  • look up the meissner effect

  • Hey gravity....

    u mad?

  • Problem, gravity?

  • Such strong magnetic fields are used for example in magnetic resonance, for research with strong magnetic fields and particle accelerators as the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.

  • awsome

  • show

  • gasp! HES A WITCH BURN THE WITCH BBBUUURRRNNN

  • I don't understand why it must be liquid hydrogen !!!!!!

What if we put the superconducting disk in a freezer ??? Maybe a slow freeze won't do a "perfect diamagnetism" ....

Magnetism and electromagnetism are just so complicated to explain !!!!

  • @supermecis unless your freezer reaches 4 Kelvin, it won't work. The disk is super-conductive because of the temperature it is at. If your freezer can do that on the other hand, I am super jealous... you must have some cold beer :P

  • @olanmatt it is possible to reach a superconductive state over 100K with some superoxsides (superoxides was just a guess, I don't know the english name for it).

  • the big thing is a superconducter which is -60 degrees celcius so if you get a magnet a balance above the superconducter until the superconducter warms up then the magnet will just fall if you want to see a better exaple of this theory look at the maglev train

  • you r so fake u have a smaller penis than1 mm

  • Is it pyrolytic graphite?

  • THATS REAL, you just need a superconductor and freeze it to -166º with liquid nitrogen

  • simply WOW

  • this is fake.... bomb squad uses liquid nitrogen to disarm bombs because when you super cool an electrical circuit it stops electron flow and the bomb cannot detonate... thats the same reason people have trouble starting their cars in the winter time no current flow from the battery. if you are using an electromagnetic material it would become less conductive in the cold. if it did become more conductive it would not levitate perfactly over the conductor.. magnetic fields dont work like that

  • @xtramedium02 Did you read the title? ITS CALLED A SUPERCONDUCTOR!!!! You take a magnet and make it go below 70 k (easily achievable with liquid nitrogen) and it becomes a superconductor. Magnets levitate above superconductors. Also, an electric current going through a superconductor never dissipates. Somebody is a retard.

  • @Stewey1000 “It’s”.

  • @xtramedium02 The cooler you get a PC the faster you can overclock it. Only point where it stops working is when you approach absolute zero when everything stops working. And im not sure why bomb squads would have it, if you froze the power source (since as you point out batteries dont like cold) it may stop it detonating, but doubtful. The reason batteries dont work in the cold is due to speed of chemical reaction which IS slowed by cold.

  • Comment removed

  • @nowhereusa Freezing a bomb works, but generally, a bomb squad will just clear the area and make a controlled detonation. when they do, though, they freeze the whole thing. Incendiary, blasting caps, electical gedunk. No current between the blasting caps and the incendiary means no boom. Terror failboat.

  • Where do you but superconducting ceramics?

  • i have the same magnets as those are those ones 5mm by 5mm

  • a thought that i have is: is it possible to make, lets say.. an aircraft of sorts (at least a part of it), to superconduct in a controlled/variable state so that this very planet would be controlled "gravitation-wise" for this vessel, giving small means of energy to move across the planet?

  • @niclasborg73 Or even to other planets.. =)

  • @niclasborg73: I have absolutely no idea what you are poroposing. If you mean levitate the plane from the earth with superconductors, it won't work. The 'strength' of the magnetic field is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the magnet. ie the field strength drops off proportional to 1 / r^2, where r is the distance. In laymans terms this means if you go a little bit further away then the strength drops a lot. You would need an impossibly strong magnet to hold up a plane.

  • excellent

  • exellent.

  • what metal is the black thing?

and what is necesary to do this besides the magnet and the liquid nitrogen?

    some1 answer please

  • @Antardrews the black thing is a superconducting disk. all you need is those 3 things

  • @MRfattykins thank you. Ill try to get it and then build my superconductor.

    Thanks

  • @Antardrews I think it's quite expensive to get the material you need to make this experiment work. I mean liquid nitrogene and the superconducter ceramic is also rather expensive. Good luck with it though!

  • @thevenomous1 Thank you very much! Ill try to make it work, altough its hard to get these materials. I've searched and the most common answer i got was to try to find it in a university but that would be abit difficould now... Anyway thanks

    Sorry for my bad english

    Keep in touch

  • @thevenomous1 liquid nitrogen is cheap as chips but the superconducting materials on the other hand will cost you your house and probably more.

  • @Antardrews The black thing is some type of superconductor; it could be lead, lanthanum, or any other superconductive material. It is most likely lanthanum, though, but if you are going to be doing this, lead is a better superconductor than lanthanum (if you do or already did, be sure to take safety measures to avoid lead poisoning).

  • In collaboration with the physics research department of University of Geneva, Exos Performances Project has been developing creative applications of superconductive levitation. We are finally free to reveal this to the world. This is scientifically huge and artistically remarkable. I hope you enjoy watching our video and encourage you to distribute the link and youtube video to all your friends! Our youtube channel is exosproject.

  • @Mario16gap23BG

As the superconductor warms it looses it's superconductivity, and the magnet would fall onto it. However in this case it looks like the magnet was ejected rather thean simply falling. The best explanation I can give is that the magnet or the superconductor was a slightly odd shape, so the magnetic field was not balanced and the magnet threw itself off.

  • I wonder exactly how low the temperature was on the black disk.

  • @GuitarHero1222222222 liquid nitrogen is about -195 Celsius so the metal had to be somewhat -180 -190 celsius

  • I heard that objects of low magnetism can levitate from a superconductor too, is that true?

  • this is really cool...

  • it does work the superconductor produces a magnetic force to oppose the magnets thus making it levitate... there is a famous physics pic of 1 look it up =)

  • Anything is possible think of a number any number at all im sure it was low why dint you say a trillion, 10 trillion your mind is limited bye what you are taught not what you have thought. who says a word has to be spelled a certain way oh bc its in a book wow its in a book some laws are meant to be broke if it wasn't for this we would never be were we are today even typing on our computers have a good day

  • because its easier to think 10 oranges than 10 trillion oranges

  • This is so fake it must be real.

  • If you want to buy a superconductor:

    Search in google for "YBCO".

You will find an advertisement on the right hand side.

  • I'm sure your parents felt the same way about you ;)

  • @TheAmazingBullpuppy please see:

    UFO CASE IS ELUCIDATED I

    UFO CASE IS ELUCIDATED II

    CORONA EFFECT AND NEGATIV MASS

is the only solution for travel in outer space with the mighty that could exceed the speed of light: LACK FRICTION hull with particles moving environment and will enhance the ship.

Is the only solution we can go anywhere in the universe using energy environment.

  • @TheAmazingBullpuppy There was a Discovery Channel documentary on this not long ago.

  • @TheAmazingBullpuppy - its NOT fake.

    ;)

  • @TheAmazingBullpuppy this IS real

  • @TheAmazingBullpuppy It's so REAL that it LOOKS fake.

  • @TheAmazingBullpuppy its not fake at all, actually its completely true, its not a hard task to accomplish if you know what your doing.

  • @TheAmazingBullpuppy this is not fake.. this is the meissner effect

  • @TheAmazingBullpuppy Its actually more fact then fiction :), in other words its a Superconductor and its true

  • arnijul you are an idiot.

  • Oh come on its a well know scientific fact, do some research use that huge great organ between your ears.

  • >> Huge great organ.

are you kidding me? The only thing inbetween his ears are a small group of cells keeping him alive!

  • @RabidLarmer

or in his case, peanut size

  • @RabidLarmer Liver?

  • @programaster You don't have it, sry ;(

  • Fucken American prick, I wont go anywhere were yanks hang out. Terrorist target for sure!

Thank God we Aussies are so laid back and not into playing hero's. I think Hollywood's got the best of you guys....

  • The bluebone says: "Bahhh!"

  • @bluebone73 you sound about as laid back as a viagra addict's cock. :/

Do I really have to quote that old saying about arguing on youtube and the special olympics?

  • LOL @ blahdob!! XD

  • tesla sgan is right! im 15 so im older than you children =)

  • I'd ask if he/she wants help.

It's very unpolite to help who doesn't want to be helped.

    It's your case, Mr. Ultra-Machine-Designer.

    You americans are sooo intelligent...

  • Very interesting. I'm surprised no one on here has claimed "witch!!!" yet.

  • Just remember the electromagnetic force is a 1 with 39 0's stronger than gravity. Also on a side note Hubble a few months ago detected energy escaping a black hole. In black and white that means something is travelling faster than the speed of light or am I wrong?

  • You're wrong.

  • Ok time for an education lesson my old mucker. Look up Archimedes of Syracuse (Greek) (c. 287 BC c. 212 BC) was a Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, inventor, and astronomer. Although few details of his life are known, he is regarded as one of the leading scientists in classical antiquity. The Catholic Church virtually destroyed all his work. If physicists could of referenced his integral calculus findings sooner the world would be a very very different place. Go learn little one.

  • "In black and white that means something is travelling faster than the speed of light or am I wrong?"

You're wrong. It turns out a lot of what people knew about the world from 200BC has been overturned, you have some catching up to do. Go learn little one.

  • I expect ignorance from children like you, its what you do.

  • Ignorance? The scientific community disagrees with you. Sorry but it's going to take more than a YouTube comment to contradict Einstein's theory of relativity. Talk about ignorant.

  • Like i said your an ignorant little sheep. I would not expect any less from someone so stupid.

  • Like i said the scientific community disagrees with you and you have shown no evidence; you're a babbling idiot.

  • Its widely acknowledged the average american has the mental age of a 13 yr old. In your case thats still way to much :-)

  • Ok, keep dodging the fact that you have no evidence which makes you a babbling idiot. Fail.

  • so this is why americans invented the internet? the light bulb? the computer? the TV? the KEYBOARD YOUR TYPING THIS BULLSHIT ON?

ya were so stupid, yet we virtully paved the way for modern society? im only 14, yet i have the mental age of an 18 year old. ive made achematics for a free energy machine that lasts for more that 100 years. oh, and this will knock your socks off, i'm a fucking AMERICAN! you call us ignorent, but you cant accept the fact were pretty damn smart.

    hypocrite

  • Its widely acknowledged the average american has the mental age of a 13 yr old. In your case thats still way to much :-)

Just shows how retarded you are you fat little prick.

Americans did not invent the computer, nor the TV or the keyboard. Just shows how IGNORANT YOU ARE.

Thanks for proving the point yet again.

  • im retarded? do you even know anyone with mental retardation? its sad really, and my cousins retarded, and i have assisted in teaching E.S.E. classes to help. youre full of bullshit. oh and speaking of which, that proves my point that im not ignorant. in which case, you dont even know the meaning of. long story made short, it means you ignore bullshit. guess what youre typing? bullshit. most of the people that reply to you to prove ou wrong arent ignorant, cause they realize your bullshit.

  • You sad fat turd. I notice you didn't refute my facts in my earlier post. Just shows what a typical fat american tit you really are.

  • facts need proof to back them up. and so does your useless point. and you know what ive noticed? most of the people that make such a big deal about are from the UK. you havent even seen me, yet you say im fat. typical is far from accurate when it comes to me. let me ask you this-

if you see someone struggeling to carry a bunch of bags, or whatever, just drops it all all cause its too much to carry, what would you do?

  • Christopher Latham Sholes(American) = Inventory of the typewriter/keyboard

IBM(American) = Inventors of the first PC

TV is too widely debated to determine who invented it.

You call people sheeps sagan, but you speak with "widely acknowledged" information, but how do you get more "sheep" then that? Sorry to break it to ya, but America's not the only place with sheep, and it sounds like your lined up at the trough.

  • This for from one of the millions of dumb as fuck yanks.

Well done my son. go u and your childish country.

  • @TeslaSagan: Theres a good chance your mentally retarded. I would suggest you check yourself into a clinic before you hurt yourself or others around you.

  • Dr. Eugeny Podkletnov,

who conducted an experiment in 1992 that demonstrated a small but measurable weight loss in objects

Suspended above a superconducting ceramic disc rotating at about 20,000 rpm. I believe NASA is

Attempting to reproduce his experiment to confirm the effect.

You know nothing, still u are a small minded little man so we should not be surprised by ur lack of knowledge.

Enjoy failing the rest of ur life....

  • ahaha

    fucking funny

  • What are you guys figting over? (Teslasagan and GUILDBOB)

  • @GUILDGOB: this isn't Twitter, dude. lol

  • Guillermo González Camarena(mexican): inventor of the color tv

  • Ofcourse not all Americans are dumb, but anyone who wanted John McCain to win the election is clearly as thick as two planks (offtopic, i know), because the guy is 76 meaning he could drop dead anytime and the USA would be left with Sarah Palin, a person who thought Africa was a country and living in Alaska constitutes foreign policy experience as it is close to Russia. Not that presidents run anything, they are all puppets bought and paid for by the banks. :)

  • all americans are dumb

stop using youtube to talk about president whatever

    get off the internet

  • Either that or find a political forum... BTW, nice video calebblissett.

  • fuck you moron asshole , i have an IQ of 160 and I'm American? but wheres the point i cant prove it so you'll be a bigot and think stupid shit about Americans because your dumb enough to believe your TV...

  • ummm... i hate to break it to you, but we dumb americans kinda invented the internet... it was supposed to be a communication thing for the military, but that didnt prove any value back then. probably too slow.

  • Ugh... don't argue that Americans are not dumb, then make no relevant point, horrible spelling errors, and worst of all, finish your argument with an emoticon. Just don't.

  • Xxero0

    you spelled ignorant wrong

  • ya? well fuck you, fuck you, and fuck you!!! jk, lol i know i did.

  • Gravity is the weakest of the forces but is also a very fundamental force. How do you think stars are formed? but even though it is weak, it keeps a balance in an atom or in anything that needs a gravitational field.

  • You see, it´s working in a very cold and dry area!

This is a exact simulated climate situation in space.

I think it´s possible to move in speed of light, without any collisions of local materials in space, if you have a super strong magnetic field around a ship, like the field around earth and other planets!

The biggest problem is to handle the G power!

  • you can never go the speed of light.

  • well, me not, thats truth.

  • You're slightly wrong there, it's impossible for anything with mass to accelerate to the speed to light.

  • Yes, thats right, lol thanks for the correction.

  • You can never go to the speed of light, if you did somehouse manage to, your molecules and atoms would be converted into raw energy of many different spectrums. Just think of it as being put into a neon tube. I dont think its possible to reach the speed of light because once matter nears it, it will have gained enough energy to the point where it will have to get rid of that insane amount of energy by emitting light and other electromagnetic radiation. Its not healthy.

  • The reason you can't reach the speed of light is increasing mass. The closer you get the lagrer your mass, so the more energy you need to speed up. To actually reach the speed of light you would need an infinate amount of energy (clearly impossible, at least as we understend it) there's also an issud with time slowing to a stop.

  • You may think me crazy, but your comment reminds me of a guy known as Jesus. According to legend, he said, "I am the way, the truth, and the light." He also said, "Those who believeth on me shall not perish, but have everlasting life." He adresses both of your points, albeit in a different time.

I totally agree that these things are impossible, based on our current understanding.

2000+ years ago, was he saying he could show us infinite energy, and the ability to defy aging and decay?

  • but if it were in space there would be nothing slowing it down, no resistance...?

  • it's not a matter of resistance or of slowing it down,

consider two balls, one weighs 1 kg, the other 100kg. The 100kg one would be harder to move quickly right? That works in space the same way. Now picture something with nearly infinate mass, how do you get that moving quickly?

  • Never say never cause technically fusion power which is in the way harnessing the power of the sun has an infinite amount of energy. We just have to learn how to harness it first ;p.

  • While fusion power does allow large amounts of energy, is is not infinate, nor is the sun. The power can only continue as long as there is fuel availiable, which is why stars do not last forever. If they releasd an infinate amount of power, the surface of the Earth would get infinately hot (which it clearly isn't).

Also, I never did say never. I said "as we understand it" it was impossible, but our understanding of physics is always advancing.

I would never say something is truely impossible.

  • @supersquid95 why did it fall at the end?

  • @Mario16gap23BG

Because the superconductor got warmed up by the ambient environment until it was too warm to be a superconductor. With very few exceptions superconductor's have to be very cold i.e. approaching absolute zero, to be superconductors

  • Wish i could do that to moi mother in-law...

  • the way of the future...eventually. Watch the Mag Lev train in Japan video.

  • so cool :)

  • che cazzata

  • i wonder what would happen if the superconductor was spinning really fast somehow.

  • can u put one with a frog!?

  • I'm lovin' it WAY more than McDonalds!

  • Unless its a type 2 superconductor which tend to have a more gradual transition, that would explain it.

  • Is the object undergoing simple harmonic motion as it turns? Is there a restoring force due to gravity? Or is this negligible?

  • Yea It is SHO. I think the frequency increases, possibly due to rise in temperature? I don't think it's due to gravity. Gravity is simply acts as a spring constant/potential and its why its SHO. But the transition range of Tc is sharp so it can't be that, that's why it pops off so suddenly.

  • I Wonder....If you place a superconductor upside down, will the superconductor attract to the magnet, or will gravity act as the greater force...?

  • it is repeling the object, not atracting it, as i see it

  • also, gravity is a extremel weak force.

  • I know I mean it only holds us in orbit around the sun it can't be all that strong.

  • sarcasm?

Take the strong nuclear force for example... if gravity and the snf were re-arranged,you would weigh as much as a galaxy.

Gravity is the weakest of all forces.

  • sarcasm?

Take the strong nuclear force for example... if gravity and the snf were re-arranged,you would weigh as much as a galaxy.

Gravity is the weakest of all forces.

  • It is very weak in comparison to other forces in the nature. As far as i remember, the strong nuclear force is 10^38 times stronger than gravity, but don't take my word for it. :)

  • I bet none of you are that smart, and just copied it off wikipedia, lol!

    That's cool.

  • ahahahahha that is so cool :D :D :D :D :P

  • wtf just happened O_O

  • The superconductor here in the so-called 1-2-3 compound, which is also known as YBCO. Upon cooling with liquid nitrogen, it becomes superconducting, and a perfect diamagnet. As a consequence, the magnetic field imposed by the rare earth (ceramic) magnet is repelled due to subsurface currents, which create an opposing M-field. This is called the Meissner-Ochsenfeld effect -the fundamental phenomenon behind the so-called magnetic levitation.

  • nope....not the meissner effect. flux pinning

  • is called physics u dumb with out no ass stop cuttig science class ok kids

  • where can you get a superconducting disk?

  • i got one on ebay :)

  • Witchcraft! You all will be burnt at the stake!

  • Physics! You're a dumbass!

  • LMAO!

    wow-

    its called physics-

daumm the ppl above u cursed u out!!

  • eepeni96 because it's not spinning, it's oscillating

  • Why the magnet is spinning so irregular ?

  • noice

  • yeah you guys are retarded, thats actually real. its physics

  • cool

  • wow nice one

  • Thats a magnet floating above a superconductor. Not dry ice(co2), rather liquid nitrogen used to lower the temp of the superconductor to the right temp.

  • looks like a frozen hockey puck some dry ice and a 3d animated cube

  • yea i really don't think they can do that kind of stuff either. they are just trying to get more money.

  • Lol.. so ignorant :D

  • I try to invoke strong sarcasm, but it is difficult over this medium.

  • lol.. my bad... i misunderstood... also.. this was more to the original poster. And tbh, your right regarding sarcasm. I tend to do a *sarcasm* after a sentence, just to make sure people will get what I mean. I, for 1, am a good example of that, lol @ Aaberg :P

  • wow, you're a fuckin retard, it's called physics shithead!
