  • @bmays002 The first turbo Buick V6 (3.8) came out in '76, while the first Chevy 90 degree V6 came out in 78'. The Buick V6 dates back to 1961, but since the Chevy is so very similar to the small block Chevy, I would say it's far to give it credit back to 1955's 4.3L 265 V8. Just sayin

  • @lilric64 before you call me a dumbass, you might want to go to school and learn to read and write. Other than that, I agree with you, and I have no idea why I said 100%. The only similarities are the idea and the turbo.

  • It looked to me as if the GN still won, but either way great run for both vehicles. Would love to have either one of those beasts.

  • Both bad-ass rides. Both are v6 turbo's. It doesn't matter what the specs are, or the all wheel drive. Just rest assured that these would whoop the asses of anything else on the road that isn't GM!!!!!!!

  • The syclone's 4.3L V6 engine is a small block Chevy with 2 cylinders chopped off. These V6 motors where around years before the GNX, just the idea to turbo one came from the GNX.

  • @2fit661ca fool u stupid, syclone is base off from the 4.3l and gn is off from the 3.8l, there's a differences dumbass, either way GN kickass better!!!!

  • what a great race!

Turbo 6 power rippin up the track!

That gn was catching up toward the end of the run too.

    But syclone = win!

  • this are the 2 best fastest and quikest v6 cars from america, and letme tell , you I wich i had eather one of them , this was a lion to lion race and after this come the sons of them which are the skyline and the supra , no wonder i dont find many races vs this to american cars lol, and that goes to those jap crap lovers.

  • that is why this truck rocks! I need 15k to buy one though. =(

  • bad ass car and truck

  • looks like the grand nat caught up

  • P.A.S ALL DAY!

  • Wow! This is mysy sy2532! Original owner and still have her. If you look 91-ZR1 rims with gforce tires. Stock Original 4.3 and stock turbo. This was taken at Lapeer International Dragway, Michigan. I had no idea this gn was next to me until we lined up. At Lapeer you just get in line on Saturday and who you get is who you get. I had drove from Southfield to Lapeer, no trailer. I thank the syty club for helping keep her tuned and hard.

  • Agree that the Grand National didn't hook up but that's what makes the Sylcone a great drag truck, 35% to the front 65% to the rear. While the other car is spinning wheels, the Syclone hooks up and says SEE YA!

  • syclone rules...this gn would definitley not stand a chance against a syclone on the streets stop light to stop light...on the highway maybe, but i doubt it...

  • The only thing I saw getting blown off was the Grand Nationals tires all the way down the track. If you watch and listen you can clearly see and hear the GN turning the tires all the way down the track. The GN driver was in and out of the gas all the way down just to keep control of the car.Yes,the GN did a "burn out show"All the way down the track.LOL.Take away the 1.5 sec gift at the line and the"burn out show"all the way down the track. The only one going to school would have been the syclone.

  • doubtful...

  • Na... Truthful...

  • The only thing I could see getting blown off was the Grand Nationals tires. If you look and listen yuo can clearly see and hear the GN turning the tires all the way down the track. The driver of the GN was in and out of the gas just to keep control of the car.Yes he did a burn out show. All the way down the track. LOL. Take away the 1.5 sec. gift at the line and the nice "burn out show" all the way down the track. The jimmy would have been the one going to school.

  • No, it wouldn't the GN didn't hook up. The Syclone probably drove there on it's own probably with his Homie or Girlfriend on passenger seat. The GN got there on the trailer & slicks. Don't hate on SyTy's they rule. I do love GN's as well.

  • YA MrMGA I agree.. The GN was at the line 2 sec. after the syclone,AND Caught UP. I bet that gn would run circle around that AWD 4.3L Turbo truck....

  • the syclone has the advantage at the line because of it's AWD, it takes off as soon as the gas is punched instead of peeling tires, but it still has that 4L60-E tranny with a low top end unlike the GN's 200r, so on the highway, the GN would definitely kick ass, but in town, stop-light to stop-light, the syclone would rule. both have a 0-60 of 4.6 seconds, and the syclone's engine is 100% based off of the 3.8 in the GN, only the GN had more work by McClaren, (yes, i know the GNX was the1 they blt

  • I didnt get to read the whole thing you wrote yet but also the syclone has a 4.3l v6 and the grand national has a 3.8l v6 both turbo'd but the syclone along with its brother the typhoon also have the advantage of being AWD or 4WD if im correct...not completely sure though but i really like all of them...the tyohoon, syclone, and the grand national which is making it into the movie fast and the furious 4 coming out on April 3rd i believe...cant wait to go see it lol

  • That's awesome, now i can't wait to see that movie!! In that poor excuse for a movie "I Heart Huckabees" There is a breif second in which a Typhoon is in the background.

  • Yeah i wish they had like all the cool cars in movies now adays lol but yeah i love all the fast and furious movies! and the grand national in it looks very cool. I wish they would have like a typhoon n stuff in it though that would be awesome.

  • I dont mean this like i hate the Grand Nationals either i think they were cool cars especially the GNX and they were probably the ones if anything to give GMC and chevy racing ideas of building the typhoons and syclones

  • in the typhoons and syclones the 4.3 L LB4 V6 engine came with unique pistons, main caps, head gaskets, intake manifolds, fuel system, exhaust manifolds, and a 48mm twin bore throttle body from the 5.7 L GM Small-Block engine not based on the 3.8 GN motor at all. infact the 700r4 tranny would probably hold up better at higher speed and put power to the ground better at a higher speed than the 200r the GNs had over all i think either way on the highway or on the street they are just faster

  • i meant based on the idea of the stock motor gone super turbo. i agree with you on the durability factor of the trannys, but the 200r was definently geared for higher speed driving.

  • actually it is the 4l60 it is not electronic it is still a vacum operated transmission

  • @2fit661ca The 4.3 in the Syclone is based on the 5.7L or 350 Chevy V8. The Buick 3.8 on the other hand is a different animal, although still at 90 degress and based on a V8 like the 4.3 V6, the Buick 3.8 was based on the 215 aluminum V8 that GM sold the design to land rover, GM however kept the V6 design based on it.

So the 4.3 is not 100% based on the Buick V6

  • @GMisurdaddy I'm sorry, I know it's not 100% and I knew that when I posted the comment over 2 years ago. No idea why I said that. About the only similarities between the two is the idea and the fact that they are both turbo. And yeah, everything else you said is true, dating all the way back to the early 60s with the 3.2 V6 and all. And for the record, I'd take a 3.8 GN motor or any 3800 over a 4.3 any day. The SFI 3800 (1987 to 1991) is the icing on my cake.

  • Blows the doors off?? The GN fell asleep at the line but he may have won the race. Pretty damned close at the end...

  • agreed

  • hahaha gotta love it... the syclone patiently waits, lets GN guy do his burn out show, then takes him to school.

good to see all these syty videos finally surfacing on youtube.

    Cheers!
