Hello everybody and welcome to the Civic Arena in downtown Pittsburgh for this opening round game between #2 seed South Carolina Camecocks and the #15 seed Coppin State Eagles.
Reminds me of Shane Battier, Jason Williams, and Duke, Tayshaun Prince and Kentucky, Juan Dixon and Maryland, Ed Cota and UNC, Jason Gardner and Arizona, and Mo-Pete, Mateen Cleaves, and the Spartans!
@jasondh22, even the 2003-mid March 2011 version is good. If they had to scrap that one, they should use this one-not the current bullcrappy song I'm hearing now!
I love this theme--it has a special place in my heart since it debuted the year Dean Smith won his second (and last) national title. Don't know why they changed it ... if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
This is the best one ever but I'm liking the new one that they put in this year with the addition of Turner as part of the big dance...definitely a step in the right direction...
this them gives me chills every time i hear it... it just gets me in the mood to watch some great college basketball during the best time of the year, march madness
Man I miss these days...this was when college basketball was the shit...the best players actually stayed in school for 3-4 years instead of all the 1 and done's of today...the conferences were aligned geograpically and didn't have 16 teams like today's Big East...ESPN hadn't ruined the sport by televising every single game and making it a watered down product...and CBS didn't clutter the top of the screen by putting all the other scores during the first few rounds of the tourney...
That's what I'm talking about! Reminds me of that very first NCAA Tournament I watched as a kid with my '98-'99 Duke Blue Devils. That was the team, still mad they lost to UConn in the Championship Game.
@thatdudecozz89 The final time that CBS used this for college basketball coverage was the conference tournament championship Sunday in 2004, right before the NCAA tournament. Then with the start of the 2004 tourney, they ditched it for the lame azz music they still use today.
@bayou432 Yeah, but on some games during the 2004-2005 season STILL had this theme as the intro, while STILL using the whack music during the course of the season since then.
@thatdudecozz89 Wow, I had no idea. Do you remember which games in particular and when they took place? I really don't watch much of college basketball coverage until close to the NCAA tourney.
@bayou432 yeah, they played this song (intro-wise) during the 2004-2005 season (03/06/2005, when Ohio State upset Illinois, when Florida upset Kentucky and when Carolina beat Duke at the buzzer).
Reminds me of IU beating Duke in a classic back in 02......at a crazed Rupp Arena no less. Even UK fans were rooting for IU, lol.

@mrtrick002 That was the same season that Oregon pwned Kansas at
the Pape Jam (using Ridnour's banked 3 at the shot clock buzzer)

i'm 16 but i still miss this one. long live the 90's!

I remember the Pape Jam 2003 and the Ducks upsetting Kansas!
Luke Ridnour's banked 3-pointer that staved a Kansas rally.
The shot was about a foot or two behind the NBA 3-point line
and it was at the shot-clock too :D
