Dateline Music Theme

If theres any other Music themes I miss, rather than NBC News' The Mission, its this classic tune. And one other thing..The one idiot that disliked this has no damn..uhhhh..(Someone help me out here)...

I totally grew up with this theme music. I remember how it perfectly captured the essence of a closing day. It's almost haunting to be able to hear it again after all these years.

@subwayman31 it's good but primetime live is better in my view(a rare long close is on here), the mission for nbc nightly new, the current cbs evening news, long versions of course. This snippet should have been the long one, i guess I'll have to go through my old vhs recordings..

Loved the theme music myself until NBC decided to let Phillips go last year. Realize I should have gotten over it by now, but when you see extra good talent like this given the exit, it doesn't leave such a good taste in your mouth. Wish I knew what he was up to these days.

I love the classic Dateline music myself (what used to be the Dateline music theme).

Currently, I don't even recall what the most current theme is for Dateline anymore.

It's really too bad that Stone Phillips and Jane Pauley had to leave Dateline.

No, this was the ORIGINAL Dateline theme. Which I STILL prefer to the later ones -- if for no other reason than they worked the NBC chimes in.

That's not the original Dateline theme you hear on this video. It's an updated version of the 1995 theme.

True -- it's not the original instrumentation or arrangement -- but it is the original melody, that's what I was alluding to.

I wish they would return to this melody that is heard in this video. To be honest, I can't even remember what the most current Dateline theme sounds like. I wish they never have gotten rid of it.

Is this an updated version of Michael Karp's 1995 theme? Anyone know when they started using this?

Like around 2003 and the theme altogether first came into play in 1994.
