  • Beco is a Kennel Club registered Laekenois. His coat is a good bit rougher now (2 years of age). Many laeknois have coats that are too heavy and underlying structure that differs far too much from the other varieties of Belgian shepherd (Malinois, Terv. & Groen.) Laekenois in Holland were crossed with Bouviers and even airdales after the second world war.Interesting article here on the 'deroudur' site under 'articles' if your interested in reading more.

  • Maybe I'm wrong (and I like you correct me if i'm please :) ) but i think that this dog is a Malinois.

  • he's actually a Laekenois, they are the rough coated variety of the Malinois. He's very cute by the way!!

  • you're wrong actually. this is not a laekenois, this is a malenois as it does not have the longer rough fur . also laekenois are much less pale in colouring and their tails are chunkier at the base (probably owing more to fur than anything)

  • you're right, this dog doesn't have the fur of the laekenois
