i dont think guants ghosts would be good as a movie.....i think it be better as an anime personally....itll let it space it out and flush out the books better than a movie would
Actually I reckon it could work as a movie but not a cartoon or similar, no adult i know (I include myself in this) could watch it in front of non GW fans without getting embaressd & pretending not to be enjoying it. And live action probably wouldn't work either; if it could be made to work within any kind of forseeable budjet for this sort of thing at all then it probably would simply not do justice to the background material instead. Sticking to 300 style live / CGI combo stuff though, maybe.
@1IbramGaunt well anime maybe was a strong word i suppose but i meant like what they did for ultramarines or otherwise and kinda make it like a band of brothers because thats whay Gaunts Ghosts reminds me of alot with its characters and events which is a good think but maybe do something like that its just that i cant imagine a good actor portaing someone like gaunt personally voice actors r much more talented than regular actors
@AsianMirage It'd be much better as a tv series. In my opinion. Because no excluded important information. Movies are very different from the books they're inspired by.
The TV series is something I've been mulling around, too. It'd be very interesting to see how it all would pan out. Which channel would pick it up, though? Syfy? It'd definitely be a cable channel. But I think it'd have to be preset with some sort of huge success, which the Ultramarines movie will not have. I personally am very excited for my preordered copy to arrive (production delays set ship date back) but it's not the 'Batman Begins' rejuvenation/beginning of 40k cinema.
It's an interesting question, isn't it? not the SciFi channel, these days they only seem interested in stuff that either doesn't cost much or doesn't take up to much of their on-screen time slots. I frankly thought Ultramarines was a bit of a rush job, despite the lengthy making time, the graphics would have been brill a few years ago but seemed a bit iffy now; the main marines themselves were ok, the backgrounds and vehicles looked great, but it was still a bit of a disapointment to me somehow.
Sort of looking back at it, I enjoyed the movie but yes, it wasn't the eye candy and the shocker that you hoped for.
Agreed on the Syfy point, it's b-movies, wrestling, or dumb tv shows that they air now. I was against SGU in the beginning but it grew on me and I was sad to see the last episode on Monday. It was getting better, but Syfy doesn't really seem interested in good TV shows, so w/e.
I could see a SG-1 or SGU style tv series for 40k, though, but is GW willing to pay?
@DeltaSquad451 Yes indeed. Seeing them crack down on that 'Damnatus' attempt and taking so long to bring out any kind of film by themselves, either more movies or a series seems a bit of a forlorn hope. The ability for someone to make something ok out of 40k even if GW won't is clearly there, even some of the amateur vids on here don't look half bad! try the 'Death Korps Trooper' ones as an example. I think Dan would be first to agree there's potential in abundance just among the fans.
@Fangtorn That would be much better than just a movie. But it would come out when and how they want it to come out, so they could really fuck it up if they get to tamper with it. Probably put a lot of shit that doesn't really need to be in there in the first place. Ya know?
Honestly I think Gaunt's Ghosts and Eisenhorn would lend themselves better to a tv series then a film. They would have to cut so much out of both books to fit in within 90-150 minute film there wouldn't be much left. A 22 part series with a decent budget would be a dream come true.
I ALSo agree with colonelchris as think of all the stuff u would miss out on I a movie

@colonelchris92 It can be a damn broadway play for all I care. I just want the series to be brought to life. It surely dserves it.

@AsianMirage The film would feel like such a let down when it is compared to the books this is always the case

@AsianMirage Either that, or the next THQ game after Space Marine. FPS definitely.
