@nebuchadnezzar12 When they're running though the hospital afterwards it totally reminded me of The Breakfast Club where the kids are running through the school. It was kinda whimsical and sappy for kids who are suffering from severe depression but I guess the point was once you let out your depression life feels a lot better.

i just want you to know that this is not what a pych hosptiel is like. i was commeted, ( not by my choise mind you), after a suiside atempt, and this movie is nothink like the real thing. imagen a horible mix of preeschool and prison. i was watched 24/7, and evry night, every five minuets on the dot, they would shine a light in my face to make shure i was still brething. there was a big hubub if i was in the bathroom for too long, or out of sight for 2 seconds. they treeded me like a crook.

First let me say I love this book and the movie...Emma Roberts was great as Noelle. Anyway to the person asking about her scars the book says "...the cuts on her face line her cheeks and forehead: little parallel slashes, three together in each place, with clumps of white skins on the end where they're healing. They don't look like very deep cuts, and they're thin - I have a feeling that when they heal up she'll look just fine." So yeah I'd say you can see cuts but they're not as bad as the book

as the book describes. Also, you see her wrists are cut in the movie whereas she says specifically that she cuts her face due to people wanting things out of her alluring to sexual abuse. I think they tried to lighten her problems up a little purposely because it's a movie and they didn't want it to be too dark. I just recently rented the book from the library and I suggest to anyone who likes the movie read the book!

There are scars on her face because she cut herself with scissors to make herself less pretty because people treated her in ways she didn't like when she was pretty. That's what the reason was in the book anyway, I haven't seen the movie yet so they may have a different reason.

@kthevsd yeah that's how they described her. They also made it sound like the scars on her face were more obvious and not as muted as they were on Emma Roberts. Like I'm pretty sure he noticed her scars before anything else about her.
