Also those B-series Mazda engine put out 400+hp (at the wheels) easy. This one is probably tickled too, else it wouldn't we up there. So just looking at the weight to power ratio at "just" 400whp, the Mazda would win (I know it's not the only thing that counts, but still).
The reason the Mazda won is probably mainly because of the extreme short gear ratios and its other design features, it was designed as a rally car so the focus was on fast acceleration not long straights and roads. The Viper will most certainly kill it on Nurburg. I'm not saying the guy/girl driving the Viper did a great job. But it's not unthinkable the Mazda would have won anyway on such a short strip.

Perfect exemple of AMERICAN BIG RACING CAR get owned by simple 1.8 liter turbo mazda engine.... The difference between the two cars is the mazda is little bit less heavy, VERY MUCH better built, eating A LOT less gaz than the MOPAR GARBAGE and will last A LOT longuer than the other shit.... I saw a lot of protege and 323 last over 350000 kilometers and continue to run. The mazda 323 GT-R is a fucking rally car, its fucking solid and durable.

i disagree that the mazda race car will last longer than the viper. a stock one yes but nothing that fast, something vital is bound to go wrong it always does.
it doesnt matter if it was in a cornfield or not, they still had an actual timing system set up with pre-stage and stage lights. you can see the cars pre stage, and then pull up to the stage. there are seperate eyes for each of these as well as for the start line. there is no start line painted on a real drag strip either btw.
Hey bro what kinda box you running in this? I seen your drag a few impressive cars and you aint shy to launch like the average GTR driver. I myself own a GTR and I know what they are like. Yet to blow a box but then again I don't launch like you ha.
I do know of an upgrade for the GTR which is the GT4 celica gbox with custom adaption plate and a few other mods which make it near indistuctable in the GTR's which is probly what I will be looking to do in mine when I get a bit of spare cash.
The guy who designed the setup recently made 320wkw in his GTR, needless to say its a bit of a weapon.
For those out there who are talking about GTR's being BPT's that is the lower grade version the GTX, the GTR are BPD's which included the VJ23 ball bearing turbo, 440cc injectors, squeeze cast rods and pistons (not forged) factory cast tubular exhaust mani, 5 stud hubs, factory front mount, shot peened gears which make them slightly stronger and a closer rato then the GTX.
Too bad that rice burner jumped the line like crazy. Watch the lights, the mazda takes off just before the green and has an unfair advantage. Not saying it still wouldn't have won, but that line judge was shit. It's clear that the mazda jumped.

clearly you know nothing about drag racing... the staging line is 18" behind the start line, so yes you do want to launch before the light turns green. the computer for the timing system has an "eye" at the start line, so if you cross it before the light turns green you "red light" and lose. there is no "line judge"...

if this 323gtr has got the big turbocharger onboard, it has got about more than 300hp and only weighs about 1100kg...it also has got 4wheel-drive and "sperrdifferenzial"(dont know how to spell this in english)...if the track would be longer, the viper would win, but in acceleration the 323gt-r is very hard to beat, even 4 a racing-viper...

Carillo H beam rods for the BPT is awsome, plus Weisco forged pistons, you can get a clean 380 whp on your BPT. Iif you go with more detail in some other parts you can probably get it up to 450 but thats going to be like a good 7 to 10 grand in the engine alone plus a stronger gearbox would be a must.
i dont have the carillos... yet. but i think the gtr rods will hold up fine for 400 hp. i do have the Wiseco .02 oversized pistons with 8.6:1. so im hoping for about 400 and some change.

awd is good to ~500-600hp. For the big boys, 1000hp+ awd sucks, it's rwd all the way. As you accelerate the weight moves toward the back. Eventually, all the weight rests only on the back wheels. AWD means more transmission loss etc. Why do you think dragsters are rwd?? It's called weight transfer... look it up. Give the viper the same boost (so equal hp/kg) and drag tires and the shitty 4cyl is nowhere. The viper motor can handle close to 2000hp! The mazda lawnmower engine what, 6-700?
So tuned, the mazda would have to be 3 times as light (a viper with 1/4tank approaches 1500kg). Show me a 500kg 323 which still works! :P Plus, once you're up to speed, say over 150km/h weight doesn't play a major role anymore, drag is far more important. At the same power/weight ratio, the general rule is that at speed, the car with more hp wins. and there would be a difference of... 1300-1400? AWD also slows you down @ speed. So really, I don't even know why these two cars are compared.

Perfect exemple of AMERICAN BIG RACING CAR get owned by simple 1.8 liter turbo mazda engine.... The difference between the two cars is the mazda is little bit less heavy, VERY MUCH better built, eating A LOT less gaz than the MOPAR GARBAGE and will last A LOT longuer than the other shit.... I saw a lot of protege and 323 last over 350000 kilometers and continue to run. The mazda 323 GT-R is a fucking rally car, its fucking solid and durable.

I've said it before and I'll continue to say it until you guys get it through your heads. In the end the guy driving the Mazda is still driving a Mazda. That viper will always be worth more. I could have a 400hp Mazda pickup if I felt like dumping the cash.... I don't though, I'll never get it back if I do.

it doesnt matter if it was in a cornfield or not, they still had an actual timing system set up with pre-stage and stage lights. you can see the cars pre stage, and then pull up to the stage. there are seperate eyes for each of these as well as for the start line. there is no start line painted on a real drag strip either btw.

Hey bro what kinda box you running in this? I seen your drag a few impressive cars and you aint shy to launch like the average GTR driver. I myself own a GTR and I know what they are like. Yet to blow a box but then again I don't launch like you ha.
I do know of an upgrade for the GTR which is the GT4 celica gbox with custom adaption plate and a few other mods which make it near indistuctable in the GTR's which is probly what I will be looking to do in mine when I get a bit of spare cash.

The guy who designed the setup recently made 320wkw in his GTR, needless to say its a bit of a weapon.
For those out there who are talking about GTR's being BPT's that is the lower grade version the GTX, the GTR are BPD's which included the VJ23 ball bearing turbo, 440cc injectors, squeeze cast rods and pistons (not forged) factory cast tubular exhaust mani, 5 stud hubs, factory front mount, shot peened gears which make them slightly stronger and a closer rato then the GTX.

Too bad that rice burner jumped the line like crazy. Watch the lights, the mazda takes off just before the green and has an unfair advantage. Not saying it still wouldn't have won, but that line judge was shit. It's clear that the mazda jumped.

The green hasn't even come up when he starts to accelerate. It's obvious. If you can't see it then go back to kindergarten and learn shape recognition and whatnot. He clearly jumps.

clearly you know nothing about drag racing... the staging line is 18" behind the start line, so yes you do want to launch before the light turns green. the computer for the timing system has an "eye" at the start line, so if you cross it before the light turns green you "red light" and lose. there is no "line judge"...

Tell me where you a sensor or "eye" of any kind. And I'm sure the guy standing between the two cars just likes to stand there right? He serves no purpose! if this 323gtr has got the big turbocharger onboard, it has got about more than 300hp and only weighs about 1100kg...it also has got 4wheel-drive and "sperrdifferenzial"(dont know how to spell this in english)...if the track would be longer, the viper would win, but in acceleration the 323gt-r is very hard to beat, even 4 a racing-viper...

Carillo H beam rods for the BPT is awsome, plus Weisco forged pistons, you can get a clean 380 whp on your BPT. Iif you go with more detail in some other parts you can probably get it up to 450 but thats going to be like a good 7 to 10 grand in the engine alone plus a stronger gearbox would be a must.
i dont plan going over 350 on mine.

i dont have the carillos... yet. but i think the gtr rods will hold up fine for 400 hp. i do have the Wiseco .02 oversized pistons with 8.6:1. so im hoping for about 400 and some change.

awd is good to ~500-600hp. For the big boys, 1000hp+ awd sucks, it's rwd all the way. As you accelerate the weight moves toward the back. Eventually, all the weight rests only on the back wheels. AWD means more transmission loss etc. Why do you think dragsters are rwd?? It's called weight transfer... look it up. Give the viper the same boost (so equal hp/kg) and drag tires and the shitty 4cyl is nowhere. The viper motor can handle close to 2000hp! The mazda lawnmower engine what, 6-700?

So tuned, the mazda would have to be 3 times as light (a viper with 1/4tank approaches 1500kg). Show me a 500kg 323 which still works! :P Plus, once you're up to speed, say over 150km/h weight doesn't play a major role anymore, drag is far more important. At the same power/weight ratio, the general rule is that at speed, the car with more hp wins. and there would be a difference of... 1300-1400? AWD also slows you down @ speed. So really, I don't even know why these two cars are compared.
