  • i didn't know people actually got punished for jaywalking... but i guess if you get hit by a car in the process then that is when you get a ticket.

  • Most people wouldn't even give their lives for the majority of their family members, and this man would have done it for two acquaintances. Wow.

  • Yeah right.. Police were expecting the elderly folks to be picked up by spider man or something.

  • Adding insult to injury would fuck up my day >:(

  • @DanGraywolf lol thought is my pc

  • ok screw that oh here you go for saving those pepole and your reward 900$ ticket

  • He still should get charged. What's the point of having a legal system if you're going to pick and choose when to implement it? Don't charge him right away, wait until he's out of the hospital at the very least.

  • @14Schofield I understand what your saying but still some human judgement like he said is needed, because the driver is at the most fault odds are and what would have happened if this guy wasn't there. It might have been an accident that claimed two lives and ruined the drivers entire life.

  • @14Schofield People like you are the problem with America.

  • @TokyoOER Really? Canadians are to blame for the problems Americans face?

  • @14Schofield I wasn't talking about your nationality. It's the stupid legalistic attitude like yours that is so common in the US that's the problem..

  • @TokyoOER Hey I'm not saying the laws are right, in fact most of them are downright stupid. But the point is the law is there, if we pick and choose when to enforce the law there isn't much of a point in having laws to begin with.

  • Yet another example of ignorant stupidity on the part of the police!!! I can say that because I am a cop and they trooper is a moron!!!!!!! Jedirythm you hit it smack on the head!!! We are paid to protect the public and out of a simple act of kindness this HERO!!!! Now seriously injured is thinking " If this is what happens when a citizen saves lives at his own long term expense, Why would he/she ever do it again? If the cop that wrote this guy watches and reads this, YOU R A MORON!!!!

  • This isn't the only story I've heard where the "hero" gets penalized.

During the last major flood to strike... what was it, new orleans?

A guy steals a school bus in order to rescue people from the flooding. Now the bus would have been ruined because of the floods, anyways. He not only saved the bus: but many people's lives as well: but he got screwed over for stealing that bus, regardless of the fact it would have been ruined due to flooding.

    :/

    There's a reason I'm misanthropic...

  • Did the handicaps get a ticket for jay-hobbling?

  • Fuck Colorado. They pull shit like this all the time.

  • he was hit by a snowplow...usually snowplow drivers are hired by the town/city/state...instead of the town/city/state being sued by him, he is being fined...

  • what the hell? -.- police... ugh.

  • wtfffffff!!!!!

  • We don't know all the details.

My guess is that those details might explain why the ticket was given.

  • what the hell?

    not fair!!!

  • You guys have some good stories, but really need to get better air personalities.

  • I didn't even know people got ticketed for jay walking. It just didn't seem high enough on the list of priorities for anyone to give a fuck.

  • I believe the term the police use is "justice". Has anyone ever heard of this word? Because it clearly does not exist in America. When a guy gets a ticket for being hit while seeing to the safety of others and actually saving their lives, the police are the ones at fault.

  • what the fuck is with this j-walking?

    I am not american so I am confused... in the US is j-walking that big a deal? in my country it's not in the law at all and I cross the street when there's no street light/it's red very very very often; I'm at risk, but it's a risk I'm willing to take;

what's up with j-walking in the US?

  • @bbphnix it's actually not that big of deal, In my experience, it's just been a petty excuse for cops to stop you and write you a ticket when they think your "up to something".

  • @bbphnix it's not a big deal but you do get a ticket IF you get caught anyway's plus everybody has curfew's (atleast in my city) including people over eighteen years of age you can't go off of your property after 12 am

  • @cLaX1227 CURFEW?! are you kidding me?

    what city is that?

I have on several occasions gone from the city center of the city in which I live to its outer edge at 4 am on foot. Not something allowed in your city?

  • @bbphnix no because they say there's to much crime and mugging's like a few month's ago a mother with a child and was pregnant again got mugged at gunpoint while her child was with her for only 5$ and still got shot in the shoulder

  • @cLaX1227 holy FUCK!!!!

Where do you live, man? what city is so terrible?

and, btw, what does happen if you go outside after curfew? fine? jail? knowing the US, probably the death sentence (joke... I'm critical of certain aspects of the legal system in the US)

  • @bbphnix fine if your underage, if 18 jail until picked up and this town is nothing compared to detroit ( #1 in crime rate) detroit has a rape, assault, beating, robbery, and a murder every day

  • "We have to let people know that it's not a good idea to jaywalk...."

Soooooooooo ... getting MAIMED doesn't discourage jaywalking, but a ticket does?????

  • HAHA! I j-walked infront of a cop and they just told me not to do it again. A ticket for saving lived when i ran across a buisy highway and didn't get shit is retarded.

  • Who gives tickets for j-walking anyway? O_O; Whoever did that just wanted to cause shit.

  • GRRR. Why do you give a ticket for a heroic act, and you give companies billions of dollars for ripping us off?

  • cop that issued the ticket should be shot....no questions....

  • **** democracy

  • This is why we should just watch people die. No point in getting killed if your going to help others, save lives and pay $50 on top of heath bills. I'm sure the next story about this poor dude is going to be about how he has skyrocketing heath care costs due to his heroic actions. Thank you retarded people for helping ruin the lives of innocent individuals.

  • Doing something illegal and doing something thats wrong are two very different things, this man should be very proud of himself and deserves a medal for selfless sacrifice, dont expect the cops to do that though, it might damage thier over inflated pride.

  • Typical Police Behavior. Even lives are saved as a result of breaking the law, the law is the law and they dont give a fuck about you.

  • The ticket is a symbolic example that this is a dog eat dog world.

  • Such bullshit!

  • -_- Bullshit he doesn't deserve that he saved someone's LIFE...

  • WHAT THE FUCK

  • I think he already got the message...

  • it's all about greed and money these days.....Revolution Calling!

  • Guy got what he deserved. By jaywalking he put the elderly people's live in danger in the first place. Hey guess what I set my neighbors house on fire, then I put it out. I'm a HERO!

  • @Applest2oApples he walked the elderly across the street, they chose to cross there, he just made sure they crossed safetly. and your metaphor sucks!

  • @Applest2oApples not the same story here dumbass, how can u be such a stupid motherfucker?

  • Sure he broke the law. The police are free to ticket him if they think that's best. But don't be surprised when people have no respect for law enforcement.

  • They don't see pus as people. They see us as numbers. He acted incorrectly by not following their norm and had to be punished.

  • whats Jay walking? I never herd it b4.....

  • @vishal676 It's J-Walking. It means crossing the street when the Street Lights tell you not to. So like if the street lights says DONT CROSS but theirs no cars you can see, so you go and make a run for it.. That's J-Walking.... Don't actually walk in a J formation... That will get you injured like the dude

  • @tashad200 oooooooooh ok. Thanks. Its just not used here in London lol.

  • if you can cross a street without getting killed, who cares if it's called jaywalking or raycaulking?

  • I believe the technical term for this is a steaming bowl of bullshit.

  • @DRok112 I'm afraid that's the technical term for this whole show

  • i followed up on this story. the pigs eventually withdrew the ticket days after because a local reporter asked them exactly what legal basis the ticket was on when colorado has a statue that every intersection statewide has a crosswalk, whether marked or unmarked. they pulled the ticket almost immediatly. the guy that hit him was at fault because he was trying to make a turn and didn't yield in the crosswalk nor evidentally slow down at all and struck him.

  • shouldnt have crossed the street with two old people, he put their lives at risk too.

  • @gabba1gabba1hey he was trying to make sure they got across the street ok. Did you just miss that big piece of the story? and since when is crossing the street life threatening??

  • @alliem1212 uh, it obviously is if he almost died, smart guy.

it was snowing out and there was low visibility, so you just randomly cross the street with two old people? stupid idea.

  • AT SOME POINT COMMON SENSE HAS GOT TO PREVAIL. THIS IS TOTALLY RIDUCLOUS. THEIR IS A REASON THE INCOMPETNT LOSERS IN THE POILICE FORCE CANT CATCH ANY OF THE REAL CRIMAINALS IN THIS COUNTRY.

  • the world is a terrible place, the justice system is a total abortion these days

  • ...hmmm, for some weird reason, i was under the impression that laws were sposed to keep people from harm. not to punish 'public heroism' or whatever... fucking maggots

  • this is why you shouldn't try to help people, you don't get anything

  • "boop" @ 1:27

  • Police: to corrupt and serve

  • Those cops just gave him a ticket because they were jealous of his heroism. When cops feel someone stole their opportunity to be notice, they punish the people for it. Why do you think cops tell other law enforcement agencies to back off when there is trouble?

  • Comment removed

  • Most of the time these communist Doushebags are full of shit, but for once there right fire those cops man.

  • what happend to the lady?

  • My niece was crossing the street; well J-walking and was hit by a woman on her cell phone; ended up in the hospital and when she came to they gave her a ticket.

It was touch and go with her for awhile and she gets the ticket.

  • @TheWingedunicorn

She deserves it I guess. No J walking.

Unless, she saves people like the one in this video

  • Police are corrupting more than protecting.

  • Besides let's face it, these laws are pointless, people will still j-walk all the time, it's just another funnel for people to throw their money in, because you know it won't be going to anything worth a damn.

  • He's a bus driver, one of the more stressful jobs out there, minimal pay, and then goes out of his way as a gentlemen and overall good person to help two old ladies cross the street, then gets run over by some idiot (drunk most likely), gets seriously injured, and then to compound the fact that he likely can't go back to work for a while, will probably have huge medical bills to cover, might even lose his job, they give him a ticket.

    What the FUCK is that?

  • @UnknownXV As far as I know, there's no evidence that the person driving the plow (or whatever it was) was drinking. And just because the bus driver tried to do something nice doesn't mean it was the right thing to do. Jaywalking isn't against the law just because, there's a good reason for it. And it's to prevent exactly this from happening.

  • @BadLuck765 You miss the point. People will still do it, regardless of it being illegal or not, so the law being there only gives cops another excuse to be dicks and suck us of even more of our hard earned money.

People will always take minor risks for large conveniences.

  • @UnknownXV Well, if you're bitter over fines and police officers, I guess you're entitled to that. I definitely disagree that fines don't act as a deterrent to prevent things like this from happening as frequently. Jaywalking was an issue first. The law and punishment came second. The governments that came up with anti-jaywalking law didn't do it just to fill their pockets.

  • @BadLuck765 It's a law, meaning it was intended for good but most of the time is abused for greed. It makes sense in congested areas, it makes sense to make you think twice about looking both ways before crossing, but being fired for doing so when there isn't a single car on the road (it's happened to me) is ridiculous. If anything it encourages me to do it more often as a small gesture to the man, that he can go screw himself.

  • @UnknownXV Is that the official definition of a law? Intended for good, but usually exploited? And you being fired for jaywalking is an issue where you worked, not the law or the people that enforce it. Finally, if you're seriously juvenile enough to break the law out of -spite-, and you're saying that as though it's a legit argument, I'm pretty sure this debate is over.

  • @BadLuck765 Definition? Of course not, but in practice that's how they work. I do not go out of my way to break the law but I do ignore ones that serve no practical purpose in the situation.

Often laws complicate life so much, I'm thinking the minimal safety granted by them is not worth the added inconveniences and money involved. I'm honestly more scared of defending myself from a mugger or thief because of the law fucking me up after, than because of the mugger himself.

  • police are really stupid

  • The bus driver is great, fuck the Colorado police.

  • he should get a super bowl ticket

  • So next time im in colorado and there is a situation where I could save someone's live, I better think twice about it if it involves breaking a law.

(Im kidding, who cares about the ticket. Ill save someone's life regardless of legal consequences, but I hope you see my point.)

  • You know, with the way the Colorado fans act at their own football games, this doesn't really surprise me in the least.

I'm not saying the police weren't dicks, for givinng the guy a ticket. I'm just saying if they can't keep control of themselves and not throw shit on the football field everytime whoever they're playing against scores a point, can you really expect their police force to be decent human beings?

  • the definition of no good deed goes unpunished

  • Could you imagine trying to save a girl's life by giving CPR, you could get arrested for rape and groping.

  • So, wait a minute. I usually agree with basically everything Cenk says, but... if he was jaywalking, that means the old ladies were also jaywalking, right? Do you know why they have laws against jaywalking? To prevent EXACTLY THIS FROM HAPPENING. I agree the guy is a hero, but had they adhered to the traffic laws, there probably wouldn't have been a need to rescue anyone. I think the law is right in this one.

  • @BadLuck765 so you're saying that he should've just obeyed the law and let those old people get hit and most likely killed? if so then you're a part of the problem that Cenk was talking about, people not applying judgement and reason to the law. you and the police also ignore the fact that there was tons of snow, hence the snow plow and plow driver not seeing them, which means that they probably couldn't see the crosswalk and went outside of it

  • @Cuddlebunzzz Ah, no, I'm saying the old women shouldn't have been jaywalking either, and so there wouldn't have been anyone hit at all. If they couldn't see the crosswalk, they probably at least knew it wasn't there. Look, just because the guy did something awesome (sacrificing himself to save those women) and just because his heart was in the right place (walking them across the street) doesn't mean he was right. He caused an accident too, and had he followed the law, he wouldn't have.

  • @BadLuck765 We don't know if he tried to stop them from crossing, though. From the casual passerby it might have looked as though he was helping them cross when in reality he was trying to stop them/redirect them towards a crosswalk. I'm not really angry, stuff like this isn't all that surprising anymore (I've seen people receive tickets for very stupid reasons or even when the cop was wrong). I would only be angry if the snow plow guy got away from this with no charges whatsoever.

  • @chapacoka Well, possibly. It didn't sound like that was the case, and as far as the news stories contended, he didn't make that as part of his story. Jaywalking (if that's what happened, and it sounded like it was) is illegal, and it is for a reason. So you don't cause accidents. Which -sounds- like that's what happened here. We don't know for sure, I guess, but going by what probably happened... he tried to help them, they all jaywalked and they caused an accident. =\

  • @BadLuck765

I can see the logic on that but the ticket should have been waived given the matter at hand. The snowmobiler didn't bother slowing down in the least which implies that the guy is just as guilty as the jaywalkers for not even considering avoiding a collision.

  • @NUTCASE71733 Mm. Maybe. (It was a snowplow, not a snowmobile though, wasn't it?) Do we have evidence that the driver didn't slow down? And if it was a snow plow rather than a snowmobile, those big trucks are really, really hard to stop. There's obviously many different ways this could have played out, but it actually seems to me that the person who hit them may not have done anything wrong at all. One something suddenly appears in front of you, it's really hard to react in time.

  • @BadLuck765

I think they had already started to walk across the road, they're old and probably not entirely aware of everything going on around them, so without speculating too much, he probably figured it'd be best to just get them across that way since they had already started.

  • @UnknownXV I guess that's a possibility, but probably isn't the most likely scenario. I think most people don't really consider jaywalking a potentially dangerous thing to do. I hadn't really prior to hearing this story and would probably have done the same thing the bus driver did. Having said that, it -is- possible they had already started walking, but then it sounds like he rushed out to walk them the rest of the way by your theory. I doubt that's how it happened.

  • mother fucking beauraucrats he saved to oaps lives he should be a hero no criminal colorado ploice are a bunch of wankers

  • this is the kind of crimes the american governement dose evry day, america is a fascist dictature, it allways was and it allways will be, it`s noones foulth, it`s just all thanks to manifest destiny

  • ...wow...really?....he saved there lives it costs money?! if there were a box of kittens in the road i would save them for a fine of...$356...

  • Shit I'm from Colorado and I'm ashamed of those cops... Dammit

  • Fuck those cops.

  • That's right... nail those ass hat J-walkers!

  • wow

  • The YoungTurks LOVES big gov't and unions so what's the problem?

  • @yakyakyak69

That nothing to do with anything, what is your point?

  • USB connect fail

  • Jesus Christ, with a bleeding brain, etc, wasn't the injured guy punished enough? I think he learned his lesson. Fuck the asshole police who just COULDN'T let it go.

  • Maybe we should start suing all these people individually. It would only be as frivolous as what they are doing to us. I lost my license for a year for speeding away from a shooter. The police never looked for the shooter because they had their "criminal" already.

  • @nirbmtrREEEPR Are you serious? Wow, that is bullshit. Fucking cops

  • Was that a Skype sound at 0:36? lol

  • no it was a usb sound thingy

  • wow, people are really ungrateful.

  • Wouldn't it be the elderly people who should've been given the ticket for J-walking? He just got out to make sure they didn't get hit by a snow-plow or something.

  • Police have to be mentally ill to want a job where all they do is make other people's lives miserable. The vast majority of arrests are for victimless crimes. They arrest some guy for driving down the road smoking a joint and the guy loses his licence his job his family his car and they dont give a shit., Sick fucks all of them. The more people they arrest the better for their career. They love it. It never occurs to them that the guy is hurting noone and pot does not impair driving.

  • no no no... POLICE help. Actual police serve and protect, and fight against -crime- in order to make our streets safer.

You're thinking of traffic cops who get paid by us... to look for any excuse possible to harass, and fine, the people who pay them.

I've reported break-ins in progress... and the police have said that "we can't get to it, all of our units are on traffic duty." Talk about priorities...

  • @dasgregorian

That's what being a cop is these days. Even if they had a unit on crime response, if you manage to call them fast enough before the burglar/thief attacks you or flees they still won't be there for another few minutes.

The law and cops are only there to clean up the mess and punish. It's not about safety protection or justice at all.

  • The city that this happened in are just covering their ass in the law suit by handing this guy a J walking ticket.

Thereby putting the fault of the accident in the bus drivers hands.

  • Say what you like about cops.

It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

A few of them make mistakes and do stupid things, occasionally they see themselves as above the law and run on hypocrisy and double-standards. A cop accidentally kills a criminal aiming a gun at some kids, the cop gets in trouble and it makes the news. A criminal shoots a cop in the face, nobody hears a thing.

Also, that same criminal points a gun at your kids, who are you going to ask for help?

  • A criminal shoots a cop in the face and nobody hears a thing, what fuckin country do you live in? That happened in Texas a while back and it got annoying you heard so much about it.And if a criminal points a gun at my kids im gonna shoot him with mine but the cops will try everything they can to pull a dick move and arrest me.Cops rarely miss a chance to pull a dick move.

  • shit, and cops can be a bunch of racist fcuks and pull me over, search my fcuking car, hold me there for 1hrs and lik 10-20 min while he called up some of his friends and just sat around and talked about casual shit. Ohh and just saying, i didnt do SHIT, just a normal ass day of going to work

and thats not even as bad as those cops who actually KILLED minorities and didnt even get fcuking punished for it

  • i 1000% agree with your comment to Fezgxian

  • @ZaneZanarkand Actually, no, no one has to do it. We live in a well lit society of fairly civilized people, and the more laws and wars there are the more dangerous things get. I fear the law and cops more than I do a criminal, because at the end of the day I can actually fight against the latter.

  • Where is the human judgement? Some people in law enforcement are such Robots.

  • Policemen should be shot in the fucking head!

  • fuck u.

  • What? you one of those fucking pigs? Dickhead!

  • "great job... here's your ticket for jay walking" haha, Cenk should be an actor.

But seriously, all these fucking rules and regulations rid society of it's common sense.

    Where has justice gone?

  • That J-walking ticket is going to hurt really bad. He will probably have many legal problems as a result. It will most likely keep him from getting his pay check while recovering and will probably keep him from being able to sue the driver(s) who hit him. That J-walking ticket was given to him for a reason and I don't doubt it for one second.

  • Fucking law enforcement beauraucrats.

I wonder what their going to do if this guy dies.

Be like well... somebody needs to pay the great state of colorado it's dues!

Maybe they can place the debt on his children with compounding interest.

Come to think of it, the fraudulant bastard is evading prosecution by being in that coma. Sounds like obstruction, maybe he should get the a little stick time.

The Colorado State Patrol should really pat themselves on the back.

  • @fallout2029 Omg...Epic win man...

  • hes gonna file a lawsuit

  • I live in Paris, near Paris, France. Seeing the homeless and the discarded people of our "modern" society, I wonder if anyone cares. I try to care, but what can I do ? A dollar here and a dollar there, cools my concern, but I still feel that it's not enough. Bill Gates and company give billions of multibillions and never intereact with the people they say they are going to help. What's the point of giving money to people 10,000 miles away if you do not help the guys five miles away.

  • @eatthis92 Yep, exactly. I was homeless for over 2 months in Florida, and I'm 20 years old. No one cares. Infact, the only real attention I got was from cops telling me I couldn't stand around in the same spot, couldn't sleep there, or there, or any fucking where I could be seen, etc... barely being able to eat each day. It's fucking scary being in that situation. When there are people who have so much money they could buy a small country, I just don't really understand people.

  • and thats why i say fuck the system.. its not for humans anymore.. its more like for robots.. humans do mistakes and shiit but still you getting fucked by the goverment ( or whatever ) and get fined and shit... its just some straigth bullshit

  • No good deed goes unpunished!

  • he already got punished by getting hit by the damn thing

  • you've totally missed the point. read my post again and watch the vid THEN get back to me. gosh

  • Handing out tickets gives Cops the biggest hard on imaginable! This is just further prof that All Cops Are Bastards

  • From a psych professor with a PHD: 'There's 2 kinds of people that become cops; those that are out there to help and those that are there for the power trip.' Not -all- of them are, but a lot more than a sane person's comfortable with.

That said, if I was the superior of the guy that gave the ticket, he would've been fired the moment I knew about it.

Saving Lives gets you excused for almost anything in court, so jaywalking? Come on! We should be paying this guy's hospital bill as a thank you!

  • @ThoughtRipple Exactly. A bad deed gets punished.. you know what, a good deed should have a reward, or at the very least it shouldn't be punished because of some technicality that is useful SOMETIMES but is obviously not meant for this scenario.

  • They've since retracted the ticket, thank heavens.

  • Where did they give this poor man the ticket? In his hospital bed? Damn.

  • we should protest

  • Police just love arresting people and handing out tickets as opposed to saving lives

  • this is why we have reason. if people had common sense/ didn't act like senseless robots none of this would have happened in the first place

  • The city are probably worried about the bus driver suing the city for the plow hitting him.

So for future reference they issue him a ticket.

They are basically covering their arses even though it makes them look like idiots !

  • Winding up in the hospital isn't enough punishment!

  • lmao

  • Wonder how quick until the Governor rescinds the ticket?

  • Ticket the old people, they were the ones who chose to cross there.

  • I sincerely hope you made this up and this isn't real...

  • I live near Colorado Springs....It's a true story!

  • wierd computer noice at 0:36

  • Thats messed up essay

  • Did the police issue him a ticket for J-walking for insurance reasons? Was the snow plow a city vehicle? If the guy was J-walking the city might be trying to get out of paying for his medical care through insurance.

  • Oh My God what is wrong with police in our country. We attack the innocent and reword the guilty. Is this what our founders thought this nation would be like hundreds of years latter?! If I was working, I'd so pay for that guys ticket. NO JOKE SOMEONE SHOULD DO SOMETHING!

  • like the 5 year old who got busted for bringing pot to school. how many kids that age know what it is?

there are exceptions to the rule

  • And they wonder why people get hit by cars and nobody stops to help. Stupid motherfu*kers!

  • Someone at the Colorado State Patrol needs to reel in this jackass trooper and reprogram this overzealous Barney Fife!!!

The Trooper is to dumb and anal to be an officer..Send this clown trooper back to the circus!!!!

  • This is exactly what I would expect from a cop...nothing out of the ordinary.

  • No good deed goes unpunished

  • Rules destroy moral skill and incentives destroy moral will.

We need rules... but not as a way to replace our conscience.

  • what? jaywalk!? Come on... I like the police for their purpose. I worked with them. But this is where bad and easy basic judgment should have apply. Where did this cop left his brain? in school? jezzz...

  • WOW glad I don't live in that piece of shit place. Colorado was it? Home of the mongloid retard police force from hell. I hope that cop gets crushed by 2 buses.

  • wot the fuck is j walkin?

  • crossing the street when the side light doesn't say to go

  • Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

  • Seriously! Criminals can break into your house and sue you if they slip and fall in YOUR house! Justice System is a total mess! Common Sense and compassion is used far too little these days.

  • aamerica is the dumbest country in the world
