw when he does the super electric attack the trick is to go in very close,block the electric charge on his body and the flashes won't be near you.Since you blocked the first charge the rest of that little field won't hurt you.

during the sea power event quest me and friends were playing and they saw the lagi starting to do his super electrical attack but i didnt and all of sudden the water was engulfed in electricity and i was like "crap im gonna die" but somehow it didnt hit me and i was right above him

A note about Lagia's curling attack (2:52); press up against its left forearm and you should be safe. It will push you without actually hitting you, giving time for free shots.

@splosh560 check the monster hunter tri wiki. there should be several links to world records. click on the slowest one(or fastest) and try to imitate their technique. thats what i did and i went from 22 minutes to 10 minutes for barroth arena quest

does the shield advance remove the small amount of damage you take even while blicking some attacks. also does it increase your recovery time so you can turn around and block his second hup check that always seems to catch me from behind. I usually use guard +2 so I dont have this problem but its not available in arena mode.

One of my favorite items to use while in water combat is the bounce bomb, under water it flies straight forward like a torpedo. Excellent for long range.

I beet lagi with Anata boneblade once and im scared to do it again. (inoo, im a pussy :p) but i can go offense or defence. Rampart + or yellow crater? rampart has defence bonus but yellow crater has the affinity bonus. same attach though

@rynofizzy If I'm not mistaken, you can make the Tusk lance from Rampart+ which upgrades into one of the best lances, the Sabertooth (G). There is really no reason to use the Crystal weapons (Which is what Crater is) because they get terribly outclassed once you hit high rank. Also, when presented with the option, always pick Red over Yellow and Blue, and Purple, over Green. Affinity is hardly ever considerable unless you look at Sabertooth which has 50% affinity.

@rynofizzy Oh hang, I made a mistake in my last comment. Don't make Rampart+ yet, upgrade the regular Rampart to the Tusk lance. If you already made it, at least you can go for the Elder Babel Spear if you have Awaken.

I have made all Arena quests in offline with every weapon except bowgun in S- rank, but i didnt get anything rare from that, some people say that the hunterking coins only can be obtained online, and some say that you have a chance of getting them offline too, who´s right then?

2. what keyboard do you use when hunting offline? and do you recommend it. (I have a Keyboard but it doesnt work with wii) /Thnks

@steff123ism Hunter King coins can only be obtained online. I've never heard of them being able to be obtained offline.

I literally can't use lance, I tried like nine times, even with Rathian Armor + I failed a great jaggi offline, yet with the switch ax I can kill almost anything. Maybe I need to work on that..

@YodaAwesome There certainly is. The first hit to a monster while sleeping does 3x normal damage. This means if you set off your LBB+ properly (poke it from far away), it'll do 450 damage rather than 150 (more of course if you have bombardier).

Also, Lagiacrus is somewhat more resistant to paralysis. I think you'll do more damage with the sleep bombing :)

i have a long sword and it's the one made from dragonite and shell shockers so it deals TH damage and I have to capture him and it's hard to fight with it underwater. should I just spam the spirit gauge on him?

@Ryutouchdown I either use the hammer or lance underwater. Only use the spirit gauge if he's stunned or shooting lightning in the wrong direction. Also he doesn't take any damage from thunder, you should try to make the fire sword instead

@MrScotty82 The first hit and final hit of the charge do decent damage. The lance they give you here has terrible sharpness, so you need to be careful to do only stronger hits. I mostly use it to move around.

@MrScotty82 Probably. If you absolutely must break Lagiacrus's horns, bring a hammer. I used a red bludgeon offline and broke his horns every time.

I find that the hammer works best in underwater situations. I started using the hammer when I saw your hammer vid. At first I was just going to try it just so i could say i tried all the weapons in the game. But after the first fight i fell in the love with the hammer. I've gotten almost all the elemental hammers out there and I have to say the hammer rocks. Sadly my lances have taken a back seat to them.

@LPersBane Yeah, for anyone having trouble getting lag horns, hammer is the best. It's no problem hitting his head with the super pound. What armor set do you use? I farmed up a Lagia set in no time with the Baggi armor, the focus really helped!

@SocialDissonance Well i'm working on getting my + armor now online. But whenever i fight a monster that isn't fire based i always use my Lagi armor. Especially since all of my hammers have an elemental quality to it. And thanks to the Lagi armor the element power is increased by quite a bit. And yeah I had no problem farming Lagi with a hammer. I find the little hammer twirl thing in the water is super affective against him. You just have to be careful of when you use it.
