As a freshman in highschool, tomorrow I am required to recite these moving lyrics. Though I find the poem a tad bland and straightforward, I'm looking forward to the experience. Furthermore, I've already been inspired by her book ,"Where a Caged Bird Sings", which also happened to be a reading assignment of mine for this very same class. Shall Ms. Angelou grant me assurance through my schooling career and to those to come, haha! :)

I saw Amy Sky & heard this song for the first time at a Jim Brickman concert in Verona, NY. I was teary-eyed at the end and was in awe of this woman!

I wanted to give this song to the members of my women's group, MVBWN, so I sang it to them - and it was empowering...

I think Martin Luther King Jr would be proud and affirmed that one of the most iconic and femininely affecting poems of a black poetess is being performed by a long standing and borderline iconic Canadian country artist.
